Good Morning! It’s a cloudy morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The temperatures have cooled down some from Sunday, but it’s still not so bad. Getting out of bed, it was sitting at 4 C | 39.2 F. It will warm up as the day progresses. And by the looks of things, we should be in for a nice weekend. Time will tell. This time of year, you can expect almost anything. The black flies haven’t entered into the picture yet, which is okay with me. They usually start around Mother’s Day and last until around Father’s Day. We are also having some light showers this morning. Highway 522 is bare and wet, which will make travelling nice. Other than the gas prices. The ice on the lakes is pretty well all gone now. We have some friends on Caribou Lake, and they are visiting the cottage by boat this weekend to do a few things.

On another note, my wife and I have been really busy getting things ready to open our small gift shop at the end of next month. I have been busy making a few new items along with my lovely wife painting up a storm. Amazes me how she can whip things up. But then again, she has been painting for over fifty years. She is a great artist, that’s for sure. Her paintings have been purchased by folks from all over the world. Along with a lot from folks right here at home.

Today I will continue on working on a few projects I have on the go. Last Sunday I rolled our lawn which makes it really nice to walk on, along with helping out the grass, as with the soil heaving over the winter, so does the roots on things; Rolling puts things back to where they should be. It’s a job that no one sees. But it sure helps out nature. LOL

With that, I am off for a bowl of cereal and a piece of toast that my wife is preparing for me. Take care and stay safe. There are still a lot of people getting sick out there because of this virus. GW

Good Morning! It’s a bit cloudy this morning, but we are having some sunshine. The temperature waking up was sitting at 8.4 C | 47.12 F. It will warm up a lot as the day progresses. Tomorrow, however, it will drop back down to seasonal norms. The one thing we humans can’t do is control the weather. Which is a good thing.

Highway 522 is bare and dry this morning, which will make travelling good. My wife and I went to town yesterday to pick up a few groceries. Not a cheap venture anymore, with the price of gas in North Bay sitting at $1.94 a litre. I put $30.00 in our car, and it only gave us a quarter of a tank, if that. Kind of makes a feller wonder what our country is becoming. Then on top of that, the groceries weren’t cheap neither. The only deal we got was at Wendy’s where we got two free senior’s coffee. Ha ha.

With that I am off for a boiled egg and will then do some work on my old rider mower. I have been debating on whether to buy a new one or not. If so, I am leaning on buying a John Deere 100, but we will see how that goes. They aren’t cheap, neither. It’s hard to make a decision on what to buy these days.

Good Day. How you all making out this morning? Good I hope. Ruth and I are fine these days, just working away on different things for our grand reopening of our Gift Shop at the end of May. Lots to do, but everything is coming together, a little at a time. It won’t be long, and we will be opening our cottage for the summer too. I like to wait until the frost is totally out of the ground. I found that is a good rule of thumb for doing certain outside things. The ice, on the lakes and waterways, should be gone soon, as the temperature is supposed to get up to around the 24C/76F mark on Sunday. Only for one day, though, as then it drops back down to seasonal values. I will take it, as my wife and I are tired of the cold weather. Might even take the day and do some front porch sittin’.

On another note, I just finished lighting the old woodworking shop stove once again. I light it in the morning, and it lasts for most of the day. It doesn’t take much to warm it up, so it’s comfortable to work in. Yesterday I worked on some one of a kind items and will be doing the same today. I like making things that no one else has. I have been doing that for over 50 years or so. On top of all that, these things we make are made right here in Ontario using nothing but our own material. We don’t use or buy anything from China or offshore countries. Like some I know. In my mind, all of us in business should be catering to looking after our own country first.

With that I am off for a bowl of cereal that my lovely wife is making for me and will then get to work. I have been looking forward to working in my shop for the past month now. Keeps me out of trouble. Have a great day. GW

Good Morning! It’s a cloudy, rainy, windy day here for us here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The rain will remain with us this morning, then breaking away to sunshine in the afternoon. Along with that, the temperature will rise slowly, once the rain has stopped. Highway 522 is wet, but it won’t affect travelling for those that are in need of some things in the big cities. There is still some ice on the lakes, I went and took a look yesterday. This rain will help a lot in removing it.

Yesterday I worked pretty well all day in the woodworking shop. We are slowly getting a lot of … one of a kind items for our gift shop made up, for our grand re-opening, we will have a unique display of new things this year. Pieces never seen by human eyes, you could say.

With that I am off for a cup of coffee with my lovely wife and will then head on out to the shop. These rainy, wet, cold days, makes my woodworking shop look just that much more appealing. Have a great day and stay safe as there are a lot of people getting sick these days. GW

It’s a sunny morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. It is a touch cool though, with the temperature waking up sitting at 0.4 C | 32.72 F. It will warm up a bit as the day moves forward. I still have to have my wood stove going in my woodworking shop to keep things warm enough to work. In the house though I have switched over to oil which makes it easier to manage. If it gets too warm outside, the wood heat makes it too warm inside. So it’s an up and down situation every spring. The cold weather this year is hanging in there more than it has been over the past few years. Highway 522 is bare and dry this morning, which will make travelling good. The ice on the lakes and rivers is almost all gone now. If we get a couple more warm days, it will be all gone.

On another note I worked in the shop for a half a day yesterday then after lunch I had to take my car to Kerry’s Booth’s Garage here in town to get some work done on it. There is one thing that you can count on, and that is … as soon as the warranty is finished, things start to break down. We are lucky though to have a feller like Kerry that can fix these things right here in town. He is a great mechanic and a good friend of mine.

Today I will be working on a few items that my lovely wife wants me to make for our gift shop that will be opening at the end of May. She comes up with all kinds of neat things. I make them, she brings them to life with her paintings. We call that … Team Work.
