This is the place to look for happenings here in Port Loring and surrounding areas. Also any news, events, pictures and things that you folks send me will be put in this category along with what ever I come up with.

George’s Daily Post November 12

Good Morning:  Well rainy day here in Port Loring Ontario. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 6.2 C | 43.16 F.  Today will be somewhat stormy, much rain.

Pain Related To Weather:  Today the weather can cause lots of problems for those with joint or body pain.  (Rheumatism) Care should be taken.

Hunting Times: If it wasn’t for the rain it would be a pretty good day for hunting. I give it a 4 out of 5 rating for seeing a few. The old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 9:30 AM – 1:00 PM. Then a bit later on from 4:00 PM – 7:30 PM. Good Luck!

Snow Report:  Nothing so far this year.

Around Town:  Here in Port Loring things are quiet.  Around North Bay is another story.  Took a drive there yesterday with my lovely wife and stores were very busy.  Thinking everyone in Port Loring was there shopping.  Good to see as it assures me folks are not just sitting around.  Also pays to spread the money around somewhat.  We had a great day, visited out son Karl, went for lunch at East Side Mario’s which by the way was quite nice.  Food was excellent and waitress’s couldn’t be nicer.  Later on went to Twiggs Coffee Roasters for a milk shake.  If your in town give it a try as there isn’t a better milk shake to be found anywhere. Of course their coffee is great too.  So with that heading off for my morning tea and will see what the day brings my way.  Great to be able to sit back and do what ever one wants.  Enjoy your day and stay safe if out roaming around in the bush.  Lots of hunters out there, with guns.  That should tell you something.

Around Town:  Not much happening around town in the way of events and things, which is normal for this time of year.  Myself I got a bit of outside work to finish up and then be ready for winter.  With that enjoy your day, stay safe and make it a great day.  Only you can do that.

Hunting Report:  Had a friend drop by yesterday with a nice buck in the back of his truck.  Had a smile on his face wider than the truck.  Can’t say I blame him neither.  So far I haven’t had any luck but one never knows.  Still one more week left in rifle season.  Today the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 6:00 AM – 9:00 AM.  Then a bit later on from 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM.  Will be a good day for hunting.  I give it a 4 buck rating out of 5 for seeing a few.  Good Luck!

Around Town:  Quiet these days.  More so than others with our power being off for two days and one night.  Thanks goes out to those that invented generators.  I had ours running for nearly two full days.  Worked good though, making things easy.  Also the wood heat kept us nice and cosy.  So with that will head off for my morning tea. Orange Pekoe this morning with a touch of Dandelion.  Enjoy your day and try and soak up a bit of sunshine.  In doing so no flu shot is needed.  It’s my opinion they don’t work, other than inject all kinds of other problems into ones body.  Enjoy your day.

Happenings In Port Loring Nov. 6

Good Morning:  Wet morning here in Port Loring  Ontario.  Heavy rain accompanied by high winds is upon us and will remain that way for most the day.  At the time of post temperatures were sitting at 15 C | 59 F. Will start to cool down as the day progresses.  Could even see a flurry later on.

Pain Related To Weather:  Today the weather will play havoc with folks that suffer from joint and body pain.  Even so with those that doesn’t.  Just one of those days.  Main things is to watch your step and keep dry and warm, but not so warm that dries things out.

Hunting Information:  Not the greatest day for hunting.  Can’t really see anyone would want to be out there today.  Miserable day for hunting but a great day for playing cards and enjoying nature from the inside looking out.    I hunted four days with the Booth family and had no luck.  But still have another week so one just never knows.  I did see a moose yesterday, had my adrenalin moving a bit till it came into full view.  Amazing how quietly they can move through the bush.  Also Cadger one of the group did get a shot off at one buck but wasn’t to be.  Few stories went around the camp later on about that incident.   Also my thanks goes out to Kerry, Randy, Cathy and Jack and of course Cadger, Nick and the rest of the group for an enjoyable few days.  Lots of laughs and some good memories were made.  Also a special thanks to Kerry for his use of his ATV along with keeping me safe.  Fantastic machine, went places I didn’t think was possible.  A few that I still don’t think is possible.  I had a great time.

Highway Report:  Highway 522 is wet and with the high winds care should be taken if out and about.

Around Town:  Hardly a car moving east to west.  Time of year that folks are taking things easy.  I still have some garlic to plant along with burying  some old potatoes in hopes they will bring on some new ones come spring.  Will get at that once the weather clears up.  With that I am heading off for my morning tea and will see what the day has in store.  One just never knows.  Main thing is to take things in stride.  Enjoy your day and stay safe if out there hunting.

Around Town:  Well hunting season is upon us starting on Monday, which will last for two weeks.  Least wise for rifle’s.  Bow season will follow.  For two weeks a lot of folks in our town head on out to the bush in hopes of bringing in some food for winter.  Sounds cruel to some, but in reality it is the way things have been done for many years.   All in how you look at things.  Put  in their right perspective no one should, have a problem with it.  For those that do, well let me say I understand.  With that I am off for my morning tea.  Orange Pekoe this morning.  Enjoy your day and stay safe.  Make it a good day.  Only you can do that. Nothing like wood heat.  Enjoy your day, make it a good day.
