Morning Report July 16/2020

Good Morning! Not to bad of a day shaping up for us here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. Other than some rain first thing. Even had a wee bit of thunder with it. But we need it. We should see a bit of sunshine as the day progresses. Temperatures were sitting at18.9 C | 66.02 F. Highway 522 is quite busy these days with folks moving around. Interesting in part. On another note my lovely wife and I did manage to install a new cover over my lean-too where I keep my firewood yesterday. Took most the morning, but it should last for around five years or so. “Thanks to my fishing buddy Barry’ who got the new cover for me and dropped it off the other day. Good friends are hard to come by these days. This morning I will do some work in the shop, maybe do a dump run, and then finish up a Podcast that I have been working on for tomorrow. With that take care, stay safe and do what’s right. GW

Good Morning! We are in the midst of some clouds here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada this morning. It looks like the clouds will remain with us for most the day. Temperatures were sitting at 20.6 C | 69.08 F. It will warm up a bit as the day progress’s. We could see some showers later on in the day and into tonight. Highway 522 is quite busy these days. But it is summer. On another note the vegetable gardens are growing leaps and bounds these days. Which is a good thing, as it saves a lot of money in not having to buy our produce at the grocery stores. And along with that … it is nice and fresh. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife, and will then let the day do as so wishes. Have a great day and stay safe. GW

morning Report July 13/2020

Good Morning! It’s another cloudy morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 15.7 C | 60.26 F. With the winds coming from the NNW. We could see a wee bit of sunshine later on along with a shower or two. Things will start to warm up once again as the week progresses. Highway 522 is busy these days with folks coming into our area, and yes a lot are moving around without wearing a mask or distancing themselves from others. Right now I would recommend that a mask should be worn at all times when out and about. Reason being, that this virus could have mutated to a more contagious form. It’s not proven yet, but it’s not looking good. With the opening up of things I wouldn’t hesitate to say that in a few weeks we will be seeing more people becoming infected. I hope I am wrong. At any rate, I feel we need to be more vigilant in protecting ourselves and others in the coming days, which won’t stop the virus, but it will slow things down. Every day we are finding more ways of treating it, and given enough time, we should be in position at the very least be able to help those that gets sick. We just need to do what is necessary to hold it back for a bit longer. Hard to do when some folks aren’t listening. But a lot are which is fantastic. With that, I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife, and then will see what the day has in store. You never know, as life is a mystery.

Take care, stay safe and do what’s right. GW

Fishing today won’t be very good today. The heat we had slowed things down and the rain didn’t help things. But it will pick up later on in the week. ‘Maybe‘. I am keeping an eye on my old weather stick, it tells all. I give it a 1 Star Rating out of 5 for catching a few. But as I always say, if your in the right place at the right time, you will be eating fish for supper.

Take care, keep your distance, have fun and good luck! GW

Morning Report July 12/2020

Good Morning from Port Loring ….. Ontario, Canada.

To start things off this morning we all woke up to clouds. But they will start to clear out of our area in awhile and we should see some sunshine later on today. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 17.9 C | 64.22 F. Temperatures and weather should be pretty good for the next few weeks now with the odd real warm day, but nothing like we have had it. Highway 522 is slow this morning but it is Sunday. On another note my gardens and things did get a much needed drink over the past two days which will help a lot. My tomatoes, pumpkins, zucchini and cucumbers are all out in blossom, with a few small ones starting to take shape. Won’t be long and we will be enjoying them with our meals. It sure is nice having a garden. Today I will work away on a Podcast I have in the works, and enjoy the day as it is given. If the sun comes out I will take in some front porch sitting with my lovely wife. With that, I am off for my morning cup of coffee. Have a great day! GW

morning report July 11/2020

Good Morning! Finally we are having a reprieve from this heat here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada.. Waking up it is still quite humid with some showers. It will continue what it is doing now for most the day. We could even see a thunderstorm here and there as the day progresses. Tomorrow we will get back to some sunshine. Highway 522 is slow this morning, but it will pick up as the day progresses. On another note yesterday in-spite of the heat, I did manage to get my grass cut around the house. Took a bit of doing but it’s done for another week. After that I kind of took it easy. My fishing buddy Barry dropped by for a visit, and we had a cool drink while sitting in the shade. From a distance. LOL So all and all a pretty good day. Today being that it is raining, I will work away here on another podcast for next Friday. With that take care, and stay safe. GW

Morning report July 9/2020

Good Morning! It looks like another warm one today here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is shinning once again without a cloud in the sky. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 20.9 C | 69.62 F. But it’s early. Things will get hot in a couple hours. The weekend should be much cooler which will make things nice for folks to do some outside work for a change. Looking forward to that. Highway 522 is a wee bit busy but slowing down a bit. I think some people understand that moving around isn’t the best thing to do at this time. Which is a good thing. Just because the government is slowly opening things up, doesn’t mean the virus is gone. It’s still there as strong as ever, maybe even stronger. But in saying that, it does amaze me that so many believe that things can go back to the way it was. Those are the ones I am naming the invisible ones LOL. Or so they think. Today I will do a bit of watering in my vegetable garden, as a few plants are drooping a wee bit. But in-spite of all the heat the plants are looking really good. My tomatoes are loaded this year, with blossoms, so I am thinking we should have a fantastic crop. I also notice our cucumbers out in blossom too and the zucchini is almost ready to blossom. So ya … no complaint in the vegetable end of things. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee on the front porch with my lovely wife, and then will see what develops. One never knows. Take care, stay safe and do what’s right. GW

morning Report July 8/2020

So how you all doing today? Good I hope. By the looks of things it is going to be another scorcher temperature wise, here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. And it will get even hotter tomorrow. So I would think it would be a good thing to find a cool spot for the next few days and relax. It doesn’t take much work to sap your energy with these temperatures. Waking up this morning temperatures were on the rise already sitting at 22 C | 71.6 F at the time of this post. The good part of this heat is that the grass has sure slowed down, which makes mowing day a lot better. Not that I mind mowing really, as it is nice to be outside getting fresh air and some exercise. Crazy year for sure. First the virus and then no end to the cold damp weather, then black-flies along with mosquitoes, and now this heat. We might live in the north, were everyone likes to visit, but it’s a challenge living here this year. But as I say, we are in the north and where anything and everything can happen. Highway 522 is still busy these days. We have been busy or should say my wife has been busy. We don’t have our store open this year because of the virus, but we are taking custom sign painting, or other painting orders … from a distance. Actually … this is the busiest year my wife has had. Locals along with out of town-ers are wanting her to do some paintings. Which helps us out a lot. So with that I am off for my morning cup of coffee once again with my lovely wife, and will then see what the day has in store. I defiantly will have to do some watering that’s for sure. Take care, stay safe, and do what’s right. GW

Morning Report July 7/2020

Good Morning! Today will be much the same as yesterday, but hotter. Hot muggy weather will be upon us for the next two weeks. I have noticed though that if your in the shade it isn’t all that bad. Actually it is quite nice. So knowing that our lawn chairs are set out in the shade. LOL. Highway 522 is very busy these days with folks moving through our area. Lot of folks from Toronto are in our area, so distancing yourselves from others is now more important than ever. Also wearing a mask would be a great asset. “Going to ‘church’, congregating in groups, going into stores when it isn’t necessary, isn’t a good thing. Doing this you are putting yourself in jeopardy along with others!!” Today I will pull some weeds in my vegetable garden until it gets hot. Then I have some work to do in the woodworking shop and after lunch I will get back to working on my Podcast for Friday. So … lots to do. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee on the front porch with my lovely wife, and then will see what develops. I make plans but sometimes the results doesn’t go as planned. LOL Take care, stay safe and do what’s right. GW

Morning Report July 6/2020

Good Morning! The good news is we did have a wee bit of rain yesterday which helped the plants a lot. Not enough but some is better than nothing. This morning waking up temperatures were sitting at 17.8 C | 64.04 F. Today will once again be a hot one with temperatures rising to the uncomfortable zone. It will get even hotter nearing the weekend. Crazy weather for sure. I suspect we will see a lot of changes in the near future with the way the poles are shifting and things like that. I got a notion that this virus isn’t the only thing that we humans have to deal with. But I suspect we will get through it somehow. Maybe. Highway 522 is quiet this morning but it will pick up. It was really busy yesterday as there was an accident on Highway 69 and traffic was detoured through out town for a few hours. On another note the black flies and mosquitoes have eased off with this heat, which is nice. But now it is to hot to do any physical work outside for any length of time. The vegetable gardens are growing leaps and bounds and I noticed that our tomato plants are now out in blossom, which means we will be having fresh tomato sandwiches in a month or so. I have to admit I sure enjoy home grown tomatoes. Our lettuce is slowly dying off so in a couple weeks when it cools down some, I will plant some more. But we can’t complain as we have had some good eating so far. We still do have lots of romaine lettuce it seems to be able to tolerate the heat more than the leaf lettuce. So with that I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife and then maybe enjoy some front porch sitting before it gets to warm. Then I will work on another Podcast for Friday. Take care, stay safe and do what’s right. GW

Morning Report July 5/2020

Good Morning! Hope you are all well. Today in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada will be warm once again. Temperatures at the time of this post were sitting at 19.6 C | 67.28 F. The weather sure has changed since this virus has entered into the picture. Some things for the better and some not so good. Highway 522 is slow this morning, but that is because it is Sunday and the day is still young. Things will pick up as the day progresses I am sure. The thing is that in our small community there isn’t that much to do, and we basically only have two hardware stores other that the LCBO. And our cell service is really bad along with our internet. So once the tourists finds that out, a lot eventually move on to places that have more to offer. Which in some ways … is a good thing. Today I will water my vegetable garden, and then work on another Podcast and stay in where it’s cool. We did manage to get the mowing all done up the other day. It was a hot one and my wife and I were very happy when it was done LOL. Have to tell you that shower felt pretty good once we were finished. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife and will let the day unfold around us. Take care, stay safe and do what’s right. I kind of think that 75% of the people are …. in certain areas.

Morning Report July 4/2020

Good Morning! We are having … a lot of sunshine here in Port Loring, Ontario, these days. Waking up temperatures were sitting at 16.3 C | 61.34 F. It’s nice at the moment but it will warm up and get hot shortly. By the looks of things this hot weather will be with us for another two weeks. So care is going to be needed if out and about. Highway 522 is really busy with a lot of people coming into our area. As I say it wouldn’t be a bad thing if they did what they are suppose to do like distancing themselves and wearing a mask. The trouble is most aren’t. The only thing I can say is, that the time will come they will be wishing they took more precautions. Opening things back up to where it was slowly is okay in certain areas, but I am thinking until a vaccine is available, things will slowly get worse, especially with what people are doing now. Some people doesn’t care, just look at what took place at Wasaga Beach, heck of a mess. All you have to do is look at Florida and how they are right now after they opened up the beaches. It’s like looking at a huge blank wall, all can see it, but a lot cares not to. Crazy thinking. Well enough of my rant here this morning LOL LOL I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife and will let the day unfold around us, maybe some front porch sitting before it gets to hot. Take care and stay safe, for those of you that care. GW

“Stay home and get tested when you feel sick, maintain physical distance when you go out, wear a mask in crowded spaces and frequently wash your hands.”

Morning Report July 3/2020

Good Morning! Well it sure was a hot one here yesterday here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. One of the hottest days we ever had. We will also have another very warm day today. Waking up temperatures were sitting at 21.7 C | 71.06 F. Actually pretty warm already and the day hasn’t started. What is really interesting is how long this warm spell is going to last, which is about two weeks. Highway 522 is busy these days with a lot of new folks wandering around looking for things to see an do LOL. Yesterday my lovely wife and I went to town to pick up our groceries. It was a nice drive and we made the day of it. We didn’t go into any stores though, but we did browse around seeing how many others were. And there were lots. There is one new case in North Bay and it was community spread so that means some one is out there spreading it around. Which also means, more care should be taken as it is like a fire, once it gets a foothold look out. Some stores we see were social distancing and a few were wearing a mask which is a good thing. Other stores are packed full by the looks of the parking lots. Other than that things are rolling along. This morning I will do some mowing around the immediate house here before it gets to hot and then water my vegetable garden. Things are in need of a drink. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my wife and will then get doing a few things. Take care, stay safe and do what’s right. GW

Morning Report July 2/2020

Good Morning!. Once again were leading up to another hot day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. Hardly a cloud in the sky. Waking up temperatures were sitting at 18.7 C | 65.66 F. Temperatures will however rise to where it is major hot today, we might even break some records. We could see it reaching a 100 Degrees F. So one is going to have to take extra care when out and about. Highway 522 is busy these days with folks coming into our area from all over. Today I will do some watering in my vegetable garden while it is early, then will see what happens after that. With that take care, stay safe, and do what’s right.

Morning report July 1/2020

Good Morning!. Well … it’s another great looking morning for us here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is shinning and temperatures at the time of this post were sitting at 18.3 C | 64.94 F. It will warm up as the day moves forward with a heat warning in effect, until sometime next week. I have to admit it was really warm yesterday. But we did get some front porch sittin’ in though, which was nice. Too hot to do much work around the house though, so for most of the day we took things a bit easy inside where it was cool. Today will be much of the same. Highway 522 is busy these days with folks moving around a lot. The black-flies are all but gone and the mosquitoes are slowing down with this heat. But in saying that the horse and deer flies are starting to be annoying for some folks. Not much a person can do about that. On a good note the gardens are growing leaps and bounds, and I suspect my tomato plants will start showing some blossoms soon … which hopefully with bring on some nice tomatoes for sandwiches with in a few weeks. The grass also has slowed down, which will make the work load each week ease off for a spell. The daisies and butter cups are out in full bloom which is nice to see. I would have to say they are my favourite of all the wild flowers other than the Dandelion. Nature is nice if you take the time to seek things out. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife on the front porch before it gets too warm. Take care, stay safe, do what’s right and don’t go into any stores, unless it is absolutely necessary. GW
