Information For Port Loring July 9/2016

Good Morning: Finally here in Port Loring we are getting some much-needed rain. Trees and gardens are looking good. Yesterday late in the day my friend Barry and I went out fishing for the first time this year.  Boat run good after its winter nap and had a great time.  We did hook on a few pike but threw them back as they were a touch small.  A bit later we both hooked onto a nice pickerel so wife and I will have a nice supper tonight.  No other fish here in the north tastes like pickerel.  I do like large mouth bass though, they are also quite tasty.. Talking about bass I was casting out from the boat in a weed bed and while bringing in my line I felt a few little nibbles, which I figured was a small fish of some kind.  I set the hook and told Barry that I got one but a small one. Thing I didn’t take into consideration was that it could be a big one, just heading in the same direction as I was. That is what happened.  A few feet from the boat up it went out of the water, shook the hook out of its mouth and gone. Really nice large mouth bass. Lesson to be learned if you get my meaning. Have a great day.

Words Of Wisdom: Nothing makes a fish bigger than almost being caught.

Weather Forecast: Another cloudy day with a few showers possible. Not as warm or as humid today.

Rain Accumulations:  We had 5mm of rain overnight.

Bug Report: Not much activity these days which is a good thing. Few mosquitoes.

Fishing Report:  Today the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 10:20 AM – 12:20 PM. Then again a bit later from 4:18 PM – 7:18 PM I give it a 3 fish rating out of 5 for catching a few. Remember always keep two fishing poles with you and ready to use. That way if you get hooked up on the bottom and the fish are bitting you can keep on catching them.  Also you won’t scare that big one away while trying to free your hung up line. Good Luck!

Highway Report:  Highway 522 is a bit wet this morning but great weather for traveling.
