News For Port Loring

It was brought to my attention of what the exact days of Deer Season is here in Port Loring so thought I should clear that up.  Don’t need anyone heading out there on the wrong day.  Not that I think they would without checking but……..just the same.  The exact days in WMU sections 47 & 48 are from November 5th to November 18th.  Looking forward to it myself.  Couple things to remember is to sight in your old rifle  before heading out, along with making sure everything is up to spec.  I was also told by the experts that using two eyes instead of one for a gun with a scope is much better.  I will have to work on that as I for the first time put a scope on my 358 Browning.  Reason being my right eye isn’t as good as it was many years ago.  Should make things interesting I would think.  Also don’t forget to bring along your hunting knife and make sure it is sharp. Nothing worse than dressing a deer with a dull knife.  If hunting in an area you are not sure of might pay to hang a compass on your coat like I do and learn how to use it.  Never know when it might come in handy. If you got it you probably will never need it, if you don’t……well, I think you get my meaning.  Also don’t forget the colors when out there and keep a sharp eye out for your friends and others while hunting.  Make sure you know what your shooting at in other words.  Also keep them rifles pointed in directions away from yourself and your hunting buddies and never, I mean never, lean your gun up against a fence while crossing. Lost a good friend of mine doing just that.  Enjoy the couple weeks my friends, do things right which I am sure you will and everyone including yourself, will have a great few days hunting.
