Avian influenza (AI), commonly known as “bird flu”, is a contagious viral infection that can affect several species of food producing birds as well as pet birds and wild birds. AI viruses can be classified into 2 categories: low pathogenicity (LPAI) and high pathogenicity (HPAI) viruses, based on the severity of the illness caused in birds.

Now here is another virus that affects animals that is slowly spreading into our country. When I look at something like that, it gets my mind to wondering …. What If or when will it transfer to humans. I kind of think it is just a matter of time. Hate to think that way, but it’s the way I am, and so far throughout my life, my instincts have pretty well been right on the money.
