Well to start things off we have had a touch of snow through the night, and it is still snowing a bit as I am doing this write-up here this morning. It is possible that we could see about 1″ or so before it’s done. That will depend on if the temperature rises above the freezing mark. At the moment, it is sitting at -0.6 C | 30.92 F. It’s kind of on the borderline right now.

Highway 522 is wet and bare at the moment. We aren’t seeing all that much traffic these days as the weather has been quite wet, and the Hunters aren’t moving around much these days. Hard to believe, and Deer season will be on us in another couple weeks. Time sure flies by these days, let me tell ya. Least for us.

On another note, I didn’t do all that much yesterday, I kind of took it easy as my old body didn’t want to do much. I did get to the dump, though. Going there, I noticed the leaves are just about gone for another year, but it still was quite nice. I enjoy where we live other than the cold. Seems it bothers me more the older I get. The good part is our home is warm and once I get my old woodworking shop warmed up it is a place I can do a few things. It keeps the stinkin’ thinkin’ away. Which is needed these days. With that, I am off for my morning bowl of oatmeal that my lovely wife is making for me, and will then see about lighting up my shop stove. I will see. I might just stay in the house today, as I do want to finish up another Podcast for tomorrow. My wife makes up different meals for winter now and then, so that come supper time, if she has been busy all day it is a quick fix and a healthy one too.

So how you all doing this morning? Good I hope.

It sure is a nice morning. The sun is shinning without a cloud in the sky. The temperature was cool through the night, which made it real nice for sleeping with the window open. Waking up they were sitting at … 15.9 C | 60.62 F. I went out to water my pumpkins, sunflowers and cucumbers this morning. It sure is nice to be able to do that. With me being laid up I haven’t been able to get around all summer.

You know … we take so much for granted in life. Until something happens a person doesn’t truly understand how lucky we are just to be able to walk outside.

On anther note Highway 522 was pretty busy yesterday. Lots of campers, trucks and cars moving around. Actually our store did pretty good this year after being closed for two years. We also had a lot of our friends drop by for a visit to see how we are doing. Makes my day when I see them. I also have had an overwhelming number of people emailing, calling and writing me, letting me know how much they are enjoying my Podcasts and my Columns in the newspapers. It is sure nice to hear that they are enjoying them. Talking about my Columns … not being able to move hardly for over 4 months I had lots of time to sit and write. Thanks to my son Karl who set me up with a Lap Top. I am not able to sit at my desk. The thing I feel good about is, I didn’t waste the days doing nothing. I have always felt that it is very important to make the most out of every day.

With all that I have just wrote here this morning … I am off for my breakfast that my lovely wife is making for me. I wouldn’t be where I am today without her. Kind of makes me think of a story I wrote a long time ago.

It was about the team of Clydesdale’s we used to have when we were on the farm. When one of them got hurt the other one picked up the slack. I called that story Team Work. Anyways you all have a great day. GW

Good Morning!

It looks like things are shaping up to be one really nice Saturday here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is shinning without hardly a cloud in the sky. The temperature getting out of bed was sitting at 13.7 C | 56.66 F. It will warm up nicely as the day moves forward. The winds are light, coming in from the SSW. Highway 522 is still quiet for this time of year, but it is picking up with more tourists coming into our area along with folks from the big cities opening up their cottages for summer.

The black flies have all but left us, but the mosquitoes are edging into our area and will continue to do so until it gets really warm. The Dragon Flies, though, are making short work of them as they eat them by the thousands. While I was working in my vegetable garden yesterday, they were cleaning them up around my head. The deer flies however are annoying to say the least. But that is the joy of living where we do. You can’t have everything perfect in life. And do I know that.

On another note, we opened our small gift shop yesterday. We had a good turn out for the first day and I suspect now that folks know that we are open after being closed for two years they will start dropping by even more. At least, we hope so. I need to make enough money to put a new roof on our home, and a pair of new work shoes would be nice too. Haha.

Yesterday I overdid it again and my old body got to hurting, so I guess I am going to have to take it easy for a month and see if I can get things back to normal. Hard thing to do for this old feller, but it has to be done. The alternative isn’t good if I don’t. With that I am off for a waffle that my lovely wife is preparing for me and will then see what the day has in store. Take care and have a great day. Enjoy that sunshine while it lasts. GW

And it is a good morning. The sun is shinning down upon us, hardly no wind to speak of, and things are warming up nicely. And on top of all that, all the mothers, had a great Mother’s Day. At least weather wise. What can be better than that. Not much in my eyes. Highway 522 is busy these days and getting busier every day. It is nice travelling weather, if you can afford the gas.

On another note, I managed to almost finish off our road-side stand yesterday. I just have to do some painting on the old wheels and then will see if we can roll it out front. It will be nice to have a spot that we can sell some veggies and things this summer on. And with the new steel roof it should keep the sun off things too.

Today I will finish it up and see about rototilling up my vegetable gardens. So with them things in mind, they should keep me busy for most of the day. Have a great day and stay safe. GW
