George Walters is a Canadian columnist and author with more than forty years of writing experience. For over twenty years he has written a weekly column for Postmedia Network — Canada's largest newspaper chain — never missing a single week, publishing fifty-two stories a year. Combined with his work in Reader's Digest Community Voices, World News, Country Living, The Country Register, and farm and rural lifestyle magazines across Canada, he has published well over two thousand stories drawn from everyday life. He writes about farm work, fishing, old trucks, and the kind of people you only find in small towns — but just as likely he'll hand a voice to a weathered telephone pole, or turn his eye on something happening in the world today and tell you exactly what he thinks about it. No subject is off limits. If there's a story in it, George will find it. He has been called a philosopher of everyday life, a description that came up more than once during his television appearances over the years — and it's not hard to see why. His writing has a way of making the ordinary feel worth sitting with. He is the author of eleven books, including yearly short story collections and the Clay Moretti Files mystery series. Clay is a fifty-year-old private investigator who drives a 1967 Ford Galaxie, smokes cigars, and operates by a code the modern world gave up on a long time ago. The cases are present day. The man handling them is not. All titles are available in paperback and eBook on Amazon. Together, George and his wife Ruth have also created Elmer Finds His Way, the first in what he hopes will be a long series of children's books. Ruth did all the illustrations, as she has for every one of George's books — and beyond that she designed and painted the covers as well. Her work is woven into every page of everything he has published. A few words from readers: "I pulled up a kitchen chair and read your story three times." "You have a way of making a person homesick for a place they haven't been to." "Thank you for writing things that make old people and kids feel the same way at the same time." All my titles are available in paperback and eBook on Amazon.ca here.

E-Mail Hoax’s

There is an E-Mail going round that says care will be less for our seniors this coming year called OHIP Changes.  For those that keep forwarding it I would like to tell you that it is a hoax.  I was forwarded this email a few weeks ago.  It only takes a minute to check it out on Google to confirm if these things are a hoax.  Why are people so gullible that they will believe every email they receive?   Amazing really. Take the time folks before forwarding these things as all it does is spread false rumors and cause problems along with upsetting folks. I wouldn’t hesitate to say that over three quarters of all our E-Mails are untrue.  Also the ones that says.  If you don’t forward this bad things will happen to you… or if you don’t forward this with in so many hours you will miss out on a fortune. Then comes all the Religion & God ones…made up to get you to thinking about just that…. Religion & God.   All a bunch of garbage my friends and not one speck of it should be taken to heart.

What Makes Life Worth While

For years I have said how nice it is to live here in Port Loring.  Waking up this morning to what beauty nature brought to us last night is just one more item to add to my list of things, that makes my days here that much more precious. Speaking of the snow that is that we had last night.  You know I have taken a lot of interest in our area to heart, with our locals and in reality i can’t honestly say I have met one not so nice person.  Sure some have their trend that is different than mine, but for most parts I enjoy being able to call them my friends.  Not to forget the tourists neither as I have made some mighty fine friends there also.  You know…the air in Port Loring is so pure, tourists come to visit and stop over for a few days just to fill their tires with it.   That’s not Brag neither, just fact.  Enjoy your day My Friends!

Flu Shots

Well as most of you know the flu this season has surpassed most expectations this season.  Kind of makes one think don’t it that if these flu shots that they spend millions on promoting are doing their job at all.  I would think if they were, there would be less cases around not more or getting worse.  Truth be known most people getting the flu right now are the same people who were vaccinated with the flu shot.  If you really want to stay healthy this flu season, the answer is Vitamin D. I would also like to mention here that for those that can get out into the sunshine to do so, as it is the best source of vitamin D there is.  Along with a good healthy diet and life style.   To verify the truth in all this…. check with your own friends, family members or co-workers. Ask the ones who got sick: Did you get a flu shot? See what arises from that question, I am sure you will be surprised. I have found from asking folks that most have had the flu shot.   It’s all there my friends, right before your eyes. You just have to look, pay attention and take the blinders off.  So all an all I guess this flu shot does work to some extent, it gives a lot of folks the flu.

Interesting Article What Health Canada Is Doing

You can read below and then click this link for all the information.   http://wakeup-world.com/2013/01/08/canada-banning-non-invasive-breast-detecting-thermography-technology/

Corporations like mainstream media, multi-billion dollars pharmaceutical companies, and the cancer industry don’t know anything about health. They don’t want to know and they don’t need to know. They are businesses and they need to make money. They use fear and the promise of a symptom-free life as motivators. They also have to serve high interests and brainwash the population with theories, which change according to the drug or toxic therapy that’s being marketed and brings the most profit at the time.

Yes, VIRGINIA, there is a Santa Claus

As A Writer here is My Favorite.

Dear Editor,
I am eight years old. Some of my little friends say there is no Santa Claus. Papa says “If you see it in the Sun it’s so.” Please tell me the truth, is there a Santa Claus?

Virginia O’Hanlon.
115 W.95th St

When Virginia O’Hanlon’s plaintive letter made it to his desk in late September, he could have easily passed the letter on to some anonymous staff writer for a quick innocuous reply.  But something in the letter made him pause.  Perhaps, he thought, this was an opportunity to say something meaningful about life, dreams, and innocence in an increasingly skeptical and commercial world.  He seized the opportunity an this was his reply.

Answer:

VIRGINIA, your little friends are wrong. They have been affected by the skepticism of a skeptical age. They do not believe except [what] they see. They think that nothing can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds. All minds, Virginia, whether they be men’s or children’s, are little. In this great universe of ours man is a mere insect, an ant, in his intellect, as compared with the boundless world about him, as measured by the intelligence capable of grasping the whole of truth and knowledge.

Yes, VIRGINIA, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus. It would be as dreary as if there were no VIRGINIA S. There would be no childlike faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence. We should have no enjoyment, except in sense and sight. The eternal light with which childhood fills the world would be extinguished.

Not believe in Santa Claus! You might as well not believe in fairies! You might get your papa to hire men to watch in all the chimneys on Christmas Eve to catch Santa Claus, but even if they did not see Santa Claus coming down, what would that prove? Nobody sees Santa Claus, but that is no sign that there is no Santa Claus. The most real things in the world are those that neither children nor men can see. Did you ever see fairies dancing on the lawn? Of course not, but that’s no proof that they are not there. Nobody can conceive or imagine all the wonders there are unseen and unsee-able in the world.

You may tear apart the baby’s rattle and see what makes the noise inside, but there is a veil covering the unseen world which not the strongest man, nor even the united strength of all the strongest men that ever lived, could tear apart. Only faith, fancy, poetry, love, romance, can push aside that curtain and view and picture the supernal beauty and glory beyond. Is it all real? Ah, VIRGINIA, in all this world there is nothing else real and abiding.

No Santa Claus! Thank GOD! he lives, and he lives forever. A thousand years from now, Virginia, nay, ten times ten thousand years from now, he will continue to make glad the heart of childhood.
