News For Port Loring

Had our Local Service Boards Meeting last night.   Our Budget passed for another year.  Taxes only went up a dollar or two per household and that was to cover the increase in costs of things.   We also will be getting some new play ground equipment for our Community Center.  So now when an event is happening, at the center, the young ones has a place to play and stay safe.  It is a really nice set up for sure and come spring make sure you drop by and take a look. If you have young ones, bring them along, as after all it is for them.  Our office for the Local Service’s Board is almost complete and come the new year we are hoping to have it set up ready for the public to have a look. Long time coming and much needed.  The two signs that I am looking after for Highway 522, one coming in from Highway 69 and the other coming in from Highway 11 should be up come spring.  Just got to set down with the sign folks in the coming days to straighten a few things out.  Also would like to say here our Web Site and Blog is going really well.  We have been getting a great flow of folks dropping by to take a look at things.  The web site and Blog belongs to the community and is there for all, so remember if you are in need for information this is the place to come to, if you would like some information made public, with in reason, let me know and it will be added.  So guess that is it for today.   Tea time here and will cya all right back here tomorrow morning.

News For Port Loring & District

Not much happening actually, quite quiet.  Hardly any cars or trucks moving around out there for that matter. But then one has to realize winter is moving into our area and folks are relaxing a bit after the busy summer.  I for one enjoy the quiet times as it gives me more time to do some writing and shop work and more time to bug my wife.  On the health scene not to much sickness around, folks are staying relativity healthy from what I hear.    The easiest way to do that is to look after yourselves and don’t rely on others to do it for ya.  There is no one that knows your body better than you do.  An old feller one time said;

The doctor of the future
will no longer treat the
human frame with drugs,
but rather will cure
and prevent disease
with nutrition.”

Thomas Edison

No truer words have been said.  What you put in your body is what you become.  But not only what you put in your body, what you put on your body.  One has to do the research, come up with a life style and then do it, simple as that.  And as I said before don’t relay on anyone and I mean anyone to do it for ya.  You are your own keeper, no one else.  Have a great day my friends, tea time here with my lovely wife and I will cya all here again tomorrow morning.

What Everyone Should Know About Salt

You know most folks today figure that salt is one of the leading items eaten, that leads to heart disease.    I for one believe that to be untrue.   First off years ago anyone that worked for long hard hours was given salt tablets throughout their day.  Why? Well it is quite simple. Our bodies needs it to survive. It cleans the pores of toxins and if you taste your sweat it is pure salt water, if you taste your tears it is pure salt water.   With out salt we would all perish in a short order. So what has the medical profession been telling us?  Again simple, cut back on your salt intake.  And again in my eyes they are wrong and in doing so more folks are getting sick every day.  Cut back on your salt too much and you get sick, then you go on prescription drugs, then you have more problems, caused by the drugs.  Eventually you are on about ten different pills all causing you more problems.  You should be able to see a pattern here my friends.  It’s like looking at a blank wall, but then again there is plenty out there today that have a one track mind.  Now in saying this one also must realize that all salts are not equal. Not by a long shot.  First off all white table salt has been bleached to make it look nice.  Most of all the good things that were in it is now all gone.   So some say well I will switch to sea salt.   Wrong again.  All salt comes from the sea or was covered by water at one time.  What one really needs to be eating is organic salt, unprocessed and unrefined salt.  When you buy it it will be damp with a dull color to it and one has to dry it and crush it a touch to be able to use it.  Using this salt one can pretty well use all they want without complications  or worry of heart disease along with many other problems. Good salt helps ones body adjust to the chemicals and things that we are ingesting into our bodies these days and keeps us healthy and strong.  The kind I buy is Celtic Sea Salt® Brand.  Now get out there, buy the good stuff and get healthy.

Important News For Port Loring & District Wednesday, November 23 2011

Got a bit for folks to ponder on this morning.  Last night I attended a meeting at the Nursing Station relating to our Ambulance Service here in town and at the end of the night a good healthy plan was set in effect.  Danny Brooks in his own words said; I feel we are moving forward in a supportive direction for the long-term solutions to keeping our Ambulance service alive & well in the Argyle area.  A recruiting drive will also be sent out to the community via the Argyle Fire Department Quarterly Newsletter (January 2012 edition) and the Local Services Board web page bulletin board.

When this news letter comes out I urge everyone that lives in our area to take a look at it for yourselves, as I am sure it will ease everyone’s mind, along with quenching ones thirst of what is happening with our ambulance service here in Port Loring.  Let me assure you that there is lots being done to assure that we keep and maintain our ambulance service and once the news letter comes out it will eliminate any false rumours which manages to show their selves occasionally  as in all towns across Canada at one time of another.  Soon as the news letter is put out I will have it entered here on our Local Service Board’s Web Site for all to see.  Have a great day.

News in and around Port Loring.

There is a few events going on at the Legion here in town, you can check them out by going to Events on the main page under Community.   This time of year the Legion is what keeps our small town active, so if at all possible drop by sometime and take part in some of the events.  If not the events just to say hi to the folks that keep it going, along with the members.

Today I am in the shop again working on some flutes.  Like to get them behind me before Christmas as this new novel I have been working on is nagging   at me to get writing.  So will be giving it the attention it deserves in a month or so.

My book signings are about wrapped up for this year and I am not planning on putting a new book out come spring.  If things goes right the spring of 2013 will be when the next one arrives but this time it will be a fiction novel.  Kind of like to let myself go for a change and not directly relate the stories to myself, family or friends.  Will be a great book my friends when all said and done.   Well tea time here, my wife and I enjoy a cup or two every morning before we start our day and do some serious chatting.  LOL LOL  Been that way now for over thirty some years.  Enjoy your day, get some fresh air with some sunshine, eat right and rely on yourself for what ails ya and I will be here again tomorrow morning.

The Doctor Of The Future

A famous feller said this once a long time ago and today folks are just starting, I  will say that again, just starting to realize he is right.  I knew it all along and same as him no one was listening to me.  Take A Look

The doctor of the future
will no longer treat the
human frame with drugs,
but rather will cure
and prevent disease
with nutrition.”

Thomas Edison

You can put that in the bank my friends.

Modern Day Medicine Versus Common Sense

For those that would like to reduce their risk of a lot of diseases I would recommended a daily amount of foliate  which can easily be obtained through eating more  vegetables and fruits. Raw, natural foods high in folate include leafy greens, such as asparagus and spinach; dried or fresh legumes, including beans and lentils; and yeasts and sunflower seeds, while moderate amounts of folate can also be gotten from fresh fruits and vegetables (including oranges, bananas, broccoli and sprouts).  The more of these that one eats the better we all will be.  There is lots more things on the list that I could recommend one being raw garlic.  I believe that if every one took and crushed one clove of garlic a day, along with a drop of vitamin D that most of all the colds and flu’s would be eliminated. I also believe that if one dug enough Dandelion  roots each year from good healthy soil, that we would be able to eliminate over 75 % of all diseases.  Will this happen? Of course not, it’s to simple. Now a days folks look for that magic pill to fix everything and what is happening is that the pills are causing most of our problems.  Mark my words folks, the time is near when we will all soon find out, what is and has been happening with all these treatments and things that are being  handed out daily.  I can sum things up saying this.  Most folks have gotten used to the easy, softer smoother paths of life.  What should happen is they should be taking the rougher paths now a days, as that way it would slow one down a touch and give them time to think.  Sooner or later you will slow down, I can guarantee that, just it won’t be by your choosing.  It can be corrected though, you have to do it.  Start listening to your body and do what you know is right, not what others think is right.  We are all given that gift, just most never use it.

 My Opinion Only

IN The News. Cancer

Clinical breast exams are no longer routinely recommended for women at average risk of breast cancer, according to new Canadian guidelines.  Remember though that it doesn’t just stop here with Breast Cancer there is many many more on the list that should be stopped.

So there you go.  For years now I have always said that these tests and things that they are subjecting folks to are not good, if anything they are contributing to the cause, not the cure.  Same as biopsies, all they are dong will be proven one day, that it causes trouble not prevent it.  Today folks think that all these tests that are being done is a great thing, when in turn it is the cause of most of our troubles. Same as most of the medicine we take today.  No one and I say no one really understands what the long term effects have from taking these drugs.  I would bet that over seventy five percent of the folks today could fix their own problems, by just using common sense, along with a bit of research.  There is alternatives out there folks believe me.  One has to learn to take back the reigns and look after yourself and don’t rely on others to do it for ya.  My Opinion Only.

News Here In Port Loring Friday, November 18 2011

Again quiet around town.  With these cooler temperatures folks are sleeping in a touch.  Which I can’t rightly blame them.  Them warm covers makes it pretty hard to even think of getting out iof bed  This morning i got the old shop stove perkin’ away to warm it up a touch. Yesterday got my wood all cut for my flutes and today will plane them down to size and get them ready to use.  I enjoy these days in the shop, gives me some quiet time of a different sort.  While working, one reflects back on the just past summer and for most parts my mind is  already thinking of what next year might bring.  Nice to be able to do what one wants in life.  You know, there is no reason why any one can’t do just that neither, as it is all up to him or her on how they live their life.  Some want lots of money, some want fame, but for a very few of us that has worked hard all their life, not asking for anything other than food for the table, which for most parts we grow our own , good health and a warm place to hang his or her hat, well……living a simple life is all that we ask.  What is living a simple life?  Well, doing what we want, when we want and how we want. Not relying on others, being self efficient, having a few good friends to chat to and if one wants to stop for a coffee or tea he or she does just that, no matter what time of day.  Here in Port Loring one is able to do that my friends, surrounded by nature, fresh air and more in things to do than one could ever imagine, that is if one lets Mother Nature into ones life. It’s all up to you.  So guess that is it for today, going to go and have a nice cup of tea with my lovely wife, and, well…..let the day take me to where it so chooses.  Have a great day my friends and will CYA all back here tomorrow morning.

Well things are quiet.   Just that time of year folks.  Resorts are closed or closing up for the season.  Others are out hunting.  And quite a few that I know are headin’ south to warmer temperatures.  Can’t say I blame them neither, as at the moment the roads are clear of snow and once across the boarder heading into the good old USA, every mile gets warmer, that is if your pointing south.  For a good number of years my wife and I headed on down, leaving every year the second week in November.  Had a cottage in Sarasota Florida, nice spot, close to everything including some great fishing spots.  Hooked on many a big reds down there and sheep heads.  Can’t say I tasted any better other than our Walleye up here in Port Loring.  Large mouth bass is pretty tasty too though, along with our medium size pike.     Had some good times down there and look forward in going down again.  Well you all have a great day, stay safe and will say hello right here tomorrow morning.

Not much happening again today. Did walk down to visit Darrell at the garage here in town for a bit. I have always figured a bit of chattin’ is good for ones soul. Especially with friends. Picked up a jug of Mike’s Maple Syrup while there and will pour a bit of it over some of my lovely wife’s pancakes here this morning.   Pretty hard to beat his syrup for taste let me tell ya.
