George Walters is a Canadian columnist and author with more than forty years of writing experience. For over twenty years he has written a weekly column for Postmedia Network — Canada's largest newspaper chain — never missing a single week, publishing fifty-two stories a year. Combined with his work in Reader's Digest Community Voices, World News, Country Living, The Country Register, and farm and rural lifestyle magazines across Canada, he has published well over two thousand stories drawn from everyday life. He writes about farm work, fishing, old trucks, and the kind of people you only find in small towns — but just as likely he'll hand a voice to a weathered telephone pole, or turn his eye on something happening in the world today and tell you exactly what he thinks about it. No subject is off limits. If there's a story in it, George will find it. He has been called a philosopher of everyday life, a description that came up more than once during his television appearances over the years — and it's not hard to see why. His writing has a way of making the ordinary feel worth sitting with. He is the author of eleven books, including yearly short story collections and the Clay Moretti Files mystery series. Clay is a fifty-year-old private investigator who drives a 1967 Ford Galaxie, smokes cigars, and operates by a code the modern world gave up on a long time ago. The cases are present day. The man handling them is not. All titles are available in paperback and eBook on Amazon. Together, George and his wife Ruth have also created Elmer Finds His Way, the first in what he hopes will be a long series of children's books. Ruth did all the illustrations, as she has for every one of George's books — and beyond that she designed and painted the covers as well. Her work is woven into every page of everything he has published. A few words from readers: "I pulled up a kitchen chair and read your story three times." "You have a way of making a person homesick for a place they haven't been to." "Thank you for writing things that make old people and kids feel the same way at the same time." All my titles are available in paperback and eBook on Amazon.ca here.

Weather wise it is looking good out there this morning.  Sun will shine all day so no reason not to get some vitamin D which we all need.  Winds are calm coming in from the West. Barometer is holding steady this morning at 29.18 in HG. The old weather stick says hunting today will be good from 10:06 AM till 12:06 PM.  That gives you time to warm up some and then get back out there for another hour from 4:17PM till 5:17 PM.  Should be a pretty fair day for hunting and tomorrow will be even better.  Why? Take a look at the moon, she tells all.

Hunting, Weather & Comments From Port Loring Ontario

Well good morning.  Cool morning with some frost laying on top of things.  Just finished lighting the old wood furnace, actually it lit itself, as I just put the papers and kindling in her and away it went. Must have had a spark from yesterday still in there.  So….figured it knew its job and went to work all on its own.  The old barometer is still rising and at the moment sitting at 29.15 in Hg.  We will have lots of sunshine today for a change, with temperature reaching  49 °f and then later on tonight it will dip down to 35 °f.  So looks like not so bad with day time temperatures for the next week hovering in the high 40s and some days into the low 50s. If your up to doing some hunting today as fishing I would think is pretty well wrapped up for the year, well the best times for that would be from 9:15 AM till 11:15 AM then again from 3:51 PM till 4:51 PM.  I give it a one star rating out of five.   But one just never knows. The moon will rise this morning at 2:25 AM & set at  3:51 PM.  It will then be overhead at     9:15 AM & underfoot at 9:41 PM.

Not much else happening around town.  Kind of quiet actually for a change.  Good change though, as after a busy summer the home bodies are ready for a bit of time for themselves and family of course.  I know my wife and I are. Got lots planned for this winter, with the making of some more flutes and items for our store.  Then will see if I can find some time to get into writing that novel, that I have wanted to do now for the past four years.  Looking forward to doing that.  When I get to writing, a whole new world opens up to me. New characters show themselves and there for awhile, you could say I have a whole new family.  Have a good day my friends, make the best of it.
