Happenings In And Around Port Loring Ontario

Good Morning:  Well nice looking day out there starting off.  Sun is shinning but it is cool.  Temperatures waking up were sitting at 2.6 C | 36.68 F.

Forecast For Today:  Going to be a nice.  Sunshine should remain with us for most of the day.  A shower could make an appreance early this morning but I am thinking it will pass us by.  Temperaturs will warm up conciderably as they day moves forward.

Highway Report:  For those wanting to travel there should be no reason to hold you back.  Highway 522 is bare and dry but as I said in other posts the deer and moose could pose a problem, as the blackflies force them out of the bush into openings now and then. Will pay to keep an eye open for them.

Bug Report:  Blackflies are annoying here and there and will remain this way for the next few weeks.  If in the area and not used to them a bug jacket would be a great asset.

Fishing Information:  This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM.  Then once again a little later on this afternoon from 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM.  I give it a 3 fish rating out of 5 for catching a few this morning and a 4 fish rating out of 5 this afternoon. Winds this morning are calm coming in from the South South West.

Around Town:  Still quiet but there is quite a few new vehicals entering into the picture each morning.  Reports are coming in from some resort owners that they are renting cottages.  Others that have their own cottages are opening them up for the season. Lots of boats heading off down to the boat docks.  Mike at the garage here in town is really busy with doing spring tune ups on all his customers boat motors.  Most want to have them ready for the long weekend, which is only a day away.  For those that are taking Friday off and travelling, be careful out there.  GIve yourself some extra time as you might be the best driver in the world, but there is always someone that isn’t paying attention to what they should be.   Enjoy your day, stay safe.  Orange Pekoe tea here this morning with a touch of spearmint, fresh from our garden.  You can reach George Walters at [email protected]

Around Town:  Not to much to report here.  My garlic is up around ten inches already.  Looks like we will be having a great crop.  Can’t beat home grown fresh garlic.  My wife adds it to many of her dishes giving them a flavour that keeps you wanting more.  Tea time here.  Fresh dandelion is on the menu picked this morning.  Enjoy your day my friends.  You can reach George Walters at [email protected]

Happenings In & Around Port Loring Ontario

Good Morning:  We are starting off with a very windy morning here in Port Loring.  Which in reality is what is needed to dry things out some, after all that rain we been having.  Temperatures waking up were sitting at 11.4 C | 52.52 F.

Forecast For Today: Unsettled, probably improving a bit later.  We could even see a bit of sunshine as the day moves forward.  Tomorrow things will start to warm up a touch.

Bug Report:  Lots of reports coming in relating to the blackflies.  Seems they are out in full force in some areas and just a few in others.

Highway Report:  Highway 522 is bare throughout.  Lots of deer sightings all along the highway.   If one crosses in front of you, you can bet there is another not to far behind. With knowing that care should be taken if out and about.  Other than that travelling should be good.

Fishing Times:  Today the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM.  Then again from 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM.  I give it a 3 fish rating out of 5 for catching a few.  Winds this morning are coming in from the West at 7 MPH with gusts up to 20 MPH.

Around Town: Not to much on the way of things going on in our district.  Had a few of my friends that own resorts drop by saying how busy they are, getting things ready for the upcoming season.  Takes a lot of work to  maintain  property I will say that, especially in this country.  Keeps myself hopping all season long looking after things around our place.  But it is something most enjoy doing, which in itself makes things easier.  Tea time here, orange pekoe this morning all on its own.  Makes for a pleasant start of ones day.  You can reach George Walters at [email protected]

Forecast For Today: Stormy, much rain.  Should start to clear come mid week with some sunshine entering into the picture on Wednesday.

Highway Report:  Highway 522 is bare and wet throughout. Travelling will be good.

Bug Report:  Black Flies are out there in some areas worse than others.  Some have none yet.

Fishing Report:  This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM.  Then again a bit later from 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM.  Then one more time from 4:00 PM – 6:30 PM.  I give it a 2 fish rating out of 5 for catching a few.  Not the greatest for fishing today.  But one never knows.  Winds are calm coming in from the East South East.

Around Town:  Very quiet.  Too wet to do much outside work which I suspect is the main reason for this quietness.  Few cottagers back in our area opening up their cottages for the year.  Good to see them back.  So with that tea time here, orange pekoe with a touch of turmeric is my fancy this morning.  Good for all that ails ya, or just a fine drink.  Enjoy your day.  You can reach George Walters at [email protected]
