Morning Report May 7/2020

Not too bad of a day so far starting things off. The sun is shinning, but we will see some clouds later on in the day. Tonight temperatures will drop and we could see an inch or so of snow by morning. Crazy weather. Highway 522 is bare and dry so far this morning and should stay that way for most the day. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 2.2 C | 35.96 F at the time of this post and will warm up as the day moves forward. The grass is greening up nicely, more each day that passes. Won’t be long and we will be mowing it once again. Which is okay with me as long as the mowers runs like they are suppose too. Time will tell in that department. On another note, yesterday my lovely wife and I did manage to get the last of our firewood piled in where it can dry throughout the summer months. Amazing that two old timers like us were able to move 15 cords in a day and a half. Happy about that. We had two really nice days to get it put away though, which made things nice. The sunshine stayed with us and temperatures weren’t too warm, and the best part was … we beat the Black Flies this year. Them blood sucking parasites can sure make a nice day not so good, if your outside in our area. Today my wife and I will take things a bit easy, rest up a bit. But I have to admit all that work got our bodies back in shape for summer. You could say it took all the kinks out of them. So with that I am off for my morning cup of tea and will let the day do as it wants. Take care and stay safe. GW

Morning Report May 6/2020

Good Morning. And it is a good morning too, with lots of sunshine here Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sunshine should stay with us for most the day with a few clouds entering into the picture later on this afternoon. Tomorrow we could see a light shower or a flurry or two off an on throughout the day, with cooler temperatures. Then on Friday we could see an inch or so of snow. So … it looks like spring hasn’t gotten a full hold on us yet. But after that things are looking good. Not much we can do about it. The reason for these temperatures and fluctuation’s with our weather is that the earth is going back to what it suppose to be. In other words it is healing itself after years of abuse from us humans. I never thought I would see it happen in my life time, but here it is … all caused by a tiny bug. Kind of amazing to say the least. Highway 522 is bare and dry this morning and should remain that way most the day. There is some traffic moving east and west these days. Hoping they are doing what they are suppose to be doing. But in saying that, my wife and I are, and technically if we keep on doing that we will be okay. On another note, our firewood came yesterday around 15 cords. My wife and I managed to pile almost half of it. I have to admit it is great weather for doing that. Today it will be much the same as yesterday, so if things goes to plan we should finish it up today, which will be nice as it then can dry all summer and be ready for next winter. I have always made sure throughout my life that the cupboards were full of food and enough fuel or firewood to keep us warm throughout the winter months. Do that and you are pretty well set for anything. Gives me a good feeling inside. Also we don’t have to depend on anyone else, which is the way it should be. With that … I am off for my morning cup of tea with my lovely wife, and then I will start up my old riding mower which I use to pull our trailer for piling the wood. It’s an oldie but a goody. Something like me. Ha Ha. Take care and stay safe. GW

Morning Report May 5/2020

Good Morning! We are having some sunshine this morning to start things off. But in saying that temperatures are quite cool sitting at -1.6 C | 29.12 F at the time of this post. Highway 522 is bare and dry which will make it nice for those that have to go someplace. It will warm up as the day moves forward and we should see lots of sunshine for most of the day and into tomorrow. The grass is greening up nicely so that is nice to see instead of the white for a change. Today we have our firewood being delivered so that will be the course of our day. Not that we will get it piled today but it’s nice to have sitting in our driveway, knowing it will be there for next winters heat. Then if things goes to plan we will start to pile it tomorrow. With that I am off for a bite to eat with my lovely wife and will let the day unfold around me. Have a great day and stay safe. GW

Morning Report May 4/2020

Good Morning. Cloudy morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. We should see some sunshine a bit later on in the morning. If we are lucky. It is kind of cool though with temperatures at the time of this post sitting at -0.2 C | 31.64 F. With temperatures being as they are I decided to light the wood furnace once again, which will save some oil. Oil though should be down in price I would think with the way gas is and things. The last time I filled it a month ago, there wasn’t any big savings to speak of. I am thinking these companies are buying it cheap and selling it at normal prices, same as a few gas stations. Might pay for a feller to price around and see what others are charging for furnace oil and gas these days. But in reality, it’s nothing new, as they have most of the public believing what they are telling them to be true, and no one questions things these days. Maybe they will now after this virus is out of the way. Which it will be given time. Best thing we can do as I keep on saying is to distance yourself from those you don’t know, and most you do know, if your not living with them that is. On another note highway 522 is bare and dry this morning, and traffic is on the quiet side. Which is a good thing. Seems to pick up as the day progresses with new folks entering into the picture every day. With that … I am off to check on my furnace to see if it needs another log or two, and will let the day unfold around my lovely wife and I. Take care and stay safe. GW

Morning Report May 3/2020

Good Morning. Well the good news is that we are having some sunshine here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. Temperatures though at the time of this post were sitting at 8.4 C | 47.12 F. Not the warmest temperatures, but by far not the coldest neither. I am thinking it will remain cool for the next two weeks, before it starts to warm up to where it will be really nice to sit outside, or go fishing. The reason for this years coolness is that the world is coming back to normal, with everyone staying home and not polluting the air, along with the stopping of planes by the thousands moving things around in our atmosphere. And the good news is as I predicted two months ago, that the ozone hole above us has now closed completely, which in turn protects us humans from the not so good radiation from the sun. Which in turn allows us to be out in the sunshine more taking in the much needed vitamin D 3, which will help us immensely with this virus going around. The virus is strong, but our bodies are stronger when given what it needs to stay healthy. Put some help with a new vaccine in place, and we should make out okay. We need both. But it will take awhile. Myself, if it wasn’t for this virus I would like for things to stay as it is for awhile, so that the earth can heal from the abuse us humans has shown it over the past fifty or so years. I also hope that we have learned a lesson, not just about the virus … but about treating our earth as it should be treated. Have people learned a lesson? As much as I would like to say … yep they have, I have serious doubts. But one can only hope. Highway 522 is bare and dry this morning and I think the rain has left us for a few weeks, at least in any great amounts. Now we will see how these black flies pan out, as I am thinking they are lurking in the wings. It should be interesting to see how bad they are this year. Who knows … maybe there will be help there too as there are a lot more birds arriving daily, around my home here, and they eat a great amount of them blood sucking parasites. HA HA. So with that you all take care, have a great day, make it a great day, and distance yourself from people you don’t know and even the ones you do know. It’s the only defence we have, other than sanitary measures which you all should know by now. GW

Morning Report May 2/2020

Good Morning. Well … it was sunny waking up here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada but now clouds have moved into our area. They will remain with us for most the day and into tonight. Tomorrow things should clear up with sunshine returning. Temperatures waking up were a touch cool sitting at 7 C | 44.6 F, but it will warm up later on this morning. We could see a few showers too throughout the day. I hope not. Highway 522 is bare and dry so far and quiet. Yesterday it picked up some with cars coming into our area from all over. It will be interesting to see what happens when the real warm weather enters into the picture. On another note the Black Flies haven’t been around yet, but I suspect they will show themselves shortly. It seems as soon as I have my gardens to plant and firewood to be piled … they are out in full force. I am hoping I might be ahead of them this year. With that I am off for my morning cup of tea and will let the day do as it wants. Not that I could do anything about it anyways. Have a great day and stay safe when around others. GW

Morning Report May 1/2020

It’s a cloudy morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. Temperatures were sitting at 3.9 C | 39.02 F. It will warm up a lot as the day progresses. We should see some sunshine, a bit later on this morning once the clouds clear out of our area. If things goes to plan my wife and I should get to do some front porch sitting, soaking up some of that sunshine. Highway 522 is quiet this morning, but it is only 7:30 AM. It will pick up some later on. On another note the grass is greening up nicely. If this keeps up we will be mowing it in a week or so. With the firewood we have to pile, grass cutting and gardens to plant, we will be quite busy. Which is okay by me as it keeps our minds on good things. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife and will let the day unfold around us. Take care and stay safe. GW
