Morning report Feb. 12/2020

It’s another cloudy day here in Port Loring, Ontario. Temperatures are staying around the same as yesterday sitting at -3.2 C | 26.24 F. It will warm up as the day moves forward a bit. We didn’t have anymore snow overnight. Highway 522 is bare throughout so travelling should be good today. Tonight we can expect some more snow and if things track our way we could see three more inches or so . I am hoping it passes us by. Today I will take a look at my electric stove for some reason the oven stopped working no lights come on where the clock is. We didn’t have any power surges that I know of, it just stopped working. Weird. This is the second stove that has done that in the past two years. Not sure what is going on there. Always something to keep life guessing. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and will see what the day has in store, other than what I planned. You just never know. Have a great day. GW

Morning Report Feb 11/2020

Good morning from Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. Well to start things off we are in the midst of more clouds. The good thing is we didn’t have anymore snow overnight. Which is okay with me. Yesterday as it was, took most the morning to clean the driveway and things. But I shouldn’t complain as the snowblower does most the work, and we did get some much needed exercise. Also the sun came out while being out there and it was actually quite nice. Temperatures through the night weren’t to bad and getting out of bed they were sitting at -3.6 C | 25.52 F. If things goes to plan we should see some more sunshine throughout the day. We could see a touch of snow too but nothing to write home about. Temperatures will rise a few degrees more as the day progresses. Highway 522 is pretty well bare throughout, but it does have the odd icy section. Travelling should be good today if your in need of some supplies in North Bay or ? Other than that not much more to say here this morning. Today I will be working on some stories for my columns and my Podcasts which will keep me busy and active. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife. Have a great day. GW

Morning Report Feb 10/2020

Cloudy morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. Overnight we had around 5 inches of snow. Highway 522 is snow covered throughout with icy sections thrown in for good measure. So if out and about care should be taken. The plow has been through over night and should be making its way back through again shortly. Temperatures aren’t to bad, a touch cool sitting at -3 C | 26.6 F. It will warm up as the day moves forward. The clouds should leave us in a bit, bringing in sunshine for the rest of the day. That’s what I like to see. I guess I will have to wake up my snowblower this morning and clean out the driveway. So the clean up will take most of the morning I suspect. It will give me and my wife some fresh air an much needed exercise which is a good thing. With that bit of information under your hat, I am heading for a cup of coffee and a bite to eat. Little late this morning, slept in for some reason. I guess we must have needed the rest. The nice thing is … we can do that. Have a great day. GW

Morning Report Feb 9/2020

it’s a cloudy morning for us here in Port Loring Ontario. We are also in the midst of some light flurries. We could see an inch or so and maybe another inch through the night. The good news is, it isn’t as cold as it was yesterday with temperatures sitting at -10.8 C | 12.56 F. It will warm up more as the day moves forward. And tomorrow should be even warmer. Sunshine today will be scarce, but we might see a wee bit later on in the day. It would be nice and it would help those that aren’t feeling that good. We didn’t have any more snow overnight. Highway 522 is partially snow covered caused by the flurries we are having now. There are a few icy sections through out so care should be taken if out and about. Today I will be working away on some stories for my columns, and maybe finish up a Podcast I have been putting together. With that I am off to put some wood in the furnace, and then enjoy a cup of coffee with my lovely wife. Have a great day. GW

Morning Report Feb 8/2020

Good morning. I hope you are all well. It’s a very cold morning here in Port Loring. Temperatures getting out of bed were sitting at -25.9 C | -14.62 F. It will warm up some as the day moves forward. Tomorrow warmer weather will enter into the picture. If so I might even wash the car. I hate looking out seeing how dirty it is. It’s like watching $60,000 rusting away right before my eyes. You know it’s cold outside when you see your windows covered with ice. But seeing that you know there is enough humidity in your home, which is a good thing. We didn’t have any snow overnight. Highway 522 is pretty well bare and dry throughout, which will make travelling good today. There are a few icy sections. Other than being a touch cool it would be a good day to get some groceries. My wife and I picked up ours last Thursday, so we are good for a week or so. On another note our wood furnace is earning its keep for a change. The heat it puts out sure feels good. It only takes around four large pieces of split wood to heat the whole house for the night. Great furnace, let me tell you. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and a bite to eat with my lovely wife. Have a great day and if out make sure you dress warm and keep your mouth covered.

Morning Report Feb 7/2020

My wife and I have been away for a few days for a much needed rest. That’s the reason I have not been doing my morning report for the past few days. But back now.

Not to bad a day so far this morning. It is a touch cool though with temperatures sitting at -12.7 C | 9.14 F. Actually even though it is a bit cool the sunshine we get today should make things feel a bit nicer. One can only hope. Highway 522 is partially bare. Which will make travelling pretty good later on today. No reason not to head on off to town for supply’s. We went yesterday so we are all set. No snow overnight which is okay with me. It will get quite cold tonight so an extra blanket will be needed when retiring for the day. With that I am off to do some work in the basement as we have been modifying things. For the better if I do say so myself ha ha. Have a great day.

Morning Report Feb 3/2020

So to start things off we are in among some clouds here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada this morning. We should see more sunshine as the day progresses. Temperatures though are pretty nice sitting at -0.6 C | 30.92 F. We didn’t have anymore snow overnight. If we do get any it will be on Thursday. But until then we will have sunshine. Highway 522 is bare and dry throughout these days which makes travelling good. So no excuse for not heading off to North Bay or ? for groceries. With these warmer days we haven’t been burning as much wood or oil which makes it nice. If temperatures stay on the warm side for the rest of the winter which I think it will we might get away with only 6-7 cords this year and only one tank of oil. That’s amazing really for this area. But we are seeing a lot of changes in our climate. Nothing abnormal I don’t believe, as over a 100 years ago it did the same as it is now, just the other way around. Nature has a way of doing things and there is nothing we can do about it. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and will see what the day has in store. You just never know.
