Good Morning. Once again we are having another great day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. There should be no complaints about the weather, at least where I live. Also, a lot of the humidity has left us this morning, which makes it just that much better. Highway 522 is slow this morning, but it is early. Things will pick up, I am sure, later on. The campgrounds are full this year with people coming in from all over. I can’t say I blame them. Actually, they were full before they opened the borders with our own people. Kind of interesting. This is my favourite time of the year. Hardly no bugs to speak of and the weather is usually really nice. And to top that all off … the fishing will start to improve every day now right up until the end of September. I am trying to find time to get my boat cleaned up and running. With all my lovely wife and I have been doing around and in our home, we haven’t found the time. I will see how that goes in the coming days. I haven’t put the boat in the water for almost two years because of this virus. But with the vaccines and the knowledge we now know, I am thinking it should be okay. I will think on it, LOL. Yesterday I worked on my back deck, and today I am hoping I will be able to get the boards all laid down. After that, I will let it climatize a wee bit, and then stain it the colour of our cottage deck I just built. I bought extra at the time because it was on sale. With that I am off for some homemade cranberry pancakes my wife is making me and will then get to work. Take care and stay safe. The numbers of infections are rising every day here in Ontario, now that we opened back up. GW

Good Morning! So how you all doing on this fine Friday the 13th? Good I hope. Actually thinking about Friday the 13th, I have found over the years that for me, it is a lucky day. I guess it all boils down to what you believe in. Highway 522 is still busy these days, not much happening there, and it will remain that way for another month or so before things start to slow down. I have to admit that I am ready for a rest, and other than the real cold weather and snow, winter is starting to look pretty good. With things to do getting ready for winter, my lovely wife and I are about set. She still has to do up a few things like our peppers and cucumbers that we grow in our gardens. She also likes to do up some relish and things using our zucchini and tomatoes. I have to say, they sure are tasty after she works her magic, and I look forward to them every winter. Oh … you can buy most things in the stores these days, but they sure don’t taste as good as if you made them yourself using your own homegrown produce. Most things you buy in the stores these days have no taste at all, and if they don’t have the taste or the smell that they should be giving off, there isn’t much good in them. I suspect that is why a lot of people these days aren’t well. On another note, yesterday, my wife and I got our mowing done. It took most of the morning. It looks like a well groomed park anywhere you go on our property. I get up some mornings thinking of how lucky we are to have and live where we are now. And the thing is, we own it, at least for a little while. Nothing lasts forever. Today I will work away on our back deck, installing the new boards. Yesterday after mowing I treated the under parts of the deck with a good wood preserver, which will keep the things no one sees from rotting over time. It’s like a house, if the foundation isn’t done right, the house on top, isn’t worth a damn, LOL. I guess you could say life is like that too. And by the look of things in today’s world, I am thinking there are a lot of people that missed out on their foundation. Figure of speech, my friends, figure of speech. LOL With that I am off for my breakfast and will then see what the day has in store. I think I will quit early today and take in what our property has to offer with my lovely wife. Maybe a cool drink or two will be in order, LOL. Take care and stay safe. GW

Good Morning! It’s another cloudy morning waking up here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The temperature waking up was sitting at … 21.6 C | 70.88 F, it will warm up another 10 Degrees or so as the day progresses. With this humidity, it will feel quite warm. Last night we had a good downpour, but it only lasted for a half hour or so. But it did give all the trees and things a good drink, which they need. Along with that, all the rain we have been having is helping a lot with keeping the forest fires in our are at bay. Highway 522 is still busy these days, as is our stores here in town, with a lot of new people moving around looking for things to do. If you’re wanting to go shopping in a lot of stores, this isn’t the town to be in, LOL. But we do have a couple. Our small store has been closed now for two years. Thanks to this virus that is among us. We didn’t feel a few extra dollars was enough justification to keep it open. Or to get others along with ourselves sick. Next year, we will have a grand new opening with lots of new flutes, books and a real nice display of my wife’s paintings along with a bunch of new products. Yesterday I did manage to get the old boards off our back deck and fix a few things. It was really hot working out there, and I had to stop around 4:00 PM and call it a day. I was all in but my shoe laces. Felt good to have a shower and put my feet up. Today, my lovely wife and I have mowing to do around our property, which will take up most of the day. My wife’s leg isn’t the greatest yet, so she is easing back into things in spite of me telling her to take it easy. Maybe I will have to hide the mower. LOL With that I am off for my morning bowl of oatmeal and will then get to work. Take care and stay safe. The numbers of people getting infected are starting to rise now, since they have opened back up. And I suspect it will get a lot worse before it starts to get better. Especially with the unvaccinated folks. I feel for them, but as they keep saying … it is their choice. Be it good or bad. Have a good day. GW

Morning Chat Aug 11/2021

Good Morning! It’s another cloudy day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. Through the night, we did have some rain, but nothing to write home about. Today, though, we could see some heavy rain later on in the day. It will also remain quite warm, about the same as yesterday. So if your weak at heart, it might be a good idea to be careful working outside. I know I kind of overdid it yesterday myself, as it took me an hour and a shower to feel better after coming in for the day. I have to learn my limits and stop working so hard, now that I am getting up there in years. But it isn’t easy, as my mind says things are okay, but my body says … hold up there a minute. LOL Highway 522 is still busy which is a norm for this time of year. Things will slow down next month, as it always does when the kids go back to school. My wife and I are slowly getting everything finished that we planned for the year and then some. Makes me feel good that in spite of this virus amongst us, we didn’t let it stop us from getting these things done. Looking back, it’s hard to believe we did what we did. Today if the rain holds off I will continue taking off the old boards from our back deck. I did manage to get it half off yesterday. Once that is done, I will install all new boards, which will then be the end of our large projects for this year. Which is okay by me. With that, I am off for my morning bowl of oatmeal and will then get on with my day. Take care and stay safe. GW

Good Morning!. It’s a cloudy morning here waking up in Port Loring Ontario, Canada. We could see some rain as the day progresses. Maybe even a thunderstorm thrown in for good measure. I have to admit, we have had our share of warm weather this summer so far. The good news is that we also have had a lot of rain. Highway 522 is still busy these days, and I suspect it will get even busier now that Canada has opened its borders, letting people in from all over. My opinion is we should have kept things closed up for a while longer. At least till we have more vaccinated. But hey! I am told our Governments know what’s best. LOL On another note with all this heat and rain the fishing hasn’t been the greatest this year. But I am thinking it will change in the coming days. For the better, that is. My wife and I are still very busy these days. My wife has orders lined up for her paintings, along with a lot of custom orders. Myself, I am still busy working outside on some projects that needs to be done for winter. Yesterday, my wife took some time off from her paintings and helped me fix our chimney up on the roof that needed a paint job. I then cleaned it out good, so it is now ready for the cold weather. Which I hope doesn’t come too soon. After that we cleaned out our eve troughs and when that was done with the heat yesterday … we both were pooped out. We called it a day. Today I am going to weed our veggie garden a bit and then do some work inside our shower house that we built earlier in the year. With that I am off for a bowl of oatmeal with my lovely wife and will then get to work. That is, if it doesn’t rain. You just never know what can take place in one day. Take care and stay safe. GW
