George Walters is a Canadian columnist and author with more than forty years of writing experience. For over twenty years he has written a weekly column for Postmedia Network — Canada's largest newspaper chain — never missing a single week, publishing fifty-two stories a year. Combined with his work in Reader's Digest Community Voices, World News, Country Living, The Country Register, and farm and rural lifestyle magazines across Canada, he has published well over two thousand stories drawn from everyday life. He writes about farm work, fishing, old trucks, and the kind of people you only find in small towns — but just as likely he'll hand a voice to a weathered telephone pole, or turn his eye on something happening in the world today and tell you exactly what he thinks about it. No subject is off limits. If there's a story in it, George will find it. He has been called a philosopher of everyday life, a description that came up more than once during his television appearances over the years — and it's not hard to see why. His writing has a way of making the ordinary feel worth sitting with. He is the author of eleven books, including yearly short story collections and the Clay Moretti Files mystery series. Clay is a fifty-year-old private investigator who drives a 1967 Ford Galaxie, smokes cigars, and operates by a code the modern world gave up on a long time ago. The cases are present day. The man handling them is not. All titles are available in paperback and eBook on Amazon. Together, George and his wife Ruth have also created Elmer Finds His Way, the first in what he hopes will be a long series of children's books. Ruth did all the illustrations, as she has for every one of George's books — and beyond that she designed and painted the covers as well. Her work is woven into every page of everything he has published. A few words from readers: "I pulled up a kitchen chair and read your story three times." "You have a way of making a person homesick for a place they haven't been to." "Thank you for writing things that make old people and kids feel the same way at the same time." All my titles are available in paperback and eBook on Amazon.ca here.

Nice Poem Written For Us Snowbirds

AN ODE TO THE SNOWBIRDS
Slowly the snowbirds are returning
You can watch them come back one by one
Unloading their cars or motor homes
So they can relax and have some fun.

Very soon the roads will be a nightmare
And the restaurants will be jam packed!
It will be shoulder to shoulder at Publix
But they still keep coming back.

They don’t care if Wal-Mart is crowded
They don’t get mad if the traffic is slow
They don’t complain about the long lines at Winn Dixie
They say, “it’s better than shoveling snow.”

They love the Florida sunshine
And a suntan is first on their list
They brought lots of shorts and sunscreen
And you can bet their winter coats won’t be missed!

They ride on their carts or their bicycles
Or by the poolside they can be found
Then off to the sales at Macy’s
Then to an early-bird dinner they’re bound.

They are always coming or going
Doing all they can do in one day!
It’s shuffleboard, horseshoes or golfing
Or learning to paint a picture in a day.

They play cards or plan a potluck dinner
They go fishing or to the beach for the day
Sometimes they go to the Clubhouse
So they can dance the night away.

It’s so much fun to watch them
Planning for a cruise or two
It’s just one great big vacation
For the snowbirds just passing through.

But one day soon they’ll be packing
To make the trip up north once more
And the memories they made will have to do them
Until they come back again and make more.

So may the Good Lord bless the snowbirds
When their time to leave grows near
May they enjoy good health and happiness
Until they come back again next year.

You Gotta See The Fluture Flutes

It has been awhile since my last post. So many things taking place these days that I just haven’t had time to do much writing or posting here on the Blog. Finally, we finished up our new flutes. They are called  Fluture Flutes, reason being it is a Flute of the future.  For over 30 years I have been making Flutes wanting to perfect a scale that will not just play one but will play dozens.  A mistake took me to what I was looking for.  From there I perfected it over and over till the Flutes took on a sound like no other.  I then stream lined them so to speak, installing a Totem on the top that sets things right.  Each Flute is made from exotic woods all inlaid so not one is the same. To appreciate their true beauty one has to come and see.  I added a picture of our collection, one of the largest in Canada.  Drop by, you will never see or hear Flutes of this calibre anywhere. They almost play themselves!!

More Than Your Average Store (Port Loring Ontario)

Well it’s been quite awhile since my last post.   It has been a really busy winter here at our home.  So busy I haven’t had time to be here on the Blog.  What has kept me so busy is my Flutes.
For the past 40 some years I been making Native American Flutes.  For Twenty some years I been working on a Flute that can play music like no others.
Last Fall I fell upon a sound that struck my interest and I been working on it steadily. It came to me you might say as an accident and with a lot of work in the tuning department, length, shape and sound chamber changes, I finally perfected a sound that takes on its own personality.
With this new flute a person can perform nearly any style of music that they choose.  The design has also been changed to sleek slender in looks which takes a person into a realm of mystery.  Could say, to a place where no one has been before.  So in doing so my wife and I came up with a name for our Flutes.   It is called Fluture flute In reality it is just what is says, a flute of the Future.
All items in our store has been created by my wife and I made right here on the premises.  A must to see no matter what way you look at it.  This year I will have a display of over 100 Flutes and almost all will be tuned in the new scale.
Along with them my wife’s paintings will be on display for those that have a heart for unique original paintings.  Also her cards and other creations will be in abundance.

The best advice I could put out there would be:   If you love something and can afford it, buy it.   It will be with you for a life time and then after.   If you feel it talks to you when gazing upon it, then, well it’s for you.

In  Closing, if your in Port Loring this year Ruth & I would love to see you.  Our store is small in size but huge in quality.

Look for our new sign out front.
