George Walters is a Canadian columnist and author with more than forty years of writing experience. For over twenty years he has written a weekly column for Postmedia Network — Canada's largest newspaper chain — never missing a single week, publishing fifty-two stories a year. Combined with his work in Reader's Digest Community Voices, World News, Country Living, The Country Register, and farm and rural lifestyle magazines across Canada, he has published well over two thousand stories drawn from everyday life. He writes about farm work, fishing, old trucks, and the kind of people you only find in small towns — but just as likely he'll hand a voice to a weathered telephone pole, or turn his eye on something happening in the world today and tell you exactly what he thinks about it. No subject is off limits. If there's a story in it, George will find it. He has been called a philosopher of everyday life, a description that came up more than once during his television appearances over the years — and it's not hard to see why. His writing has a way of making the ordinary feel worth sitting with. He is the author of eleven books, including yearly short story collections and the Clay Moretti Files mystery series. Clay is a fifty-year-old private investigator who drives a 1967 Ford Galaxie, smokes cigars, and operates by a code the modern world gave up on a long time ago. The cases are present day. The man handling them is not. All titles are available in paperback and eBook on Amazon. Together, George and his wife Ruth have also created Elmer Finds His Way, the first in what he hopes will be a long series of children's books. Ruth did all the illustrations, as she has for every one of George's books — and beyond that she designed and painted the covers as well. Her work is woven into every page of everything he has published. A few words from readers: "I pulled up a kitchen chair and read your story three times." "You have a way of making a person homesick for a place they haven't been to." "Thank you for writing things that make old people and kids feel the same way at the same time." All my titles are available in paperback and eBook on Amazon.ca here.

Fishing Information:  This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 7:00 AM – 9:30 AM.  Then once again from 4:00 PM – 6:30 AM.  I give it a 5 fish rating out of 5 for catching a few.  One of the best days this year for fishing.  Be it large mouth bass or pickerel. Good Luck!

Body Pain Related To Weather:  Today the weather will be a help to those suffering from Rheumatism (Body & joint pain.)   Another great day to enjoy outside soaking up some much needed sunshine.

Around Town:  Not to much to report here on this find Sunday morning.  Stores are quiet but it is to be expected here in our small town this time of year.    Gardens are winding down somewhat with potatoes ready to be dug.  Garlic is strung up drying along with beets dug and reburied in a dry spot for winter.  In all respects things are going as planned.  Even the weather is co-operating these days.  With that heading off for my morning tea.  Turmeric is my choice this morning.   Good now and then, helps clean the blood and removes inflammation.  Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Around Town: Still quiet around town. Tourists are slowing down some what.  We have been exceptionally busy the past few days with day trippers stopping in picking up  a few items of choice.  Great to see.  For those that E-Mailed and called us, we now have a third batch of our new health book printed up and ready for sale.  Couldn’t keep up with the orders there for a spell.  Good to see folks interested in ones health. With that will head on off for my morning tea and let the day take its course.  Enjoy your day, make it a good day.                                                                                                                                       Inquiries:  [email protected]

Information For Port Loring Ontario

Good Morning:  Well nice looking day taking shape here in Port Loring Ontario.  Temperatures were sitting at 11.5 C | 52.7 F.

Forecast For Today:  A day one can do just about anything.  Changeable early, then mending. Lots of sunshine with warm temperatures for the week.  Enjoy.

Bug Report: All is good today.

Highway Report:  Travelling will be good, Highway 522 is quiet with the heavy trucks done most of their work on the highway.  Happy about that.

Fishing Information: Today will be very good for fishing.  I give it a 4 fish rating out of 5 for catching a few.  The old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM.  Then once again later on from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM.  Lots of time to bring in your catch of the day.  Good Luck!

Pain Related To Weather:  Today the weather will help those that have Rheumatism and joint pain.  Good day to get outside and soak up of that much needed sunshine.  Better than any flu shot. My opinion of course.

Around Town:  Things are quiet business wise.  Most tourists have left us for another year.  Few day trippers dropping by our store along with friends coming in to say hello.  Other than that I have most all my outside work done up for the year.  Bit more firewood will be brought in once I get my furnace all fixed up and cleaned.  Then should be all set for what is to come.  Gardens also need some attention and will get at that once what I have is finished producing.  With that enjoy your day, stay safe and make it a great day.
