Good Morning. It’s a nice looking day here in Port Loring, Ontario. Especially with the sunshine. The temperature getting out of bed was sitting at 10.9 C | 51.62 F. It will warm up as the day moves forward. And by the looks of things we should be having some sunshine now for the next week or so. The temperatures will also remain quite nice. Highway 522 was fairly busy yesterday, mostly with trucks working in our area. But there were a lot of cars, trucks and campers too. Yesterday I worked away bringing in our firewood for winter. I surprised myself and got most of it all in. I will easily finish it this morning, that is … if my old body holds up, LOL. So far, so good. Amazing really with all the work that my lovely wife and I have done this summer. It’s hard to believe I am able to do what I am doing being the age I am. I guess it all boils down with what is in one’s mind and eating healthy. Let’s hope it keeps up the good work. This morning, I started the oil furnace for the first time. Mainly to see if it still works, and to take out the dampness from the house. With that humid weather we had from them storms coming up from the south, the old house was pretty damp. It seems to be working good so far. The tornado watch we had yesterday didn’t amount to anything in our area. Which is a good thing, as we sure don’t need them. On another note, my vegetable gardens are about had it for this year. My wife has been steadily putting things into the freezer for later use in between her painting orders and other things. I have to say, we had a very good crop of peppers this year. We also had a good crop of potatoes, which will sure be nice this winter. I found last year the potatoes in the stores weren’t very good. Most of every bag we bought we had to throw away. Actually, it was that way for a good number of items. The thing is we paid good money for them and to throw them away … well let’s just say it isn’t good. That was the reason I decided to grow my own this year. I would think we will have around three bushels or so. I haven’t dug them yet, as I like to leave them in the ground as long as I can. That way, they will last for most of the winter in our basement. The thing is you have to keep them where it is dark leaving some dirt on them, in the open, where the air can get around them, and it should be cool where you store them. With that bit of information under your hat, I am off for my morning bowl of oatmeal with my lovely wife, and then I will get to work. I can’t wait to get outside and breath in some of our northern air. Take care and stay safe. So far here in Ontario we are doing pretty good with this virus that is among us. Let’s hope we keep it up. I think the reason is that we live in a country that the people live quite a way apart. In other countries, they are packed in like sardines. Good Morning! It’s a cool morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The temperature waking up was sitting at 10.7 C | 51.26 F. It will warm up a touch as the day moves forward. The winds are coming in from the SS East, which isn’t the best. I suspect there will be showers or rain off and on throughout the day. We could see a bit of sunshine, but for most parts the clouds will remain with us. Highway 522 is slowing down more every day, now that the kids are back to school and the weather is getting colder. I can’t say I blame them. For myself, in one way I am glad winter is coming as my lovely wife and I will get a much-needed rest after all the work we have done this summer. But I don’t look forward to the cold and snow. And by looking at nature, we could see a lot of snow with some pretty good storms thrown in for good measure this winter. It might pay to put in some extra firewood along with picking up some extra gas for your generator. A generator is a good investment in this area. Yesterday I worked away in my woodworking shop getting it set up for making things this winter. Today I think I will start to bring in our firewood for winter. That usually takes us three days. I feel better when it is in the basement, piled high and dry. Nothing like having the wood right at your fingertips. Some have these outside furnaces. Mine is in my basement, where all I have to do is put on my slippers and feed it without going out into the blowing snow. But to each their own. With that, I am off for my morning bowl of oatmeal. It is healthy and stays with you for most of the morning, which is what a person needs in this neck of the woods. I only give it a 1-Star Rating out of 5 for catching a few. But you never know. If you’re in the right place at the right time, you could pull in one or two. Good Morning. It’s a cloudy morning once again here in Port Loring, Ontario. It is a bit cool with the winds coming in from the North, with the temperature sitting at 10 C | 50 F. Things should clear and warm up somewhat, and we will see some sunshine later on as the day moves forward. Highway 522 is busy to some extent, but has quieted down a lot. Highway 11 has also slowed down a wee bit, with folks not wanting to come up to where it is starting to get cold. Good in some ways, not so good in other ways. LOL Yesterday my lovely wife and I had a change of plans and decided to go to North Bay for a few things, as Sunday there aren’t that many people in the stores that we needed to go to. We had a nice trip to town and, while there, had lunch in our car and enjoyed a coffee on our way home that my wife made before we left. I don’t care much for any coffee that is being sold in coffee shops these days. It’s just not the same as what my wife makes. The price you have to pay for it in the coffee shops is outrageous, too. I don’t know how they justify it. But then again, the price of things have to go up, with the wages folks are being paid. Not much we can do about it now, that we have become a society of want. Today I will get to work in my woodworking shop setting things up for winter. I have a huge amount of orders to fill, which with my podcasts and stories that need to be written, will probably take me most of the winter. So lots to do. But I do enjoy doing these things. Good Morning. It’s a cloudy morning here in Port Loring Ontario. I am thinking we will see some sunshine later on with the weather improving. The temperature getting out of bed was sitting at 11.6 C | 52.88 F with the winds coming in from the SSW. It will warm up as the day moves forward. Highway 522 is still busy, but not as much traffic as there was a couple of weeks ago. Which is nice for a change. On another note, I finished painting my front door yesterday, well … I still have to put on one more coat. It looks pretty nice. It’s these cosmetic things that brings everything together. Furthermore, it’s like building a Million-Dollar House. If you don’t landscape it properly, it won’t look as it should. No appeal. The thing is, you don’t need a Million Dollar home. An old home to me with a great landscape and a bit of land is what it is all about. If someone bought an older home, put some money into the landscaping, fixed up the inside along with some paint, it would beat any Million Dollar home hands down. Today people have to have huge homes, and if you were to take a close look at them, you would find that there is probably no more than two or three people living in them. All that space costs money to keep maintained. To me, they are just cold in looks and comfort. But to each their own. Today I am going to work in my woodworking shop getting things ready to make a bunch of orders I have lined up for next spring. Along with that, we are planning on having a grand new re-opening next spring, after being closed for the past two years. That is, if things goes to plan with this virus that is among us. I think things will settle down as time goes by, that is, if people start doing what they should be doing. It’s still not the time to let down our defences, as this virus is out to get us humans.
