Here is an old farm recipe for chocolate sauce that is perfect for ice cream: My Favorite!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
- In a medium saucepan, mix together the sugar, cocoa powder, and salt until well combined.
- Add the heavy cream/table cream, and butter to the saucepan and heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the butter has melted, and the mixture is smooth.
- Bring the mixture to a boil and continue to stir for 1–2 minutes until the sauce has thickened slightly.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Let the chocolate sauce cool for a few minutes before serving over your favorite ice cream.
