Morning Report Sep 23/19
Another cloudy rainy day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. Temperatures were sitting at 16.4 C | 61.52 F. It won’t warm up much more than it is now. Rain will be light throughout most the day. Wind Direction 327 deg | NNW. Tomorrow we should see some sunshine but the rest of the week showers will be with us off and on. Not so good weather for working outside these days. Let’s hope things clear up some, so we can enjoy all the colours of Fall. Today I have some more painting to do inside the house here, so that will keep me busy. Then I will see about making a loaf of bread. I have to admit I enjoy experimenting with new bread recipes. Some work some don’t. LOL But no matter, the bread I make is much healthier than store bought. Although … no bread is really that good for you as it is mostly all sugar. What can you do? Moderation I suppose is the key. With that I am off for a cup of coffee and a bite to eat. Then I will let the day unfold around us. GW

Cloudy and rain this morning for Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The rain will continue off and on throughout the day, into tonight and through tomorrow. After that, we should see some more sunshine with a bit cooler temperatures. Waking up it was sitting at 20.3 C | 68.54 F. Today with the rain I will do some inside work here in the house. Maybe write up a story or two if the urge hits. Never know when a story wants to be told. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and will let the day carry on. GW

Port Loring’s Bumble Bee’s
One thing we have lots of around our home here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada, is Bumble Bees. All types can be seen on our Sedum Plants, which are out in full bloom. The scent they give off is also fantastic. Every year I have to take some pictures of these furry little creatures. You know … they are so gentle you can even pet them as they go about their business of harvesting the sweet nectar that these flowers give away for free. Fantastic to see. Morning Report Sep 21/19
It’s a really nice day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. Sun is shinning and temperatures waking up were sitting at 15C/58F. If I had to pick the nicest day of the year, today would be the day. Last night we even slept with the windows open, and getting out of bed we didn’t need to turn the oil furnace on to get warm. Tonight and into tomorrow, and Monday is another story, with rain and a possible thunderstorm will be in our area. Long range forecast will be pretty good too with lots of sunshine. So … hey, great weather to do just about anything outside. Today my wife and I will be busy and then this afternoon we will do some front porch sittin’. Just because we can. There won’t be many more days we will be able to sit outside. Unless you have your long-handles on and a heavy coat. So with that information under your hat I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife and will let the day unfold around us. GW

Morning Report Sep 20/19
It’s a cloudy morning waking up here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. By the looks of things it will remain cloudy for most the day. Temperatures getting out of bed were sitting at 13C/55F. It will warm up a lot as the day moves forward. Should be a great day for some front porch sitting. Yesterday we got the Mill finished up, bringing it back to life. Turned out great as you can see in the pictures I added yesterday. Today I will clean up my shop as I sure messed things up. But that is what a woodworking shop is all about. Pretty hard to do any work and not make a mess. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and will see what the day has in store. GW

The old Mill
Here is a few pictures of our old Mill with a Water Wheel I made years ago. It was about had it, but with a bit of old wood and some tender care, we brought it back to life. We set it at the end of our driveway where folks drive in can see it. Turned out really nice, especially when my lovely wife got finished adding a garden around it. Click on any picture to enlarge.
Morning Report SEP 19/19
Nice looking day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. For a change we have sunshine, which makes things just that much better. It will cloud over a bit later. Temperatures were sitting at 14.2 C | 57.56 F. It will warm up considerably as the day progresses. Hard to beat this weather. It is a touch windy but that is what Nature is all about, as she eliminates the leaves from the trees and removes the dead branches. Her way of cleaning things up. At least on her part. For us humans we then have to pick up her mess. LOL Yesterday I worked on the old Mill my wife and I created years ago. Bringing it back to life. It’s just about finished and will then position it out near the end of our driveway for all to see. Looks pretty nice if I do say so myself. I will take a picture of it and add it to the blog once all set up. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and will see how the day progresses. GW

A great looking day getting out of bed. Temperatures were sitting at 12C/54F. It will warm up more, as the day moves forward. Seems summer is upon us. LOL. Today I have some shop work to do. Fixing up our old mill I made years ago. Seems time takes a toll on things. Nothing is nicer for me than to make something out of wood that most throws away. It’s nice to be outside not being bothered by bugs, weather, or ? With that I am off for my morning cup of tea and will let the day play out as it is planned. One just never knows. GW

Morning Post SEP 17/19
Another really nice day shaping up for us here in Port Loring, Ontario Canada. The sun is shinning with hardly a cloud in the sky. Temperatures were a bit cool through the night which made it nice for sleeping. Today we will see lots of sunshine and it will continue throughout the week. I am thinking it will be the best week of the year and quite possible the last real nice week of the year. We will still get some nice weather just not as warm. I am happy I got my firewood in where it is warm and dry, along with my boat being put to bed for winter. I still have some gardens to till once I get my manure and leaves spread on top. Makes for a real nice garden next year. Not much traffic going by our house these days other than the locals. With that I am off for my morning cup of tea with my lovely wife, and will let the day unfold around me.

Morning Report Sep 16/19
Great looking day shaping up for us in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is making an appearance as I type, with temperatures sitting at 10.3 C | 50.54 F. It will warm up considerably as the day moves forward. The whole week is looking good as well. Not too much traffic around town for the past couple days. Most folks have or is closing up their cottages for winter and the locals are getting prepared for what’s to come. In some ways I don’t mind, in others I do. Relating to the cold. Seems the old body doesn’t like it as much as it used to. But that is what a Furnace, be it wood, oil or propane is for. Just heat isn’t cheap in our area. Not complaining mind you. With that I am off for my morning cup of tea with my lovely wife and a bite to eat. I then will see what mischief I can get into.

Another cloudy morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. Not too cold this morning and things will warm up later on, and tomorrow summer weather will be upon us. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 9.1 C | 48.38 F. Highway 522 is slow this morning, hardly a car going east or west. Sign of the time. The leaves are turning more in colour every day and in some areas already dropping. Today I am going to take it a bit easy. Maybe write up a story for my columns and might even have a drink with my lovely wife later on. With that I am off for my morning cup of tea and a bite to eat. You can feel the changing of seasons in the air here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. Sign of what lies ahead I suppose. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 11.9 C | 53.42 F. It will warm up as the day moves forward. At moment, the sun hasn’t made an appearance, but we might see some later on. There is also a chance of some more rain throughout the day. It’s kind of a mixed day weather wise. Yesterday I worked on an old table I had in the back porch. Amazing what can take place with a bit of sanding, glue and some stain. Looks like brand-new now, or will once my lovely wife puts her mark on the top. With that I am off for my morning cup of tea, and will see what the day has in store. GW

A bit cool here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. Cloudy with temperatures sitting at 10.9 C | 51.62 F. It will warm up some as the day progresses. We should also see some sunshine today giving away tomorrow to more rain. But after that we should see a lot more sunshine. I had to turn the oil furnace on this morning to take the coolness out of the house. Feels good. Just I hate burning oil so early in the season. Not much you can do though. Yesterday we went to North Bay to purchase a few things, got home late in the day. Today I will finish up some painting around the house here and do some work in my shop. It should be a fair day for hunting, which will make the bear hunters happy. Quite a few have dropped by our store to say hi and pick up a few gifts to take home with them. They come from all over. One bunch came from Sweden. Another came from Poland. Nice to see them out and about enjoying life. Today I give it a 4-Star Rating out of 5 for seeing a few. Getting one or two … well, that is up to you. Good Luck and stay safe. Remember, bears can be crafty sometimes, switching the tables on hunters.

A bit of a change this morning for us here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. It’s raining, a touch cool and breezy. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 11.2 C | 52.16 F. It will warm up as the day moves forward. Rain will continue till Thursday. Then more rain or a thunderstorm on Friday. Crazy weather for sure. On the good side of the coin we did get all our firewood in while it was nice and dry. Not that it matters, as my wood is stored outside under a lean-to which I built fifteen years ago. Best move I ever made. But hauling it around on wet grass isn’t fun and makes a mess. Yesterday and the day before was perfect weather for getting it done. Nice to see it all piled high and dry in the basement. Today I will do a bit more painting inside the house as my lovely wife would like one of our doors painted. Then I might write up a story or two if the light of ideas strikes me. With that I am off for my morning cup of tea and a bite to eat, and will let the day unfold around me. Have a great day!
