Good Morning!

It’s a cloudy morning here in Port Loring. We did have some much needed rain yesterday. Enough to fill our rain barrel. Not that I am going to be needing it anymore this year. Yesterday my wife and I went to town for supplies. Most of the trip we had sunshine which made it a nice drive there and back. The leaves are sure starting to change colors now. In two more weeks they will be really showing off. It sure is amazing what Mother Nature is capable of doing. She has many talents some good some not so good. I also noticed that they are spraying a lot of weed killers along the sides of highway 522. Which I don’t agree with it. Thousands of gallons of week killers which eventually goes right into our lakes, streams and wells. There is no reason for it neither. What they have to understand … as many humans … that weeds are good … not bad.

On another note today I will see about finishing up installing a new door at the back of our home. I can only do a bit at a time with my lovely wife’s help. The hard part is finished now though … I just have to pretty it up some. I missed being able to do these things all summer. With that I am off for a bowl of cereal, and will then see what the day has in store … other than what I have planned. Stay safe. GW

Good Morning!

It’s a cloudy morning here in Port Loring and rain is in the forecast for today. Actually we could see some thunder storms thrown in for good measure over the next couple days. The temperatures will also start to cool down some as the week progresses. Waking up it was sitting at 14.9 C | 58.82 F. Highway 522 was very quiet over the weekend. I suspect it will pick up a wee bit today. There are still a lot of folks enjoying the parks that are around us. One would be Grundy Park. Nice park too.

On another note I have been able to move around more these days which is sure nice. Still not up to par yet in that department. I did have a set back with another issue where I was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. I got back home yesterday. It’s been one heck of a summer let me tell you … at least health wise. But I keep trudging along making the best of each day. Hard to keep an old feller down. Ha ha.

Today I am going to do some work in my woodworking shop cleaning it a bit. I will see how that goes.

With that I am off for some breakfast that my lovely wife is making for me. I am sure lucky to have a woman that looks after me.

Good Morning!

There isn’t that much taking place here in Port Loring these days. Most of our tourists have left us for another year and some that lives here are preparing to head south for winter. For us I suspect we will be staying at home with the way things are going health wise. Highway 522 is fairly busy but most of the traffic is locals and lots of trucks working on projects that are taking place in our area. New homes being built and roads being put in. The temperature waking up was sitting at 16.4 C | 61.52 F. It will warm up a lot as they day moves forward. Enjoy it while you can.

On another note my wife and I did manage to get our boat put away for winter yesterday which makes us happy as it is another project out of the way. We now are going to start in on cleaning up our veggie garden getting it ready for winter. I am not sure if I will get it rototiller it up, we will see how I am feeling. If issues I will see if my son can do it when he comes up for Thanksgiving. We did have a fair crop of pumpkins this year which makes my lovely wife happy as she likes them for decoration. Along with some corn stalks.

With that I am off for a bowl of cereal and will then see what the day has in store. You never know.

It’s a cloudy morning here in Port Loring. There is also some fog in certain areas. The temperature getting out of bed was sitting at 15.6 C | 60.08 F. It will warm up quite a bit as the day moves forward. Highway 522 was a bit busy yesterday. Now the kids are back in school, there is a different kind of humans that comes into our area. Which are the ones that doesn’t have kids. The hunters will also begin to filter in come October. Fishing I am told has been pretty good this year with most folks catching their limit. It’s nice to hear that folks are out doing what they enjoy. I am hoping I am able to get out next year.

On another note my wife and I are going to see if we can cover our boat today, and put it to bed for winter. We will see how that goes. As now we have it under our lean-to by my woodworking shop, but through the winter months we like to put our car there, which keeps the snow and ice off of it.

With that I am off for some cereal and a piece of toast that my lovely wife is making for me, and we will then see how things go. Stay safe. GW

Good Morning!

It looks like another nice day here in Port Loring. Looking out there isn’t a cloud in the sky. Once again the temperature was cool last night which made it nice for sleeping. Waking up it was sitting at … 9.3 C | 48.74 F. It will warm up a lot as the day moves forward. We should haven a nice weekend too. Highway 522 is slowing down more as each day passes us by. Nice to see in one way and not so nice in another way. The reason being winter is slowly entering into the picture.

Yesterday we had to go to town to pick up a few things and while driving along we noticed how a lot of the trees are starting to turn. Once they start it doesn’t take long for them to paint our area with all kinds of color’s. Nice to see for sure. It was a nice drive into town. We also noticed the price of gas has dropped a bit which made it nice.. It could go lower though. They raise the price out of sight then they drop it back down to where it is still high, but everyone is happy. Amazing really.

With that I am off for some breakfast and will then see what the day has in store. Going to try and move around a bit more today. Stay safe. GW
