George Walters is a Canadian columnist and author with more than forty years of writing experience. For over twenty years he has written a weekly column for Postmedia Network — Canada's largest newspaper chain — never missing a single week, publishing fifty-two stories a year. Combined with his work in Reader's Digest Community Voices, World News, Country Living, The Country Register, and farm and rural lifestyle magazines across Canada, he has published well over two thousand stories drawn from everyday life. He writes about farm work, fishing, old trucks, and the kind of people you only find in small towns — but just as likely he'll hand a voice to a weathered telephone pole, or turn his eye on something happening in the world today and tell you exactly what he thinks about it. No subject is off limits. If there's a story in it, George will find it. He has been called a philosopher of everyday life, a description that came up more than once during his television appearances over the years — and it's not hard to see why. His writing has a way of making the ordinary feel worth sitting with. He is the author of eleven books, including yearly short story collections and the Clay Moretti Files mystery series. Clay is a fifty-year-old private investigator who drives a 1967 Ford Galaxie, smokes cigars, and operates by a code the modern world gave up on a long time ago. The cases are present day. The man handling them is not. All titles are available in paperback and eBook on Amazon. Together, George and his wife Ruth have also created Elmer Finds His Way, the first in what he hopes will be a long series of children's books. Ruth did all the illustrations, as she has for every one of George's books — and beyond that she designed and painted the covers as well. Her work is woven into every page of everything he has published. A few words from readers: "I pulled up a kitchen chair and read your story three times." "You have a way of making a person homesick for a place they haven't been to." "Thank you for writing things that make old people and kids feel the same way at the same time." All my titles are available in paperback and eBook on Amazon.ca here.

Long Day

Going to have supper. Homemade Potato Soup mixed with a lot of Fresh Veggies, watch a couple old Gunsmoke TV Shows and relax. Can’t get much better than that!

CANCER TIP

I know this to be true, as I have been treating my cancer now for over 12 years naturally.

Cancer can’t survive in an Alkaline Environment. First thing is to go out and buy yourself some PH Test Strips and check yourself out. You want it to be around the 7 or better mark. Then find a chart which there are many of online and get to eating more Alkaline Foods. And try hard to cut down if not all of your sugar intake. If you do want a bit, use only Organic Coconut Palm Sugar. Good Luck! And don’t think that Cancer is the end of things, as it isn’t. I wouldn’t hesitate to say that everyone if checked thoroughly would find they have some form of it in their body somewhere. Most I found goes away on its own. Good Luck!

Health Tip For Jan 25/2023

If there was one thing if asked, what would be the best thing a person could do, that would protect you from this virus, colds or flu’s of today. I would say start taking a vitamin D 3 1000 IU tablet a day. I would bet that if everyone in Canada had their level checked with a blood test, everyone would find they are well below what is needed to stay healthy. Even for myself being outside all summer, when I had mine checked, I was only at 40%. The reason for this is that most folks work inside, sitting at a computer more than they should be. I know some haven’t got a choice in the matter, but you do have a choice in taking a vitamin D3 Tablet every day. What have you got to lose? A lot more if you don’t.

What’s Happening In & Around Port Loring, Ontario, Canada on Jan 24/2023

Good Morning!

It’s another cloudy morning here in Port Loring. We did have about an inch of snow overnight. Not enough to warrant me waking up my snowblower. But in saying that, we are having some light flurries at the moment. By the looks of things, we could get another inch before is eases off later on today. So … we will see how that works out.

Highway 522 is pretty well free from snow, but there are a lot of icy sections throughout. So care should be taken if out and about. On another note, I still haven’t seen that many snowmobiles yet this year. Usually we see a hundred or more through the week, and sometimes even more. Weird winter for humans and nature. But then with a lot of people out of work, mortgage rates being so high, along with groceries and gas. And then the government preparing to take more taxes off the working man’s paycheck. I think our hard times here in Canada are just beginning. The worst part is our powers that be are still giving our money away to other countries. I can’t see how they can justify that in their minds, when so many here in Canada are in need. But then again, it’s been that way for a lot of years, just the same it shouldn’t be that way. We have to stop giving money and things away to other countries. Simple as that. The only way we are going to get out of this mess is if we look after ourselves first. Then we will be able to help others, within reason. Anyway, I am off for a bite to eat that my lovely wife is making for me, and I will see what the day has in store.

Stay Safe.
