Good Morning Port Loring

We all woke up to sunshine this morning here in Port Loring. Should be no complaints weather wise. Temperatures were sitting at 14C/56F. It will warm up as the day progresses. Black Flies are almost all gone, but there is a few around in some areas. Mosquitoes are another story, as them blood sucking parasites are everywhere at the moment. The horse and deer flies are also bothering a person too. But hey! It’s summer and as bad as they are it is still a lot better than all that snow and cold weather we have had. On another note I would like thank Janet and Frank for dropping by on Sunday. I hope you enjoy your sign you ordered and your new Flute. You asked what you should do to the sign? Nothing just leave it the way it is and it will last for years. The Flute as good as it is now, will only get better as time goes by. Why? Because it is made out of air dried wood and as it ages things start to sound nicer. It’s kind of like a fine wine. The longer it ages the nicer it gets. That’s true too. With that I am off to my shop I have some orders to get ready. After that it is Front Porch Sittin’ time. Rough life huh! GW

What could be better?

Good Morning

A great looking day out there starting things off. Sun is shining and a light breeze coming in from the East. Not as hot. Temperatures will rise a wee bit, but we should see sunshine all day. Getting out of bed temperatures were sitting at 13.8 C | 56.84 F. Black Flies are gone for most areas and Mosquitoes are slowing down with this heat we been having. So all in all a great weekend. About time too. On another note I would like to thank Judy, Sandra, Jackie and Julian for dropping by our store yesterday. I hope you girls all enjoy your Flutes. As I say to everyone that buys one … if you have any issues at all, feel free to drop by or Email me and I will be more than happy to help you. In reality there should be no problems. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and will let the day unfold around me. A great day for some front porch Sittin’ and remember. The great pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do. GW

What life is all about.

Good Morning Port Loring

Sunny day waking up. Temperatures aren’t as warm as it was yesterday, which is fine by me. At the time of this post it was sitting at 20.9 C | 69.62 F. It will climb a wee bit as the day progresses. We do have a light breeze coming in from the North East. Other than a few horse flies and deer flies things are pretty good in the bug section of things. I don’t see much rain for the next five days, so I guess I will have to do some watering myself in the vegetable gardens. Tomatoes are coming along but will be a couple weeks late compared to last year. Everything else though is about the same. I did dig some garlic yesterday for a taste. It tasted great but it isn’t quite ready to dig and dry for winter yet. With that I am off to my shop to work on a few orders. GW

Now you know the rest of the story.

Good Morning Port Loring

Another hot one is in store for us today. The sun was with us waking up and will continue for most of the day … and will stay with us all week. The hot weather should ease off after today a wee bit. Which will make things nice for all those vacationers. Temperatures were nice through the night but are rising as I type. At the moment they are sitting at 22.8 C | 73.04 F. Might pay to take it a bit easy today. At least that is what I intend to do. I do have some work to do for a few magazines I write for so will probably work on them. Even with the heat I am happy to say our small gift shop has been quite busy. It was hard there for a while keeping up with our orders. Not complaining mind ya. My Flutes and our books are in demand as well. On another note the black flies are pretty much gone and the mosquitoes are easing off. The horse flies are another story as they love the heat and when they find you it’s hard to get away from them. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and bug my lovely wife for a bit. GW

And she makes great coffee too.

George Walters Blog Update.

Well a boiling day here today. Temperatures are sitting at 31.9 C | 89.42 F. Nothing but sunshine. In spite of the hot temperatures I did manage to get my lawn mowed. I started early so by the time it got too warm I was in the shower. The rest of the afternoon I just took it easy. Inside the house with the blinds down it is nice. Tomorrow supposed to be even hotter, so I am thinking I am not going to be doing too much other than maybe write up a story or two for the Newspaper. I had to water the vegetable garden today as some plants were asking for a drink. I just can’t walk by them seeing the leaves drooping. Kind of make me feel sorry for them, even though I am going to eat them. LOL. With that I am off for a cool one and will finish up the day … doing nothing. Stay cool!

About right.

Good Morning

Well another beautiful morning here in Port Loring Ontario. Sun is shinning, and we have a light breeze coming in from the South East. Temperatures were sitting at 15.6 C | 60.08 F. It will warm up considerably though, with temperatures reaching into the mid 30s C or around 86 F. It will get even warmer for tomorrow, so I would think if you have any work that might need a lot of energy it would pay to get it done this morning. Only a suggestion mind ya. Vegetable garden is still growing leaps and bounds. My lovely wife and I are eating strawberries and fresh lettuce salads, of every kind daily. Sure is nice. This morning I will be working on a trailer I built years ago … it is in need for some restoration. Seems a lot of things that get older need some attention … including us humans. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and will see what mischief I can get into. At least that is what my wife says. GW

About right. Hmm!

Good Morning Port Loring

Well rain was in the forecast for today but so far it’s been quite nice with sunshine waking me up. Temperatures were sitting at 18.1 C | 64.58 F. There is a chance of some showers later on and into tomorrow. So far we couldn’t have asked for a better long weekend. Even the mosquitoes are easing off with the black flies almost gone. Yesterday we had a really busy day at our store which kept my lovely wife and I hopping. Sold a few flutes and some paintings that my wife done up through winter. We also took a couple more sign orders so that will keep me busy cutting them out for the wife to paint. The vegetable garden is growing leaps and bounds with fresh lettuce salads on the table every day. Nothing like fresh produce. We also have had our first strawberries of the year. I don’t have a large patch, but we do get a quart daily. Amazing how sweet they are this year. They sure are tasty too. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and will see what develops as the day progresses. GW

Not a large patch but enough for two. Tasty

Good Morning Port Loring

Really nice looking day waking up. Sun is shinning, a few clouds and a light breeze. Temperatures were sitting at 13.8 C | 56.84 F. What could be better? Black Flies are all but gone, mosquitoes are still with us and will stay with us for most the summer, especially this year with all the rainy cool weather. This morning I have some more shop work to do on orders. Then in the afternoon I will enjoy my front porch with my lovely wife. On another note I would like to thank Nancy and John for dropping by yesterday with their friends. I hope you enjoy your new Flute and remember, if you need any advice relating to how to play it let me know. You have my E-mail. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and will see what mischief I can get into.

About right these days.

Good Morning

Another cloudy morning here in Port Loring Ontario. Temperatures were sitting at 17.4 C | 63.32 F. We should see some sunshine as the day progresses and into tomorrow. We could have some rain again on Monday.. Black Flies are still with us a wee bit but for most parts they have left. Mosquitoes though are another story. Hard to get away from them blood sucking parasites. Today I will be working in the woodworking shop as orders are backing up a touch. Not complaining mind ya. Lots of folks have dropped by our gift shop since we opened last week. Great to see folks after the long winter. I would also like to thank the van load of girls that dropped by from Toronto last weekend. I hope you all enjoy our books, my wife’s paintings and the Flutes. If you are in need of any information regarding my Flutes or anything else, you all have my E-Mail. Thanks again for the great day. With that I am off for my morning coffee and will let the day unfold around me. GW

About right these days.

Good Morning Port Loring

Cloudy morning with temperatures sitting at 17.8 C | 64.04 F. Today it will remain cloudy with some showers. Tonight we could see a thunderstorm. Tomorrow we should be back to sunshine. Black Flies aren’t bad at the moment. Mosquitoes are another story as they are out there in full force with this warm moist weather. Yesterday I got the lawn mowed which made things look much nicer around the house here. I took a few pictures of around the house here and our sign out front. GW

Good Morning Port Loring Ontario

Another great day waking up. Sun is shinning and temperatures were hovering around 16.5 C | 61.7 F. It will warm up considerably later on. Good day to get things done early and do some front porch sitting later on when temperatures climb a bit. Black flies are still out there but not as many as there was. Mosquitoes though are another story. I am afraid we will have to contend with them for a while yet. Today is mowing day for us so heading on outside. With that you have a great day. GW

Good Morning Port Loring

We all woke up to sunshine here in Port Loring Ontario. Temperatures were sitting at 17.4 C | 63.32 F. We could see a shower later on but for the rest of the week it will be sunny and hot. So I guess summer has arrived. About time. With this heat that is approaching it should eliminate the Black Flies and cut back the Mosquitoes. Today I have some shop work to do then might do some front porch sitting. I just never know what is in store for my day as if the urge hits to do something or go somewhere we do it. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and some pancakes and eggs. GW

Looks good and tastes even better.

Good Morning

Cloudy rainy day here starting things off. Temperatures were fair sitting at 16.7 C | 62.06 F. The clouds should ease their selves away and if lucky we might even see some sunshine later on. Tomorrow there is a chance we could see some showers or even a passing thunderstorm but then back to sunshine as the day progresses. Hard to believe but my vegetable garden did need some rain. Overnight it sure perked up and the lettuce is growing quite fast. Growing so fast there is no way we can eat it all LOL. So will give some away if need be. Today I might do some shop work being kind of wet outside. I enjoy being out there now and then. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and will see what the day has in store. GW

Hmm. Maybe I will give that a shot. Interesting.

Good Morning Port Loring Ontario Canada

This morning we all woke up to cloudy skies. We can expect a few showers lingering into tomorrow and Wednesday. But later on Wednesday we should be back to sunshine and warm temperatures. Black Flies are still with us a wee bit with the Mosquitoes making up the difference. All this warmer wet weather isn’t helping things this year. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 16.4 C | 61.52 F. Quite nice actually. On another note the vegetable garden is growing leaps and bounds these days. Been eating salads every day. Sure is tasty too. Our peonies are about to open. We have quite a few of them around our property. The nice thing is these still have a great scent. They smell like roses. Hard to find them nowadays with all the new ones being scent free. We enjoy them for a couple weeks. They don’t last too long though. So with that I am off for my morning coffee. GW

Sure are nice!

Good Morning Port Loring

Well here we go again, another nice day. Sun is shinning, light breeze with warm temperatures. Going to be a nice day all way round. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 15.3 C | 59.54 F. The way I see it we should be in for nice weather all week. We might see a shower on Tuesday. I am pretty sure we won’t have the hot weather we had last year, which is a good thing. The Black flies are slowly leaving us. Yesterday I was able to hoe my garden without too much bother. Nice to be able to get out there and enjoy the day. Today I am going to take it a wee bit easy. I might if the urge hits me put some grass cuttings that has been resting around my tomato plants. They sure like that. It gets them growing faster and also creates a nice taste in the tomatoes once ripe. Can’t be beat. Sure looks pretty out there with all the flowers coming on. This is what the north is all about. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and a couple pancakes. Heck of a life huh? GW

If you want a great garden you better buy a hoe.

Good Morning Port Loring

Another really nice day waking up. Sun is shinning with a light breeze. Other than the Black Flies and Mosquitoes it is a fine day. Yesterday my wife and I took a drive to town. Roads were good other than a few pot holes one has to keep an eye open for. In town, it was quite busy as it always is and stores seem to be making ends meat, so to speak. We got our groceries and other things that we will need around the house here and then had lunch and headed on home. Great day but a busy day with so much running around to do. We also got our mowing all done up so the place is looking nice. Vegetable garden is coming along, and we can now start to eat the lettuce as it is ready to go. Will give that a try tonight with our supper. Great to have fresh veggies every day right from the garden. The nice thing is you know what is on it and in it. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and then will get my hoe out and work in some weeds around my plants. Then will put down some grass cuttings around each of my tomatoes plants as they sure like that. Great to be outside enjoying the fresh air. Hoping the bugs aren’t too bad. GW

No use wasting time while your waiting.

Good Morning

Another really nice day shaping up for us here in Port Loring Ontario Canada. All I can say is. “It’s about time.” The Black Flies and Mosquitoes are still annoying but the Black Flies are slowly leaving us. Yesterday while mowing the Dragon Flies were out in numbers. I made them I deal. I will stir the Black Flies up and you, Dragon Flies eat them. They liked the idea and were swarming around my head making a meal out of them. Great to see them here again. Last year there weren’t very many, but this year they are in abundance. If there was one insect that we should protect, it would be them. They eat more mosquitoes and black flies than any other thing on earth. And they don’t hurt humans. They actually like us and in some cases will even land on your hand or shoulder for a visit. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 13.6 C | 56.48 F and will warm up even further as the day progresses. Going to be great day. With that I am off for my morning coffee and will see what the day has in store for my lovely wife and I. GW

They are the good guys!
