Head Board

Well I finally finished the Head Board for our new bed. It is made out of solid hard maple including the panels. No bolts other than the ones holding it to the bed frame. All pieces are held together with Mortise and Tenon joints. One of a kind and will last for years. GW

Picnic Table

Here is a picnic table I made for a lady a few years ago. It turned out well and she was happy. I made it out pine, sealed it, and stained it natural with a coat of marine varnish. It should last for years sitting outside. It took two days to cut out and put together. GW

Baby Chair

Here is a baby’s high chair I made for our Grandson a few years back. It is made from hard maple. It turned out quite nice. There were no complaints from our Grandson. GW

The Wizard of Oz

Awhile back my wife took an order for an Early American Style Deacon’s Bench. I have made hundreds of these in the old woodworking shop over the years. It was made from white pine. It has a storage spot under the seat which is a lid. Sometimes I put the lid on the top of the seat, sometimes I put it in the front. Either way works just fine. Then to make it even nicer my lovely wife painted the characters from the Wizard of Oz on the top Rail. The customer was thrilled. GW

Potato & Onions

Here is a potato and onion bin I made for another customer. I have made hundreds over the years. Most are made from white knotty pine with keeping the lid clear so paintings can be done. Of course my lovely wife does all the painting. GW

Lamps

Here is another project I did awhile back. I made 4 of these and all sold within a week. I have to admit they turned out nice. They are made out of White Birch from a tree that came down in my yard after a storm. GW

Buffet and Hutch

Here is another project I made for a lady which she loved. The only issue was, that after I made it, my lovely wife wanted one for her kitchen. So … I made her one. It has floating panel doors and is made out of white and red pine, with a sold back. My lovely wife painted then distressed it. Turned out quite nice. GW

Small Cabinet

Here is a smaller Early American Cabinet I made awhile ago for a customer. It consists of a floating raised panel door, a drawer and two shelves along with a solid back. Made out of white pine, stained in an Early American. Nice piece, the customer liked it a lot. That’s all that matters. I enjoyed making it too which is a plus. GW

Christmas Sleigh

Here is a two pictures of a Sleigh I made for a customer and my lovely wife painted it afterwords. The customer said the paining was a treasure. I agree with that. GW

Walking Stick Flute

Here is a Flute that I made awhile back from a large root of a tree. It took a lot of work but when all said and done it turned out magnificent. I only had it in the store for a couple days when someone came in to buy it. It sold for over $500.00 which is a modest price for the work that went into it. I enjoy making them, but problems arise finding the right piece to make them out of. GW

armoire

Another piece of furniture I made years ago in my shop was an Armoire. The wood I used to make the doors, was knotty pine. The sides and solid back was made from 100 year old White Oak. Let me tell you, that Oak was hard as nails to sand, and I was sure glad when it was finished. It was one of those jobs you wished you never started. But it got done, and the customer was very happy.

Wooden Pez- Holder

For those that liked the candy that came with a Pez holder, I thought I would share a picture of a shelf unit I made many years ago. I have to say the lady had a great collection. It’s an old picture but it will give you an idea of how I made it. GW

Swing Set

Here is a picture of a Swing I made just before moving here to Port Loring. My wife and I enjoyed many an evening sitting together in it enjoying the evening hours. GW

Scroll Saw

Here is a picture that shows you what my old Beaver Scroll Saw looked like. It was a great machine never letting me down. I have to admit I miss that saw. It has a cap on the top that you put grease into which in turn keeps things lubricated. The other nice thing is, you can take a narrow band saw blade, cut it up and you have numerous blades for a cheap price, which don’t break. I thought I would share. GW

You Gotta See The Fluture Flutes

It has been awhile since my last post. So many things taking place these days that I just haven’t had time to do much writing or posting here on the Blog. Finally, we finished up our new flutes. They are called  Fluture Flutes, reason being it is a Flute of the future.  For over 30 years I have been making Flutes wanting to perfect a scale that will not just play one but will play dozens.  A mistake took me to what I was looking for.  From there I perfected it over and over till the Flutes took on a sound like no other.  I then stream lined them so to speak, installing a Totem on the top that sets things right.  Each Flute is made from exotic woods all inlaid so not one is the same. To appreciate their true beauty one has to come and see.  I added a picture of our collection, one of the largest in Canada.  Drop by, you will never see or hear Flutes of this calibre anywhere. They almost play themselves!!

Items To Chat About

Well been quite a year for my wife and I here in Port Loring.  Customers & friends have been steadily stopping by our small store all summer.  Great to see them and have a bit of a chat.  I have to say this past year has been the busiest since we moved here 13 years ago.  Amazing how time flies.  And to add to that, all have been great years.  Made some good friends over the years too.  This winter we decided to not go to Florida as I have a lot of orders for my Flutes which I have been making for over 30 years.  It is a challenge filling my orders, as each Flute takes a great amount of time to make.  For years I have strive to better my Flutes, along with coming up with my own scale of music that can be played on them.  For most parts Native American Flutes play a peaceful array of sounds.  That is fine but I wanted something different, something more, something better.  I have always said a person can ride along on the shoulders of others, but if they want to be known for years to come they have to climb down and take back the reigns.  Which I have done.  As of this year I have invented a new Flute that is all together different than the old Native American Flute.  We have come up with a name which is called FlutureFlute. It in all essence is a Flute of the Future, there is none like it anywhere.  It has the same features, sort of, as the old ones, but the looks and cosmetics along with the Pentatonic Scale has changed.  It sings like no other Flute but yet one can still play the old scales if needed.  As I say it took me years to come up with a scale of music that this flute can play.  Then to design the flute so that scale can be played and sound fantastic took some doing.  But in the end, all paid off and I am sure in the coming days, months and years it will be one great Flutureflute.

New Addition For Equipment & Things

Took a picture of a lean-to that I am adding to the back of our store.  Need a bit more storage for my mowers and things and now can drive the riding mower right in along with the snow-blower come winter. Will be nice to have it so near the house, as my old spot was down over the hill and we are thinking of taking it down, before it falls down.  So thought I would share. Will take another as things get done.  Talk Soon.

Native American Pipe Info

Did You Know A medicine pipe is a sacred tool of Native tradition used to bring one closer  to the Creator.  The smoke acts as a communication device, bridging the two worlds closer together.

New Shop Addition

Well needed a piece that would hold my work for making my Branch Flutes> Got to say it sure works slick. An old Shaver Bench modified to my liking. Took a bit of doing but end results are more than I expected. Thought I would let you folks have a look. Talk Soon.

This Weeks Project In The Old Woodworking Shop

Well had to stop the Flute making for a couple days to make this bench for a nice lady here in town.  Thought I would share.  Talk Soon.
