Morning Report Aug 9/2020

Good Morning! Cloudy morning with some light rain for us here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. There is a Heat Warning in effect until 9:15 PM. I wouldn’t think it will be that bad with the clouds and rain in our area. A touch muggy maybe. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 19.3 C | 66.74 F at the time of this post, which is quite nice … actually. Highway 522 is very busy these days with folks coming in from all over. More care will have to be taken and even more when the kids go back to school, as when that happens I am thinking things will get a lot … worse. Today I will be working away in our cottage to be. It’s starting to take shape now. It’s amazing how doing a bit at a time gets things done. With that, I am off for a bite to eat and will then get to work. Have a great day, stay safe … and stay away from congregations of any kind.

Morning Report Aug 8/2020

Good Morning! Another great looking day is shaping up for us here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is shining once again, the sun is shinning and the winds are light, coming in from the south south-west. What could be better than that? Temperatures waking up were sitting at 15.7 C | 60.26 F. It will get much warmer as the day progresses. Later on next week things could get quite hot once again for a few days. But it is summer, and we did have a long winter. Highway 522 is really busy these days with folks coming in from all over. The one thing that bothered me a wee bit on the way to town the other day, was all the garbage that the tourists are throwing out their car windows. One car directly in front of us threw out two Tim Horton Cups right in the middle of the road. “It’s bad for the environment, it’s bad for wildlife and it sure isn’t nice to look at.” What it does do though … is it shows the mentality of some people. I can’t understand people like that. I should also say here I am not blaming Tim Hortons, it’s the people that are the problem. On another note being such a nice day, I will be working away on our cottage to-be … finishing up the trim work, which will take most of the day. Later on I figure a cool drink on our front porch with my lovely wife will be in order. We did manage to get all our mowing done yesterday, and things are looking nice around our home here. It’s a great piece of property, looks like a park. With that I am off for a bite to eat, and will let the day unfold around me. Take care, stay safe … and do what’s right!

Morning Report Aug 7/2020

Good Morning! It’s looking like another great day for us here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is shinning without a cloud in the sky. Temperatures are about perfect sitting at 14.2 C | 57.56 F. It will warm up as the day progresses. Highway 522 is slowing down a wee bit but it is early. Here again things will pick up as the day progresses. Yesterday my wife and I took a trip to town to pick up some groceries we ordered along with a few other things. Seen our son in his apartments parking lot from a distance, had lunch in our car with a nice cup of coffee my lovely wife made for us and came back home. Great day all way round. The trip in and back was nice too. Good to get away now and then. Lots to see this time of year which makes it even nicer. Today we will be doing some mowing around the house here and then this afternoon we will set back and admire it and relax for a bit. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and will then get the mowers running. Sometimes that is a challenge in itself. LOL Take care, stay safe and do what’s right with this virus that is going around. GW

Good Morning! Today here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada will be really nice weather wise. The sun is shinning and not to hot, with temperatures at the moment sitting at 12.7 C | 54.86 F. It will warm up some as the day progresses. It’s a day that you can do just about anything outside. My kind of weather. Highway 522 is busy which is a norm for this time of year. Yesterday I worked most of the day on our cottage to be, and got a lot done. Today will be much the same. With that not much more to say here this morning. I am off for my morning cup of tea with my lovely wife on the front porch, and will let the day do as it wants. Not that I have much choice in the matter. Morning report Aug 5/2020

Good Morning! Looking outside it looks like it is going to be a great day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is shinning and not to hot. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 14.1 C | 57.38 F. It will warm up as the day progresses … and taking a look at the long range forecast, I am thinking we will be having the best of the best for the next two weeks. Hardly no bugs to speak off, lots of sunshine and not overly hot. Can’t beat that. Front porch sittin’ time is upon us here in the north. Truth be told, that is what every one should be doing, not running around all over the place. But hey! That’s me. Yesterday I did manage to get things all ready to do some more work in the new cottage to be. Cleaned up my shop which was one heck of a mess, and now that the ceiling is in I can get busy and do some trim work. Lots to do … but when all said and done it will be a great looking cottage. Highway 522 is busy as usual and lots of folks moving into our area buying up everything in sight. Myself I would think hanging onto your property would be the best thing to do at the moment, as this time next year property will be worth twice as much as it is today. But in saying that, prices of properties have risen a lot this year in our area. Why is that? Well … folks are finally finding out that being in places that there are a lot of people, isn’t a good thing, especially with this virus going around. You could say it is a wake-up call of what is truly important in life. So with that information under your hat, if you wear a hat … I am off for my morning cup of Dandelion Tea on the front porch with my lovely wife. The body likes it once in a while. Take care, stay safe, and do what’s right.

Morning Report August 4/2020

Good Morning!. Hope you are all well this morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. Elsewhere, too of course. Looking outside the skies are cloudy, and we could see some showers throughout the day. Temperatures are a bit cool this morning sitting at 15.8 C | 60.44 F. It won’t warm up much more. Highway 522 is quite busy this morning with lots of folks out about. On another note I have never seen so many homes being sold and bought up by outsiders within the past 15 years. Also, a lot of repairs being done to some older homes. Trailers are everywhere by the hundreds parked in driveways, by homes, in the bush, you name it … all trying to get out of the cities away from the virus. And I can’t say I blame them one bit. And … as long as they take the precautions necessary, I am good with that too. Some aren’t though which makes it a bit scary. Today I will be working in the new to be cottage. It’s going to be a real nice cottage once all said and done with all new features and furniture in the inside. Once I get finished with my part which will take me a couple of weeks my wife will then do her part with the things we ordered online. The good thing about ordering online with certain things is a person doesn’t have to go into the stores which is what I like. So with that … I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife and will then see about doing some work. Take care, stay safe and do what’s right.

Morning Report August 3/2020

Good Morning!. It’s a cloudy morning waking up here in Port Loring Ontario, Canada. Temperatures were sitting at 12.3 C | 54.14 F. It won’t get to much warmer than that today. Which will be kind of nice for a change. We should see a wee bit of sunshine later on this morning with some more rain moving into our area late in the day and through tonight. Highway 522 is really busy these days with folks moving around. It wouldn’t be a bad thing if folks did what they should be doing, like wearing a mask, social distancing and especially not getting together in groups. I feel that these folks that are going to church, movies, parties, restaurants and places like that, are the ones that will make things a lot worse. I can’t for the life of me see … why these folks think, that just because the Powers That Be say these places are open, figure they are safe to go into. As they aren’t, and they are and will be the ones that spread it to others, more so than it is spreading now. It only takes one person to start the ball rolling. Damn shame too. The next thing that is going to make things even worse, is the opening of our schools. Them little guys will spread this around like wildfire. Not their fault mind ya, as they are being told what to do by us older folks that should have enough sense to see this, but unfortunately for some reason they don’t. Makes me shake my head. Anyways … that is my rant for this morning. Have a great day and in spite of what some are doing … I hope you … do right. Stay safe. GW

Good Morning! Well it’s not going to be the greatest day weather wise. There are storm warnings up for our area. It is quite dark already but it is early. Today I have some outside work to do but not sure how long I will be able to be out there. But I also got some inside work to do too so not without anything to keep my busy. Highway 522 is really busy these days with folks moving around and coming in from all over. On another note I did manage to get my veggie garden all opened up yesterday, so the sunshine can get at things. That should help with the ripening of things. Lots of cucumber and zucchini at the moment. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and will then see what develops weather wise. Morning Report July 31/2020

Good Morning! Looking out, things seem to be shaping up for another nice day for us here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is shinning and temperatures aren’t to warm, sitting at 14.6 C | 58.28 F. It will warm up though as the day moves forward. The long range forecast is looking good too for the remainder of the summer. Highway 522 is busy as usual with a lot of trucks moving both ways. Lots of construction going on all over. But this is the time of year to get these things done and out of the way as it is a long winter. Man it’s hard to even think about winter. It’s even harder to think that this is the last day of July. On another note my wife and I did manage to get the ceiling put up yesterday in our Cottage to be. Took us two days but it’s done. Happy about that. Now it is just trim work, painting and then designing it up for the bedroom, kitchen and living room. Lots to do but we are enjoying doing it. The good thing is there is no rush. Today we will be doing our mowing as the grass is growing fast these days. That rain we had yesterday sure got it going. It is quite wet though, so it would be nice if it dries out beforehand. Not likely LOL. With that I am off to the front porch with my lovely wife for our morning cup of coffee, and take in some of this fresh northern air. Take care, stay safe and do what’s right. GW

Good Morning! We do have a few clouds blocking our sun this morning. But we will have some sunshine as the day moves forward. We could also see a shower or two. But I don’t suspect it will amount to anything. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 15.4 C | 59.72 F. It will warm up a lot a bit later on. Highway 522 is busy these days with folks coming into our area. Not sure where they are all going being that we only have two Hardware Stores. Oh, I forgot we also have a LCBO, I suspect that is where most are going too. Can’t say I blame them. On another note my wife and I put in a full day installing the ceiling in the cottage to be yesterday. We got it half done. So hoping today we will put that behind us. Not an easy job, for two old timers holding 4×8 sheets of plywood over our head. But things worked out. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee on the front porch with my lovely wife, and then will see what mischief I can get myself into. Take care and stay safe!

Morning Report July 29/2020

Good Morning! So how you all doing this morning? Good I hope. Ruth and I are good here so far. Taking precautions when necessary and staying home. Actually not much has changed in the way of doing things. Other than wearing a mask when out, washing things down after buying something and distancing from folks, which is hard when some don’t give a dam. Temperatures have cooled down some which is nice. Makes things better for working outside. A little cooler would be nice as then we could open all our windows in the house. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 19.4 C | 66.92 F. It will warm up later on in the day with a slight chance of a shower a bit later this morning. On another note I did put in a full day yesterday working in our new to be cottage. Sometimes you get into one thing, and others start to pop up and you figure well might as well do that too. LOL But we are in no hurry. Got all summer and winter if necessary to make things nice. The grass now is growing once again, so more mowing will be needed in the coming days. Veggie gardens are producing well, and we now are eating some really nice Red Potatoes and lots of cucumbers, lettuce and onions. Won’t be long, and we will be having Tomato sandwiches. I’d say about two weeks for them to get to where they are sweet and tasty. With that I am off to the front porch for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife. Take care, stay safe and do what’s right. I know … I keep on saying that, but truth be told there are a lot out there that don’t seem to give a dam … for themselves or others. LOL Have a great day….

Good Morning! Things are looking pretty darn nice here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada weather wise this morning. The sun is upon us without a cloud in the sky. I can’t rightly say that I have seen it so clear as it is this morning. The other good news is that the humidity has left us and temperatures have cooled down. Waking up they were sitting at 19.1 C | 66.38 F. Pretty hard to beat that. Highway 522 is very busy these days which is a norm for this time of year. Yesterday we worked in our cottage most of the day, but then it got so hot in the afternoon I decided to call it a day. Can’t seem to do the work I used to when I was twenty or so. I guess I am getting a wee bit old. My mind says go but my body says no, Whole up there a minute> LOL. Today I will be a bit of a challenge as we have to put the ceiling in, so lifting them 4×8 sheets of plywood up over our heads won’t be the nicest. But I have a plan LOL. Morning Report July 27/2020

Good Morning!. It’s a cloudy morning for us here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. We are also having some light showers. Yesterday was sure a hot one, more so with the Humidity. Which will be with us for most of today. Temperatures waking up were quite warm sitting at 22.3 C | 72.14 F. Tomorrow things should cool down somewhat with a wee bit of sunshine. Highway 522 was quite busy yesterday and I suspect it will be even busier nearing the end of this week. Knowing that, more care should be taken if out and about. Yesterday my wife and I did get a lot of work done inside our store that we are converting into a cottage. Today we will continue on. I have to say though yesterday being so hot wasn’t the nicest for working. Hoping today will be a bit better. On another note our vegetable gardens are growing really good. I might have to remove some Foliage on our Tomatoes, as things are getting a bit crowded. If that continues all we will have is leaves LOL Always something. But I do enjoy working in the gardens. So with that I am off for my morning cup of coffee, but we will have to give up our front porch this morning being that it is raining outside. Dam. Morning Report Jan 26/2020

Good Morning!. Starting things off the weather outside is not too bad. The sun is shinning once again with just a few clouds helping out with the heat. There is a lot of humidity in the air this morning which could bring a thunderstorm to our area later on in the day, tonight and into tomorrow. So if there is something that needs to be done best do it early in the day. Being Sunday Highway 522 is quiet this morning but I suspect it will pick up as the day moves forward. At this point in time with so many people working from home and on vacation Sunday means nothing in the way of slowing them down. Can’t say I blame them as it is in reality, just another day. On another note my wife and I did get some new roof vent installed in our new cottage we are working on. Today we will continue working away. I have to admit it is nice working outdoors for a change. Time is sure flying by though as August is almost upon us. Once into September the cool weather slowly starts to return. Good in some ways but not so good in other ways. I have a feeling this virus will get even worse once the cold weather makes it’s return, especially with opening back up the stores, churches, bars, restaurants and things. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife and will then let the day unfold around me. Take care stay safe and do what’s right. More so look after yourselves.

Morning Report July 25/2020

Good Morning!. It is looking like another really nice day for us here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is shinning without hardly a cloud in the sky. Temperatures are sitting at 18.4 C | 65.12 F. This is the weather I enjoy. Highway 522 is busy these days, which is becoming a norm. It will likely remain this way for the remainder of the summer. I also see and hear that thousands of people are selling their homes in and around the large cities and moving to the country. I suspect it is the fear that this virus has more of a chance to get to them. I can’t say I blame them. Actually I think they are smart. Prices of homes say in our area and surrounding areas have always been on the low side, but now they are rising fast and I think they will continue to rise in price as time moves forward. I also think that people now are finding out that city life isn’t the place to be. Where there isn’t as many people is the place to be. On another note my veggie gardens are growing leaps and bounds and my wife is getting ready to do up some relish and sweet pickles for winter. Should be tasty. While she is doing that, I am going to be working in our store, as we are re-modifying it from a store to a cottage. We will still have a store, but in a different location on our property. But not this year, as we are keeping it closed. We might be closed to people coming in to see the store right now, but my wife is taking orders for signs and her paintings. Actually she has been quite busy this year with folks wanting her paintings and things. Nice to see. Also it is nice to see … that a few here in town are supporting us with our store being closed. Means a lot and helps a lot. The reason we are keeping the store itself closed is that it is small and there is no way we can do social distancing properly. Also we sell a lot of flutes and they need to be played and right now I don’t want anyone blowing into them. Not a good idea. But in saying that I still sell them out of the house but you can’t play them until you own them. I should also mention that if you want a flute, custom sign or a painting you can get in touch with us at [email protected] Or if in the area drop by and we can chat from a distance LOL. Good Morning!. Things looks like it is shaping up for a really nice day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is showing off with only a few clouds in the sky. LOL Today my lovely wife and I will do a bit of mowing around the house here, and then take things a bit easy this afternoon. Yesterday we went to town to pick up our groceries which we enjoy. Gets us out of the house for a day. We did notice that a lot of folks this time going in and out of stores were wearing masks. Which is a good thing. They weren’t doing as much social distancing as they used to be doing though, which isn’t a bad thing. So hoping they come to their senses in the near future. We then picked up our groceries, visited our son in the parking lot for a bit, picked up our computer that our son fixed, ate our lunch in our car while chatting on the phone to our other son, and came on home. Great day. With that, I am off to the front porch for my morning cup of coffee and take in what Nature has to offer. Great time to be outside, weather is good and no bugs. Good Morning! It’s a cloudy morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The clouds will remain with us for most of the day with some showers or a thunderstorm thrown in for good measure. Temperatures have cooled down a lot which makes things a lot nicer. Waking up they were sitting at 17.1 C | 62.78 F. Things will warm up a wee bit as the day moves forward. Highway 522 was busy once again yesterday, with campers and you name it moving in and around our area. As I have been saying, if people keep doing what they are doing, by not wearing a mask, going to parties, not social distancing and things like that, it is going to get a lot worse. It’s already started. I am not sure what these people are thinking, other than they think they are invincible. Trouble arises though when these people think this way, as they might not get it to where they are really sick, but they give it to others. What we need now is using common sense, but it seems to me a lot are lacking it. We need to hang in there for just a little longer, as we are so close to getting some help. Anyways … that is my rant for this morning LOL. Today I will do some inside work as it looks like rain. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife. Not to hot, some sun and a few clouds with temperatures at the point you can open all your windows and let in some fresh air. And on top of that, hardly any of them blood sucking parasites to annoy ya. Highway 522 is quiet this morning, but it is early. Yesterday the highway was really busy with trucks, cars, campers, pick ups with ATV’s, and boats on the back, along with some that I have to scratch my head figuring out. Motorcycles galore, with even lawnmowers running up and down the highway. I even seen one riding lawn mower with a case of beer on the hood. Only in Port Loring. LOL Today I will do a bit of work in my shop, then finish up another Podcast I started yesterday. Oh and of course some front porch sittin’ is in order too. Too nice outside to be inside. Morning Report July 20/2020

Good Morning! Weather wise things are looking pretty good for the next few days. Waking up it isn’t as warm and the sun is showing off. The winds are light and I suspect it will be a really nice day. We could possibly see a passing shower here or there, but nothing like what we had yesterday. The wind and heavy rain yesterday sure played havoc with my vegetable garden, knocking down my corn and tomatoes. I will see if I can ease them back into place in a bit. I would have to say yesterdays storm was about the worst I seen it here in the past fifteen years. It kind of makes me think our planet is changing. Highway 522 was very busy yesterday and I am sure it will be quite busy today too. But the good news is, with this rain we just had, things are sure looking healthy and green. Today I will be working on another Podcast for Friday, along with some front porch sitting with my lovely wife. We have to take advantage of these nice days when we can sit outside, as summer is moving along. So with that … I am off for my morning cup of coffee. Take care, stay safe and do what’s right.

My old weather stick says that Fishing will be pretty good later on today. I give it a 4 Star Rating out of 5 for catching a few. There should be no reason why you don’t have fish for supper tonight. . Stay safe and good Luck!!

Morning Report July 19/2020

Good Morning! It’s a cloudy, humid day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. We did have some rain through the night, and it will continue off and on for most of the day. We could have some severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 22.9 C | 73.22 F. So with that in mind, my wife and I will be doing some inside work. Which is okay with us, as we both have lots of things on the go. Highway 522 is slow this morning, but it is early and Sunday. Yesterday there was non stop traffic. I am not sure where they are all going, but one thing is for certain, they are out and about. Is it a good thing? Time will tell. Other than that, not much more to tell here this morning, so will head on off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife. Take care, stay safe and do what’s right. GW
