Port Loring Ontario, Weather, Information, Fishing Times & Tips

So how you all doing on this fine Saturday Morning?   Hope you are all healthy and enjoying the summer.  Some sunshine waking up this morning with temperatures sitting at…17.3 C | 63.14 F.  Clouding up a touch as I type.

Forecast For Today:   Rain, very unsettled throughout the day.  Will see sunshine I am thinking off and on with a chance of a thunderstorm. All depends on which course they choose to take as there is a few different storms out there right now crossing Ontario.

Bug Report:    Have to say it is really nice out there pertaining to insects of all kinds.  I worked out on my back deck yesterday all day and never seen anything other than one or two pesky deerflies, which left after they found out I wasn’t interested in their shenanigans.

Fishing Times & Tips:   Today if heading out one should makes sure they take along a rain coat.  The old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 7:30 AM – 11:00 AM and once again from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM.  I give it a 4 fish rating out of 4 for catching them, this morning and this afternoon.  Great day for catching them providing weather plays along with ones intentions.   The fishing lure I recommend today is a Canadian Wiggler Hollow Brass Lure.  This lure is great for casting, trolling and spin casting.  You can also try a bit of worm on the end of it, as an extra tease for that large Pickerel, Pike or Bass that is just a bit finicky on biting.   On a cloudy day in dark waters a lure that is easy to see is a must and this Silver Shiner 2-3/8 inches long is just the lure to catch their attention. If you don’t have this lure in your tackle box a live shiner hooked correctly, just in front of its top back fin, should also show great results.  Then next time in town see about getting one.  They sell for under $10.00.  Click Picture to enlarge…143469  Good Luck!

Around Town:   Well seems a bit quiet this morning here in Port Loring this morning.  Not too many cars moving up and down highway 522.  I have to say I haven’t seen as many campers moving into our area this year.  But there are quite a few I noticed in our Government Parks.  So at the very least folks are out and about  enjoying nature.  Here in Ontario we have a short season and one sure has to take advantage of it while they can.  July wasn’t the greatest weather wise I know, but August my friends…you don’t want to miss what we have to offer here in the North.  No where is it more restful and healthy relating to fresh air and solitude; which we have in abundance, just waiting for you here in Port Loring.  Some say our town is the best kept secret in all of Canada.

On another note my very good friend Carrie Rogers dropped by the other day riding her horse Rhythm.  I have to say Rhythm is sure a beauty to say the least.  We had a great chat and she asked if I would like to take a ride.  I wasn’t about to say no.  Been a few years since I sat a horse, but once up on top memories of years past came rushing back.  Great feeling for sure as my own horse, Jennie, many years ago, was almost identical, other than being a touch smaller.  I can’t thank Carrie enough, for giving me the chance, to once again feel what it is like to ride one of the most amazing creatures that our world has to offer.  Of course we took a few pictures of, Rhythm, Carrie & myself.
