Good Morning Port Loring Ontario Canada

Winters back. Waking up we were greeted with about 4 inches (10.16 cm) of the white stuff, and I don’t mean sand. It started around 5:00 PM last night and carried on through the night. Highway 522 is wet but bare as it is melting out there. I don’t suspect it will last long being the time of year. The snowfall warning has been ended for portions of Central Ontario, as snowfall amounts during the night were significantly less than first anticipated. Just the same I won’t be raking up leaves around the house that was left over from last Fall. Temperatures waking up were sitting at -1.1 C | 30.02 F So with that I am off to have a cup of coffee with my lovely wife and will let the day unfold around me. Great way to start the day. GW

Severe Weather Alerts – Port Loring, Ontario

Let’s hope this mess passes us by.

Significant late season snowfall today and tonight.
Snow is expected to move into portions of Central Ontario this afternoon. Total snowfall accumulations of 10 to 20 cm are likely by Monday morning.
The heaviest snow is generally expected in a swath of regions from the northern tip of the Bruce Peninsula towards Algonquin. Some areas immediately south of this swath may change over to rain for a period which would result in lesser snowfall accumulations.

There will also be a risk of freezing rain in some areas.

Good Afternoon

Well cloudy day here once again. But on the good side it isn’t that cold and the snow is melting rapidly. I would say it is about 90% gone. They are calling for some showers later on today which would help out things even more. Highway 522 is bare and dry at the moment. Temperatures are sitting at 3.1 C | 37.58 F On another note the Masters Tournament has been moved up, it started at 9:00 AM this morning as there is a storm in the area. This way the players have a good chance of finishing the final round. At the moment it is any ones game, as all players are playing some excellent golf. Great game one of the best I have seen. GW

Good Morning Port Loring Ontario Canada

Another cloudy morning. Temperatures are warming up sitting at 3.2 C | 37.76 F Today we will see much of the same. But the good news is the snow is rapidly melting. I actually can see my front lawn again. Highway 522 is bare and dry this morning which will make travelling good. We did have rain for most of the day yesterday which also helped in getting rid of the snow.

On another note, those that would like to watch the 2019 Masters Tournament will be able to do so on a few of our Canadian Television Stations, later on this afternoon and tomorrow. The leader board after yesterday, was!

Take note of our Canadian player Corey Conners. He will be a fellow to watch in the coming years. His position right now at the Masters is fantastic if you figure who he is up against. It is also great to see Tiger Woods making a come back after a few bad years.

The Masters, Corey Conners

For us in Canad when watching the Masters, keep an eye on Corey Conners. Canada as far as I am concerned doesn’t give enough credit to their Golfers. Mike Weir was a good Golfer, but there is one fellow that is much better. That is Corey Conners. At the moment he is at -3, which is fantastic. He is the fellow to keep an eye on. I think he is going to be one of the best Golfers to come down the tubes in a long, long time.

Good Morning Port Loring Ontario

Cloudy morning waking up. Climbing out of bed temperatures were sitting at 4.4 C | 39.92 F Today’s Forecast is calling for a mixed bag of weather. We might even see, or should say hear some thunder above us. Highway 522 is bare and dry at the moment. It at least feels warmer out there when I went outside to feed the birds. The snow is about 80% gone and with these warmer temperatures and rain it won’t last long. I did hear a die hard snowmobiler last night going through the bush. Not that much snow out there so it can’t be doing the machine any good. Oh well, it’s his money. With that I am off for my morning coffee with my lovely wife and I will then tune in the Masters for the second day. Yesterday was a great day. Starting off there was a threat of rain but it held off for most of the day. Hope it is nice today for all the golfers. At this time the leader board is saying:

1 Brooks Koepka -6
2 Bryson DeChambeau -6
3 Phil Mickelson -5
4 Ian Poulter -4
4 Dustin Johnson -4
6 Adam Scott -3

Good Morning Port Loring

We woke up to mostly clouds this morning. There is a warning up for some freezing rain overnight to Friday morning, which should make things interesting. Precipitation will begin as snow late this afternoon or evening, then change to ice pellets. Ice pellets will change to freezing rain overnight. Freezing rain will continue for several hours before finally changing to rain Friday morning. Temperatures waking up were sitting at -6 C | 21.2 F It should warm up a wee bit, but we will have to wait and see. Highway 522 at the moment is dry and bare, but that could change. On another note my lovely wife and I went to North Bay yesterday to pick up a few items of choice. Had a great day sunshine both ways. Roads were good other than a bit rough with the frost coming out of the ground. But they were dry, so the trip didn’t mess up my car for a change. In town, we picked up the things we wanted, found some great deals, and had lunch. Nothing special this time round. So with that I am off to put some more wood once again in the furnace and have a coffee with my wife, and will see what the day has in store. The 2019 Masters starts today. Should make for, 4 great days of Golf. Looking forward to it with a couple cool ones and maybe a Pizza thrown in for good measure. GW

The worlds best Golf, is at the Masters!

Good Morning Port Loring

Well a touch cool this morning. Temperatures were sitting at -3.4 C | 25.88 F It was sunny there for a bit, but at the moment it is cloudy. We are supposed to get more sunshine as the day progresses. One can only hope. Highway 522 is bare and dry this morning so those that are in need of some groceries or ? Travelling should be good. Myself I don’t know what I am going to do today. Maybe I will take a day off and relax. Tomorrow the Masters Golf game starts in Augusta Georgia. My lovely wife and I never miss it, so this weekend will be all Golf. I have to say I enjoy looking at the course as much as I do the game itself. They keep it groomed immaculately. Georgia is a great state with low taxes. My kind of place to live. With that I am off to put some wood in the furnace and have my morning coffee. GW

My Most Favourite Coffee. Can’t wait till their new Coffee shop opens in North Bay.

Free Dental Care, Seniors

This is great news. Well over do. Seniors have suffered for years with bad teeth. I can’t express enough, how happy I am to hear this. Not that I need help, but there are hundreds I do know that does need help. Some go through excruciating pain as they can’t afford to get things looked after. I also hope they cover it so Seniors can get new dentures. If Seniors can’t eat properly, they get sick. If they get sick, it costs millions more to treat them. Food for thought. Way to go Doug Ford.

Free dental care for low-income seniors to be announced in budget.

Good Morning Port Loring.

Rainy morning. Actually raining quite hard which in turn should melt a lot of snow. I will be happy when it is all gone. Been a long winter. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 1.8 C | 35.24 F Highway 522 is bare, but very wet with all the rain. I would think it is a good day to stay home. Relax a bit. That’s what I intend to do. On another note, I had our oil provider drop by yesterday to fill our tank. Not a cheap item on the list anymore. And to make it worse this Carbon Tax that is added, for no good reason, brings up the cost of a tank of oil $30.00. They say they are giving it back which isn’t totally true. Its not just the tax on gas or oil now, as with this new tax everything goes up. Reason being farmers have to charge more, trucking companies have to charge more, so everything goes up, like groceries, clothes you name it. We will pay dearly let me tell you. The worst part of it is, this Carbon tax does nothing in my eyes to help the environment. There are a lot better ways to address this problem than forcing tax on the working man and businesses. Think about this, how can punishing the working man help the environment? If they are giving it back why charge it in the first place? Laughable in some areas and painful in others. My Opinion Only.

Good Morning Port Loring

We woke up to showers this morning. But it is warmer with temperatures sitting at 3.3 C | 37.94 F Temperatures will warm up even more as the progresses. Highway 522 is bare and wet. But travelling should be good other than being a dreary day. Myself I am going to do some cleaning in my shop. It seems no matter how hard I try when working out there I can sure make a mess. The wife says show me a clean woodworking shop, I show you a feller that doesn’t do anything. Could be true. LOL So with that, I am off once again for my morning coffee, and if my nose is working correctly, I think bacon and eggs isn’t to far off. GW

Great way to start a morning!

Good morning Port Loring

Cloudy morning with some showers. The good thing is this warm rain should get rid of a lot of the snow. I have piles of it in certain areas. Highway 522 is wet but bare so travelling should be pretty good, other than it being a rainy day. Temperatures waking up was sitting at 2.3 C | 36.14 F The rain will continue most of the day and into this evening. Should ease off tomorrow morning and if we are lucky we might even see some sunshine. Temperatures will warm up even more. So with that I am off to have my morning cup of coffee and see what the day has in store of us. GW

Brings May Flowers!

Good Morning Port Loring

Cloudy day waking up. Temperatures are sitting at 1.1 C | 33.98 F Above freezing so the snow will be melting all day. Temperatures will rise even higher as the day moves forward. All we need now is a bit of sunshine to go along with these temperatures. Highway 522 is bare and dry which will make travelling a go today. I think I might wash my car again since it is warming up. Nothing bothers me more than to look out at a dirty vehicle. Especially with the cost of them these days. With that I am off for my morning coffee with my lovely wife and then will see what the day has to offer. Usually it is what ever I want it to be. I can make it a good day or I can make it a bad day. Good sounds better to me.

Pretty tasty!

Life is too Short

One day a father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the firm purpose of showing his son how poor people can be. They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.

On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, “How was the trip?” “It was great, Dad.” “Did you see how poor people can be?” the father asked. “Oh Yeah” said the son. “So what did you learn from the trip?” asked the father.

The son answered, “I saw that we have one dog and they had four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night. Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon.

We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight. We have servants who serve us, but they serve others. We buy our food, but they grow theirs. We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them.”

With this the boy’s father was speechless. Then his son added, “Thanks dad for showing me how poor we are.”

Buon giorno! Port Loring

No sun this morning, lots of clouds and cool. Temperatures waking up were sitting at -3.3 C | 26.06 F Highway 522 is bare and dry this morning. We could see around 1 inch (2.54 cm) of snow today. Let’s hope it passes us by. Today I will bring in a bit more firewood which should do it for this year. I hope! With that, I am off for my morning coffee with my lovely wife. Have a great Day!

Good Morning Port Loring

Once again we are waking up too sunny skies. Makes my day seeing the sun first thing. It is still quite cool though, with temperatures sitting at -5.1 C | 22.82 F Highway 522 is bare and dry throughout this morning, which will make travelling nice. My lovely wife and I did take a trip to North Bay yesterday to have lunch with our son and to pick up a few items, along with some groceries. The roads were a mess which dirtied up my nice shinny car. That will have to be addressed in the coming days. We met our son at Casey’s Grill & Bar and had a great meal. It’s located at 20 Maplewood Avenue, North Bay, Ontario. We all had a Club Trio
Half a classic club sandwich paired with roasted red pepper soup and a side Caesar salad. It was a delicious meal which cost $14.00 each. My son bought as it was my birthday which was a special treat. The meal was great but the visit with our son made our day. Living so far away it is hard to see our two boys, and when we get the chance to see them we take it. So with that I am off to put some more wood in the furnace and then will see what the day has in store. Have a great day!. GW

Lunch with our son Karl yesterday. Thanks, Guy!

Good Morning Port Loring.

This morning we had sunshine greeting us through the windows. Nice to see. Yesterday we had about an inch of snow but it melted as things turned to rain later on in the day. We should see sunshine off and on for most of the day and warming up a wee bit tomorrow. Temperatures were sitting at 0.3 C | 32.54 F Highway 522 is bare but wet. Travelling should be a go for today if you had a notion to head off to town. With that I am off to light the wood furnace and then have some breakfast. Have a great day. GW

Gives me the feeling that fishing isn’t too far off.

Carbon tax

Canada is warming on average at a rate twice as fast as the rest of the world, a new scientific report indicates.

The thing is it has only increased this amount in Canada. And another thing is, it has only increased 1.7C (3F) since 1948. It has taken 70 years to reach this amount. I will say that again … 70 years. To me it is no reason to get upset about. It also is no reason to force this carbon tax on folks. They say they are going to give it back. If this is the case why take it in the first place. Also, what they are giving you back, is just a piece of what we should be getting back, as this tax will raise prices from gas to food to all kinds of things. But the main concern is this. If you tax people to an extent that it hurts, people will start hoarding. When that happens no one wins. There is a lot better ways to save the environment than forcing tax upon companies and the working people. My opinion only.
