Not to much to report here today. Did go to town yesterday and browsed around some stores.  Quite busy I find in North Bay these days with cars backed up at every stop light.  Folks are moving around that’s for sure.  Then took my Son Karl out for supper for his birthday at Greco’s Pizza & Pasta • 344 Algonquin Ave, North Bay, Ontario • and have to say it was really enjoyable.  Pizza was great and service was also good. Would recommend it to anyone that would like to grab a bite to eat away from home. Should say prices were quite reasonable too.  Total bill for three meals with drinks was $30.00.  Enjoy your day my friends.

News For Port Loring

It was brought to my attention of what the exact days of Deer Season is here in Port Loring so thought I should clear that up.  Don’t need anyone heading out there on the wrong day.  Not that I think they would without checking but……..just the same.  The exact days in WMU sections 47 & 48 are from November 5th to November 18th.  Looking forward to it myself.  Couple things to remember is to sight in your old rifle  before heading out, along with making sure everything is up to spec.  I was also told by the experts that using two eyes instead of one for a gun with a scope is much better.  I will have to work on that as I for the first time put a scope on my 358 Browning.  Reason being my right eye isn’t as good as it was many years ago.  Should make things interesting I would think.  Also don’t forget to bring along your hunting knife and make sure it is sharp. Nothing worse than dressing a deer with a dull knife.  If hunting in an area you are not sure of might pay to hang a compass on your coat like I do and learn how to use it.  Never know when it might come in handy. If you got it you probably will never need it, if you don’t……well, I think you get my meaning.  Also don’t forget the colors when out there and keep a sharp eye out for your friends and others while hunting.  Make sure you know what your shooting at in other words.  Also keep them rifles pointed in directions away from yourself and your hunting buddies and never, I mean never, lean your gun up against a fence while crossing. Lost a good friend of mine doing just that.  Enjoy the couple weeks my friends, do things right which I am sure you will and everyone including yourself, will have a great few days hunting.

Drained the bottom end yesterday, so now will put the batteries where its warm and cover it up for its long snooze.  Sure going to be missed let me tell ya.  But time moves on and won’t be long before the warm southern breezes is upon us once again.  Enjoy your day my friends and if possible find a nice spot out of the cool breeze and soak up some of that sunshine, It’s all you need to ward off any of them cold and flu bugs that might be lurking around town.  Do that, eat right and no flu shot needed.  Along with your body thanking you for it.

News For Port Loring

Not to much to report around town, things real quite quiet actually. The weather hasn’t been the greatest lately neither, that doesn’t help ones getting out.  For myself I am slowly getting things done around the house here. Still got to till my garden and plant my garlic. Old back is playing games with me though with the wet cold damp weather.  But this to shall pass. I will say this though; the wood heat sure is pleasant for aches and pains as being so dry.  Not complaining mind ya, still can’t wait to get out of bed each morning.  Also ordered another four cords of firewood. I have around 16 cords of nice dry stuff piled high in the basement, but something is telling me we might just get a longer winter this year.  The more I study nature the more she is telling me that maybe a touch more snow and some colder weather is heading our way.  One item my old grandfather told me years ago is that if the cedars loose more leaves than usual it’s a good sign of lots of snow and ours here around the house have lost over half.  Reason being the leaves would hold the snow and break their branches. Less weight lest damage.  Makes sense to me and pretty smart on their part.  Time will tell.  Well have a great day my friends, turmeric tea time here and see what the day has to offer.

News For Port Loring

Not much to report here this morning.  Great looking day ahead and for the rest of the week though, so that is something I would think.  Figuring I would take a couple days and do some fishing this week as time is moving on.  Can’t believe how fast the summer passed us by.  Amazing really.  So much one wants to do and so short of time to do it all it seems.  We will be having an Election Meeting at the Local Service Board this coming Thursday. If you feel like putting your name on the list just show up at the meeting.   Enjoy your day my friends

News For Port Loring

Nothing much happening around town, kind of quiet.  Folks are winding down after the summer.  I would have to say most business’s this summer are down some from last year.  What will next year bring? Anyones guess, I suspect a retake of this year for most.  On the bright side, remember this. We live in the nicest part of Ontario, fresh air, fishing at its best, good soil to grow ones crops and sunshine in abundance.  What more could one ask for.  That is…if one takes the initiative to eat well and look after themselves.  Enjoy your day my friends.  For myself, got fishing on my mind, lots of nice weather yet to come, so don’t be putting that old boat of yours away for winter just yet.
