Morning Report June 30/2020

Good Morning from Port Loring, Looking outside it is looking like another really nice day shaping up for us. The sun is shinning and not one cloud in the sky … at the time of this post that is. Temperatures this morning are pretty nice sitting at 20.8 C | 69.44 F. In saying that it will warm up substantially as the day wakes up. Yesterday it got really warm and today will be much the same and tomorrow and the next day even hotter. To hot for me. I like it in the high 70s. We usually get a few days of hot weather, but this year so far we have had more than our share and it looks like we are in for a lot more. Crazy weather this year, kind of like the world right now. Yesterday I did manage to water my vegetable gardens and do some work in the shop in the morning, but then it got to hot to do anything, so we took things easy as we will do today. Highway 522 was really busy yesterday with folks coming into the area from all over. All we can hope for is they do what is right but I don’t think so by the looks of things. The new cases of this virus is rising daily here in Ontario and I suspect it will get worse before it gets better. But as I keep on saying, the more folks don’t do what they should be doing, the more my wife and family protects ourselves. I don’t begrudge anyone enjoying the north if they take the precautions necessary. Anyways what will be will be. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee on the front porch with my lovely wife, before it gets to hot, and will let the day unfold around me. Have a great day and stay safe.

Morning Post June 29/2020

Good Morning! Well it is another great looking day for us here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. Once again the sun is shinning with out a cloud in the sky. Not to bad temperature wise neither, with them sitting at 17.1 C | 62.78 F. It will remain very warm and sunny for the next two weeks. Great weather to be doing just about anything. Which is okay by me as I have lots to do around the house here. Highway 522 is quiet this morning with only a few trucks moving around. I suspect that will change once everyone gets out of bed. There there were lots of campers, travel trailers, boats and ATV’s in the back of pickup trucks moving up and down the highway yesterday. The black-flies and mosquitoes weren’t to bad yesterday when I was out in my vegetable gardens, which was a nice change. With that not much more to report here this morning, all is good, so I think I will head on out to the front porch and have a cup of coffee with my lovely wife. Rough Life. Huh? LOL Take care, stay safe, and keep your distance when around people. And most importantly stay out of stores that you don’t need to be in. Just a suggestion of course. LOL GW

Morning Report June 28/2020

Good Morning! It’s a really nice looking day waking up here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is shinning and at the moment it isn’t that hot yet with temperatures sitting at 17.9 C | 64.22 F. It will warm up a lot though and remain hot for all of next week. If the humidity stays away it won’t be so bad. Time will tell how that works out. Yesterday my lovely wife and I took things a bit easy. Today I will do some work in my gardens tilling it up a wee bit, which will get rid of a few weeds that are trying to take over. Then once that is finished I might just do some more front porch sitting along with working on another Podcast. Lots to do around a home. The only issue is … if I want to do it LOL. Highway 522 was really busy yesterday with folks coming in from other towns and cities. The black-flies I found are still with us a wee bit, but not so bad that it stops a person from being outside. The mosquitoes are quite bad if your in certain areas that are shaded a wee bit. The horseflies and deer flies aren’t that bad yet, but once things heat up a bit they will be around annoying folks. With that … I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife and will let the day do as it wants. Have a great day, and stay safe. GW

Morning Report June 27/2020

Good Morning! Hope you are all well this morning. The sun is shinning this morning in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. It will continue to do so with a few clouds thrown in for good measure. We could possibly get a shower too later today. Temperatures will rise and it will become quite hot for the next two weeks, with lots of sunshine. Good job the price of hydro is down a wee bit, as I suspect a lot of folks will be cranking up their air-conditioner. At least for those that have one. Highway 522 is busy this morning with more folks moving into our area. Some do what they are suppose to do, others don’t care at all. So we that are taking precautions … will have to take extra care. Not much we can do. On another note my vegetable gardens are growing leaps and bounds these days. No shortage of greens for the supper table that’s for sure. Today I will work on another podcast. I got my exercise yesterday mowing. My old mower made it through another cut. LOL. It sure looks nice though when all said and done. I could sit outside on the front porch looking at things all day. We have a great piece of property to say the least. But it didn’t get this way by doing nothing. It took my lovely wife and I a lot of work to get it to where it is. So with that, I am off for my morning cup of coffee and then will see what develops as the day moves forward. Have a great day, stay safe and don’t go into places that are unnecessary. Well … I can’t tell you what to do, but it is a good suggestion LOL. GW

Good Morning. Well … to start things off we are in the midst of a few clouds this morning. Temperatures were sitting at 16.1 C | 60.98 F. It will warm up as the day moves forward. Then tonight we could see a few showers off and on and into tomorrow. But I don’t suspect we will get too much. Highway 522 is a bit busy this morning but it is Friday and everyone is out an about picking up things for the weekend. I suspect the LCBO will be booming today. LOL. The black-flies are all but gone, but the mosquitoes are quite bad. We need some sunshine to slow them down some. For ourselves we will be mowing some grass around the house here. I will be able to see if all my work fixing my rider paid off. Hope so, as them new riders can get expensive. With that I am off for my morning cup of tea and will then see what develops. Take care and stay safe. GW

Morning Report June 25/2020

So how you all doing this morning? Good I hope. Here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada we all woke up to some clouds with the sun trying to make an appearance. It will show itself in awhile and temperatures should get warmer. Which in turn should make it a really nice day. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 13.9 C | 57.02 F. Highway 522 is a touch busy this morning and will get even more so as the day progresses … as it is nearing the weekend. On another note my vegetable garden sure perked up with this rain, and the lettuce is amazing. I should mention that if anyone would like some, let me know as I have lots and it’s a shame for it to go to waste. There is no way my lovely wife and I can eat it all. It’s all organic, various kinds and virus free LOL No charge. With that I am off to have a coffee with my lovely wife and will then see what the day has in store for us. Take care, stay safe and do what is right. GW

Morning Report June 24/2020

Good Morning! We all woke up to some showers this morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. I hope it continues for most of the day and into this evening as the trees and plants needs it. Although … looking out at my vegetable garden this morning even with a wee bit of rain, it sure has spruced things up a lot. Never ceases to amaze me how a simple shower can make things grow. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 13.8 C | 56.84 F. I have to say I enjoy the cooler temperatures throughout the summer months. But we have to take what we get. Next week things will start to warm up again. Highway 522 is slow this morning, but it is early in the week and these gloomy days slow things down some. Today I will do a bit more work in my shop as I have a few things on the go out there. Then later on I will finish up the Podcast I am working on for Friday. After that I might do some more practising on my Guitar LOL I got it a few years ago and never got around to learning how to play it. So another challenge for me. I am slowly getting my fingers going to three cords E-A-D LOL. Not as easy as some would think. Those that play a guitar make it look easy LOL. I am open for any tips someone might have. I did have a lady offer to help me, but we were so busy when she offered with orders and things I didn’t take her up on it and now with this virus going around we are not able to get together. So if there is any help out there it will have to be done from a distance. LOL With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and then will see what the day has in store. You just never know what might take place. With that take care and stay safe. GW

Hi Folks. It’s showery cloudy morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. We should see some showers off and on for most of the day. We could see a bit of a thunderstorm too if it tracks in our direction. At the moment we are having some light rain. We need it though as things are quite dry. My vegetable gardens are in need of a good drink. You can water as much as you like, but nothing is as good as Mother Nature. Temperatures waking up have cooled down with it sitting at 19.1 C | 66.38 F. Which is okay with me as I don’t like the real hot temperatures. The mid 70s is fine with me. The black-flies are pretty well all gone now but the mosquitoes are still with us, and will remain with us in part for most of the summer … along with the horse flies and deer flies. I have to admit them deer flies and horse flies can be annoying too. If they find you they don’t leave you alone. Highway 522 is quiet this morning which is a good thing. But I suspect it will pick up once the rain eases off and we near the weekend. With that I am off once again for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife and will then see what I can get myself into. I do have another Podcast in the works, so maybe I will finish that up for Friday. Take care, stay safe, social distance, do what’s right and stay out of stores if you don’t need to be in them. GW

Morning Report June 22/2020

Good Morning!. We are in the midst of some clouds here this morning, in Port Loring Ontario Canada. There is a slight chance of some rain today later on. However it will remain warm for most of the day. Tomorrow things cool down with more rain or even a Thunderstorm in the forecast. Which is needed in our area. Highway 522 is kind of busy this morning with a few cars moving up and down the highway. Lots of trucks, so looks like construction is still going strong. Temperatures waking up at the time of this post was sitting at20.1 C | 68.18 F. The grass isn’t growing as fast these days so that makes things easier for my wife and I. Not that we really mind mowing, as it is exercise. The firewood we piled earlier with this heat is sure drying nice, which will be really nice to burn come winter. Although … we might not burn as much this year, using oil in its place. Seems every year our bodies get a touch tireder LOL But we will see how it goes. On another note, I did manage to get my mower fixed the other day. Took me most of the day removing the deck fixing things and installing it back on. How long will it last? Hard to tell, but this I know for sure. If it breaks down again I will be buying a new one. Can’t complain though as it is well over thirty years old. It would be very hard to find a new one today that would last that long. Today I will do some work in my shop as it is one heck of a mess. With painting decks, fixing things and me not putting things back where they are suppose to go …. well it needs some attention. The Black Flies have all but gone now, which makes us smile. The mosquitoes are still with us and this hot humid weather will keep them around for awhile longer. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife, do some chatting and then get on with our day. Take care, stay safe and do what is right when it comes to this virus. GW

Not Doing What is Right

So taking a look at things, with all these protests and people that aren’t social distancing, or wearing a mask, or taking precautions, it goes to show you what will happen here in Canada, if we don’t start taking things serious. Take a look at what is taking place in the USA this morning.

The number of new Covid-19 infections reported in a single day hit 30,000 Friday for the first time in nearly two months according to a Johns Hopkins University tracker, as states like Texas, Arizona, and Florida continue to set new records for the most daily new cases.
Florida reported 4,049 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday.
Arizona tallied 3,246 new confirmed cases Friday morning.
Texas also broke a record it previously set the same week, with 3,516 new confirmed cases Thursday.
The Covid-19 virus is believed to have an average incubation period between 5 and 6 days but can be up to roughly two weeks … so it is spreading right now without us even noticing.
Some say … that is in the USA. Yep that is right it is, but it can and will happen here in Canada too if we don’t do what is right. Hate to be a bearer of bad news. But in saying that, we do still have a chance here in Canada to keep things down somewhat. Then there are some that says what’s the use? Well … simply put, the longer we can hold this off the more chance we have of getting a vaccine. In doing so … a lot of lives will be spared. Food for thought you might say. Have a great day and stay safe. GW

Happy Fathers day to all you Fathers. Once again here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada the sun is shinning and it is quite warm. Temperatures getting out of bed were sitting at 22 C | 71.6 F. The humidity outside is sitting at 78 %. Quite high. You put that with the hot temperatures and it makes being outside feel extra warm. It will warm up even more as the day progress. A cold front will move through Monday bringing an end to the heat. If we are lucky we will have a bit of rain late in the day tomorrow and into Tuesday. It would be nice as the trees and plants are in need of a good drink. Highway 522 is slow this morning which is a good thing. You know with all that is going on in the world today, I kind of like the way things are going. Folks working from home, giving their children more quality time, working around the house getting things done where as before they paid others to do things, staying away from people that are sick … and right now if you look at things, there isn’t hardly a cold or regular flu anywhere. Operations in hospitals is down to a crawl. Treatments for a lot of diseases are being healed without modern medicine and the list goes on an on. Not to forget how Nature is healing itself. Things have never been so green or the air so clean. You know, looking at things it is one of the best Fathers day’s I have ever had. LOL. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife on the front porch before the heat really sets in, and then I will enjoy taking it easy today. What am I having for Fathers day for supper. Glad you asked. Today my wife is making me a turkey with home made dressing,, cranberry sauce, and mashed potatoes with her special gravy thrown in for good measure. Then for desert we are having a strawberry cheese cake with whip cream and a drizzle of home made dark chocolate. Yep I’ll tell you …. life is sure rough here these days. LOL Have a great day, stay safe and do what is right.

Morning Report June 20/2020

Good Morning! It’s another really nice day for us here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is making its appearance with no clouds to hinder its heat. It will be quite warm today, about the same as yesterday, maybe a touch warmer. There is heat warnings up for our area. Highway 522 is quiet, but it is early. It will pick up as the day moves forward and being Saturday the LCBO will be busy once again. Actually …. it’s busy every day but more so with the heat. I can’t blame folks for wanting a bit of an escape. Today I will be working on my old Riding Lawn mower as a part broke on it yesterday while mowing. I am hoping I can fix it without to much trouble. Always something. But it is an oldie and has a lot of miles on her. It’s an old Roper LOL. I have to say … it turns more heads when I get to mowing out by the road … than a brand new one would. Ha Ha. But it runs and gets the job done. After I fix it I will then give my vegetable garden a drink, as the plants are in need. If we are lucky we should see some rain and cooler temperatures moving into our area Tuesday or Wednesday. So with that I am off for my morning cup of coffee on the front porch with my lovely wife, and will then see what mischief I can get myself into. Take care, wear a mask when around people, and keep your distance …. and on top of that don’t go into places unless it is absolutely necessary. And then … think twice about it. GW

Good Morning! Well it is looking like another really nice day shaping up for us here in Port, Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is shinning once again without a cloud in the sky. Highway 522 is getting busy these days with more folks coming into our area daily. The only thing wit that is that most aren’t wearing a mask or social distancing. Amazing to say the least. The thing I keep on telling folks is that the virus is still there and just as dangerous as it was when it started. The only reason the numbers are down is because of the precautions we were doing. For us here in Port Loring it is because we live so far off the beaten track and not many folks are here. But that could change at any given moment. But not much a few people can do about it, other than protect yourselves from those that don’t give a dam. So there you have it my rant for a Friday morning LOL. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and then will do some mowing before it gets to hot … which it is going to do later on. Take care, stay safe and do what is right. GW

Good Morning! Well … we are in the midst of another really nice day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is shinning once again without a cloud in the sky. What can be better than that? Highway 522 is slow at the time of this post, but it is early. Things will pick up as the day moves forward being so close to the weekend. The grass is slowing down somewhat so mowing day will be a bit easier. The vegetable gardens are growing leaps and bounds with fresh lettuce being eaten every day. I planted some spiced lettuce this year for the first time to see how it tastes, and I have to tell you it is really tasty. We have been enjoy it a lot. You don’t taste the spice that much and the leaves are mostly like a baby spinach in type. So with that … I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife and will then see what I can get into. That’s the nice thing about slowing down in ones old age. I do what I want … when I want. Take care and stay safe. GW

Good Morning!. It’s another really nice day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is shinning an there is hardly a cloud in the sky. Temperatures were sitting at 14.1 C | 57.38 F. Things will warm up substantially in an hour or so. It will actually be kind of a hot day. But that is what we were waiting for. The Black Flies have pretty well left us and the Mosquitoes are slowing down. This year I fixed the suns-a-guns as I bought an indoor Mosquito Zapper.. I was hesitant in buying one not knowing how they would work … but I have to say it is doing a great job. No more buzzing around my ears while trying to sleep. Ha Ha. Today I will be doing some work around the house here, then this afternoon I will work on a Podcast I have in the works for this Friday. Later on I will do some front porch sittin’ with my lovely wife. Highway 522 is getting busier every day with more folks coming in from the big cities. So knowing that we need to take extra precautions for sure. A lot of folks aren’t wearing a mask or social distancing anymore. Crazy thinking, but then again … they are human. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and then will see what the day has in store. You just never know. LOL Have a great day, stay safe and do what’s right.

At the time of this post things were sitting at 10.9 C | 51.62 F. It will warm up quite a bit today and for the remainder of the week. Summer weather has finally arrived. Highway 522 is quiet but will pick up some as the day moves forward. The black Flies are still with us but not as bad. The Mosquitoes are enjoying themselves, feeding on us humans when ever they get at chance. Today I will do some work on a new Podcast for Friday and then will maybe take in some front porch sitting. The grass has slowed down some which makes things easier and the vegetable gardens are looking good. The lettuce this year is fantastic and my wife and I are enjoying it daily. The tomatoes are starting to really grow so should be seeing some tomatoes on them shortly. Not to eat yet but you have to start somewhere LOL. What’s happening with homes in the Big Cities

Well to start off, I have been saying for years that the time will come that those that live in the cities, in homes that are worth millions, will soon be looking for places like ours here in Port Loring,. Our homes here compared to the cities like Toronto … are nothing, when it comes to price. But lately, there has been a spike in those wanting to leave the big cities moving to places like ours. Here is one article on the subject.

That allure, along with the high cost of city living, and the new knowledge that many Canadians can work from home, has more people shopping for homes outside the city.

So … in terms of money, those of us that have lived for so many years in the greatest part of Ontario … will soon see a new influx of people moving into the area. Homes that were worth only, say $60,000.00 will soon be worth in the millions. Reason being that this Virus has opened the eyes of many, finding out that close encounters isn’t a good thing. Kind of interesting. Take care and stay safe. GW

Morning Report June 14/2020

Good Morning! It’s another great looking day for us here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is shinning, not to hot and the black-flies and mosquitoes aren’t all that bad either. The winds are coming in from the North East which will keep it on the cool side of things for today, but still very nice. Tomorrow things start to warm up once again. We did have a touch of frost last night in certain parts of our property, but nothing that would cause any damage. I did however cover things up before retiring for the evening as a precaution. I could have probably did without it but better be safe than sorry. Highway 522 is quiet but it is Sunday. The Churches will be back in business soon, but I am hoping folks will still stay at home. Will they? Not likely. This social bubble they are talking about, to me is crazy thinking right now. I feel it will just make things that much worse. They say a limited amount of people will be allowed in your circle LOL Now you have more people that are going, where ever visiting you. Yep that makes sense. Oh well … we will see how it goes. For my wife and I we will continue to stay away from out sons, protecting them and us as parents should be doing, talking on the phone, and from a distance while chatting. At any rate … the powers that be will do what they want’ as always, and people will do what they want too. Be it right or wrong. It’s just human nature. But remember this … the Virus is still there, and if you keep on taking chances … it will find you. Good Luck With That! Take care, stay safe and do what you feel is right … not what others are telling you. Have a great day. GW
