Contact Information

Over the years I have had numerous emails, every year increasing daily. I have been doing my darnedest to reply to each and every one of you, but lately I just can’t keep up. I feel bad about it, but there isn’t anything I can do, as to do so I would have to be on the computer for at least 4 hours a day.

So..for those that I haven’t replied back too, I apologize. I eventually will get to you, but might take some time. Thanks George Walters.

  1. While researching my mother-in-law’s family from Arnstein, Port Loring etc. I stumbled upon your Blog. It is most interesting and enjoyable reading. My mother-in-law, Doris Berger, was born in Arnstein in 1925 and is living in Toronto. Her mother was Dorothea Frederica Ziehim (Simms) daughter of Charles (Ziehm) Simms and Hannah Habich. Dorothea was one of 11 children. My husband and I were in Arnstein and Port Loring a few years back and were surprised how much has changed/closed in the area. We used to go up camping/fishing and boating (Sweets Log Cabins) for years in the 1970s. Dorothy Maxwell Berger is buried in Arnstein Cemetery. She was estranged from her husband Adolph Berger – left him in Arnstein with my mother-in-law in early 1940’s for Toronto. Needless to say my genealogy research has the Brooks/Stillar/Pilger etc etc. family members.

    1. Hi there good to hear from you. Sorry for not getting back to you, time of year. Nice to hear a bit of history about the area. Yes things have changed here in Port Loring over the past ten years or so. Old folks friends and so passing on and a few business’s closing up. Sign of the times I suspect, seems to be a norm for the area. More homes than ever before have been sold with new folks entering into the picture. Which is a good thing. Thanks again for saying hello. George W.
