What’s Happening In Port Loring On Sept 10/2022

Good Morning!

There isn’t that much taking place here in Port Loring these days. Most of our tourists have left us for another year and some that lives here are preparing to head south for winter. For us I suspect we will be staying at home with the way things are going health wise. Highway 522 is fairly busy but most of the traffic is locals and lots of trucks working on projects that are taking place in our area. New homes being built and roads being put in. The temperature waking up was sitting at 16.4 C | 61.52 F. It will warm up a lot as they day moves forward. Enjoy it while you can.

On another note my wife and I did manage to get our boat put away for winter yesterday which makes us happy as it is another project out of the way. We now are going to start in on cleaning up our veggie garden getting it ready for winter. I am not sure if I will get it rototiller it up, we will see how I am feeling. If issues I will see if my son can do it when he comes up for Thanksgiving. We did have a fair crop of pumpkins this year which makes my lovely wife happy as she likes them for decoration. Along with some corn stalks.

With that I am off for a bowl of cereal and will then see what the day has in store. You never know.

What’s Happening In Port Loring, Ontario Canada on Sept 9/2022

Good Morning!

It’s a cloudy morning here in Port Loring. There is also some fog in certain areas. The temperature getting out of bed was sitting at 15.6 C | 60.08 F. It will warm up quite a bit as the day moves forward. Highway 522 was a bit busy yesterday. Now the kids are back in school, there is a different kind of humans that comes into our area. Which are the ones that doesn’t have kids. The hunters will also begin to filter in come October. Fishing I am told has been pretty good this year with most folks catching their limit. It’s nice to hear that folks are out doing what they enjoy. I am hoping I am able to get out next year.

On another note my wife and I are going to see if we can cover our boat today, and put it to bed for winter. We will see how that goes. As now we have it under our lean-to by my woodworking shop, but through the winter months we like to put our car there, which keeps the snow and ice off of it.

With that I am off for some cereal and a piece of toast that my lovely wife is making for me, and we will then see how things go. Stay safe. GW

What’s Happening In Port Loring, Ontario Canada on Sept 8/2022

Good Morning!

It looks like another nice day here in Port Loring. Looking out there isn’t a cloud in the sky. Once again the temperature was cool last night which made it nice for sleeping. Waking up it was sitting at … 9.3 C | 48.74 F. It will warm up a lot as the day moves forward. We should haven a nice weekend too. Highway 522 is slowing down more as each day passes us by. Nice to see in one way and not so nice in another way. The reason being winter is slowly entering into the picture.

Yesterday we had to go to town to pick up a few things and while driving along we noticed how a lot of the trees are starting to turn. Once they start it doesn’t take long for them to paint our area with all kinds of color’s. Nice to see for sure. It was a nice drive into town. We also noticed the price of gas has dropped a bit which made it nice.. It could go lower though. They raise the price out of sight then they drop it back down to where it is still high, but everyone is happy. Amazing really.

With that I am off for some breakfast and will then see what the day has in store. Going to try and move around a bit more today. Stay safe. GW

What’s Happening In Port Loring, Ontario Canada on Sept 7/2022

Good Morning!

It looks as if we are in for another nice day here in Port Loring. The sun is shinning without a cloud in the sky. However it is cool with the temperature waking up sitting at 8.1 C | 46.58 F. It will warm up considerably as the day moves forward. Actually the warm temperatures will remain with us for the next week or so. This is my favorite time of year. Not to hot, not to cold, no bugs to speak of, and if your up to it, the fishing is usually pretty good. The cooler weather makes them hungry.

Highway 522 has slowed down a lot but there is a few campers moving through our area. Most are taking advantage of our Parks. They have been booked solid all year, or so I been told. It is good though to see people out enjoying life. This virus has taken a toll on a lot of us.

Yesterday i did manage to get out to my woodworking shop for a half hour or so. Cleaned things up a bit and then came in and laid down. Doesn’t take much to tire me these days. But on the good side of the coin I am dealing with the pain and I am starting to move around some.

With that I am off for my breakfast that my lovely wife is making for me and after that I will see. Take care and stay safe. GW

What’s Happening In Port Loring Ontario, Canada on Sept. 6/2022

Good Morning!

It’s another sunny morning here in Port Loring. The sun is slowly coming up in the east which will take us into another nice day. It is cool though waking up, with the temperature sitting at 6.3 C | 43.34 F. It’s the first morning that we had to turn on our oil furnace, as it was a touch cool and damp in the house. It smells a bit though being the first time its been running. But it will burn off and things will get back to normal the more it heats up. Not much a person can do about that. Other than not turn it on. And I don’t care to do that. Ha ha. Highway 522 is slow this morning but I suspect it will pick up as the day moves forward. I see the kids are back in school as the school buses have been going by our home.

On another note I am thinking I might try and put my boat away for this year in a day or so. With my wife’s help. Once again we didn’t get to go fishing this year being that I am not all that well. Maybe next year. We also have to get our veggie gardens cleaned up once the tomatoes have run their course, along with digging our potatoes. We did try a few yesterday for supper. They were a good size and sure tasty. l would think we will get around 50 lbs or so once all said and done. Which should carry us through for most of the winter. My lovely wife made us some potato soup for supper last night. Tasted so good we will finish it up for lunch today.

With that … I am off for a bowl of cereal and will then see what I can do. Lately it’s been a challenge to do anything. Take care and stay safe as with the kids going back to school they will be bringing home all kind of not so good things, spreading it around. To be truthful … wearing a mask is a good thing in part, as it stops all kinds of colds and things. If you look back to when we were all wearing them, you hardly ever heard of anyone catching a cold or the flu. The pharmaceutical companies love it when the masks are removed. Ha ha. Have a great day!
