George Walters is a Canadian columnist and author with more than forty years of writing experience. For over twenty years he has written a weekly column for Postmedia Network — Canada's largest newspaper chain — never missing a single week, publishing fifty-two stories a year. Combined with his work in Reader's Digest Community Voices, World News, Country Living, The Country Register, and farm and rural lifestyle magazines across Canada, he has published well over two thousand stories drawn from everyday life. He writes about farm work, fishing, old trucks, and the kind of people you only find in small towns — but just as likely he'll hand a voice to a weathered telephone pole, or turn his eye on something happening in the world today and tell you exactly what he thinks about it. No subject is off limits. If there's a story in it, George will find it. He has been called a philosopher of everyday life, a description that came up more than once during his television appearances over the years — and it's not hard to see why. His writing has a way of making the ordinary feel worth sitting with. He is the author of eleven books, including yearly short story collections and the Clay Moretti Files mystery series. Clay is a fifty-year-old private investigator who drives a 1967 Ford Galaxie, smokes cigars, and operates by a code the modern world gave up on a long time ago. The cases are present day. The man handling them is not. All titles are available in paperback and eBook on Amazon. Together, George and his wife Ruth have also created Elmer Finds His Way, the first in what he hopes will be a long series of children's books. Ruth did all the illustrations, as she has for every one of George's books — and beyond that she designed and painted the covers as well. Her work is woven into every page of everything he has published. A few words from readers: "I pulled up a kitchen chair and read your story three times." "You have a way of making a person homesick for a place they haven't been to." "Thank you for writing things that make old people and kids feel the same way at the same time." All my titles are available in paperback and eBook on Amazon.ca here.

Around Town:  Well the heat once again has been taking toll on the plants and things.  Sure a hard summer for growing things.  I am surprised though at how nice my tomatoes are.  Taste is excellent with one wanting more. A few days ago I planted another row of spinach for fall eating with sprouts showing off already.  On another note today is our Cornfest which should make for some nice entertainment.  Weather wise it will be quite nice.  Great thing about it most of the event will be under cover which will make it just that much more inviting, especially with this heat.  For all the information related to this event click flyer below. I would also like to thank all those that have been in touch letting me know how much they enjoy the Blog.  Makes it all worth while.  With that enjoy your day, don’t get to hot and make it a great day.  Inquiries: [email protected]

Around Town: Quiet is about all one can say in regards to business. On my part I have been steadily bringing in firewood.  I found it to be extra dry this year, caused by the hot weather we had there for a few weeks. Should make for some nice burning this coming winter. Gardens are still doing quite well.  Tomatoes are in abundance with my lovely wife doing them up in different dishes each day for winter.  With that will head  off for my morning tea.  Orange pekoe this morning with a touch of dandelion is our preference.  Enjoy your day to the fullest.  Inquiries:  [email protected]

Around Town. For the last day of August it is quiet around town. Business’s are slowing down somewhat which is the sign of what is to come.  Firewood is being piled high for winter with the thoughts of winter on folks minds.  Trees like pines are dropping their needles and have been for the past few weeks.  Knowing that heavy snow will be upon them soon enough.  Plants have shed most their leaves with the dry weather we been having in hopes of saving themselves for next year.  Critters are moving slow also in hopes of gaining energy and fat to hold them through the cold days which is sure to come.  Lots happening around us humans if we choose to look.  With that heading off for my morning tea and will see what the day has in store. Never really know, start off with one thing end up with doing another.  Nice to be able to do that in itself.  Have a good day.  Inquiries:  [email protected]

Around Town:  Not much happening, folks are closing up cottages or leaving camp sites, others are enjoying their cottages or camp sites.  Seems one trend leaves another makes an appearance.  We have been quite busy in our small store this year.  Lots of folks dropping by picking up their items of choice.  Some come just for a visit.  What ever the reason we enjoy seeing them. We believe you come as a customer and leave as a friend. Gardens are doing quite well these days.  In spite of all the dry weather we had.  Amazing how plants adapt and regain their strength after hardships.  If only humans could recoup as quick.  With that heading off for my morning tea and will see what the day has in store.  Enjoy your day, make it a great day, a day to remember.  Inquiries:  [email protected]
