Around Town: Cornfest is behind us for another year. Stores will slow down some and folks will soon start closing up their cottages for winter. Amazing how fast time moves along. I always say enjoy each and every day to the fullest, as with time moving so fast one wouldn’t want to miss the good things in life. In reality though it is what you make it, good or bad. On another note. Tomatoes in our garden are all but done up for winter. Pumpkins are starting to turn in spite of the hot weather. Around Town: Well the heat once again has been taking toll on the plants and things. Sure a hard summer for growing things. I am surprised though at how nice my tomatoes are. Taste is excellent with one wanting more. A few days ago I planted another row of spinach for fall eating with sprouts showing off already. Around Town. For the last day of August it is quiet around town. Business’s are slowing down somewhat which is the sign of what is to come. Firewood is being piled high for winter with the thoughts of winter on folks minds. Trees like pines are dropping their needles and have been for the past few weeks. Knowing that heavy snow will be upon them soon enough. Plants have shed most their leaves with the dry weather we been having in hopes of saving themselves for next year. Highway Report: Highway 522 is quiet today. I am sure it will pick up as the tourists make their way into the area a bit later on today. Great weather for travelling.

Fishing Information: This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best time to be out there will be from 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM. Then once again from 4:00 PM – 7:30 PM. I give it a 3 fish rating out of 5 for catching a few this morning and a 4 fish rating this afternoon. Winds are light coming in from the South South West. Good Luck!
Around Town: Things are quiet as I type this morning. Myself I have some running around to do, then set back and let the energy around us take me to where I am suppose to be. Gardens are growing leaps and bounds these days with pretty well all kinds of vegetables ready to eat. Great time of year. With that enjoy your day, have a great weekend and stay safe. Good Morning: So how is everyone doing this morning? Good I hope. Great looking day with temperatures waking up sitting at 16 C | 60.8 F. Will warm up. Great weather to do anything one chooses.
Forecast For Today: Rather unsettled clearing later with lots of sunshine. Into tonight we could see a bit of rain and once again tomorrow morning. But sunshine will prevail for most parts.
Bug Report: Nothing much to report in that department, things are good.
Highway Report: Lots of cars, trucks and campers moving up and down highway 522. Few deer and moose crossing here and there. Travelling will be good today. Kind of day that makes a person want to move around some.
Fishing Information: This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there with pole in hand will be from 5:30 AM – 9:30 AM. Then once again from 11:30 AM – 2:00 PM. And one more time from 4:30 PM – 8:00 PM. I give it a 4 fish rating out of 5 for catching a few today. Great weather for fishing and reports are coming in that they have been biting. Good to hear.
Around Town: Lots of folks dropping by our small store. Reports also coming in that most resorts are doing well this month. I am happy about that as the owners work hard in keeping them going. On another note been eating zucchini every day. I like it when they aren’t to large. My wife likes to cut the zucchini in half lengthways. Using a spoon or a paring knife, scoop out some of the flesh, then fill the zucchini shells with the mixture of extra ground beef mixed with fresh grated garlic and tomato sauce. Some bread crumbs on the top make for a great look. Cover with a 3 year old cheddar cheese. Place on the prepared tray, drizzle with a little melted butter and bake for 30–35 minutes or until golden brown and ground beef is cooked. Quite tasty let me tell you.
