News, Weather & Hunting Information For Port Loring Ontario Canada

Good Morning:  Well had another six inches of snow here in Port Loring over night.  Temperatures waking up were sitting at…-5.4 C | 22.28 F.  A touch cool.

Forecast For Today:  A bit stormy with light flurries off and on throughout the day.

Hunting Information:  This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 8:00 AM –  11:30 AM.  Then once again a bit later from 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM.  I give it a 2 Buck rating out of 5 for seeing a few.  Winds this morning are coming in from the North West and calm at the moment. They will pick up to around 6 MPH a bit later.  Good Luck.

Around Town:  Not to much happening in the way of things.  Most stores are quiet  and rightly so with all the snow we been having for the past three days.  Highway 522 is snow covered throughout  with some icy sections underneath that snow.  So extra care should be taken if out and about.  Myself I will wait another day or so till things clear up some before heading on into town.  On another note we noticed something quite strange yesterday while out cleaning out our driveway.  My wife and I were standing there taking in natures beauty when up in a tree we spotted a Robin.   Usually they have all headed on down to warmer weather this time of year.  My old friend Grey Wolf many years ago said that if you see a red breasted  bird along with snow, you will prosper in spring.  So we will just have to wait till next year to find out if his knowledge comes to being.  I have to say I never in all the years knowing the man found him wrong in what he said about things.   Enjoy your day my friends.  You can reach me George Walters at:  [email protected]

Forecast For Today:  Stormy with more snow. Colder temperatures will also move into our area later on tonight and into tonight.  So an extra blanket might be in order for tonight.

Hunting Times;  Well rifle season is done with here in Port Loring for this year. Bow season now reopens today for a month.  So for those that are into Bow Hunting here are the times to be out there.  This morning things are staying that the best times will be from 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM then once again a bit later from 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM.  I give it a 4 Buck Rating out of 5 for seeing a few.  Winds this morning are calm coming in from the West South West.  They will pick up to around 6 MPH a bit later on this afternoon.

Around Town:  Highway 522 is snow covered for most parts from Highway 69 straight through to Highway 11.  Also some icy sections throughout.  So care should be definitely taken if out and about today.  The Snowploughs  have been out and things should improve in a bit once the salt has a chance to do its job.  With Christmas edging in on us folks minds I suspect are on what they are going to buy their loved ones and friends.  Even last week when we were in North Bay the stores were packed and I suspect every week from here on in will be even that much busier.  Myself I love the hustle and bustle, just something about it that brings into me the spirit of what lies ahead.  My wife and I make a point of just walking through the malls listening to music and what folks are saying on their venturing into the realms of Christmas.  Try it sometime, don’t need to buy anything, just take in what comes your way.  So my friends, enjoy your day, stay warm an safe.  You can reach me George Walters at:    [email protected]

Weather, News & Hunting Times For Port Loring Ontario Canada

Good Morning:   Well we here in Port Loring woke up to some snow.  Around 4 inches or so.  Temperatures were a touch cool also sitting at… -2.6 C | 27.32 F.

Forecast For Today:  Stormy, with snow off and on throughout the day. We could see a bit of sunshine a bit later.

Hunting Times:   This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM.  Then again a bit later from…12:00 PM – 3:00 PM.  Winds this morning are coming in from the South and calm but will pick up to around 10 MPH a bit later.  I give it a 3 Buck rating out of 5 for seeing a few.  Good Luck.

Around Town:  Highway 522 is snow covered with icy sections throughout this morning.  Care should be taken if out and about.  Might even pay to stay home today if at all possible.  I have to say though it is beautiful with all the snow.  Entices ones mind into seeing what is truly important in life.  On another note, hunting season with guns is finished after today.  Bow season now is open starting Monday November 17/2014.  So still time to get that trophy buck if your into hunting with a Bow.  I been giving it some thought.  Had a friend that hunts out near Grundy Park and he said him and his group got five this year.  So congrats goes out to him and his party.  Myself I didn’t get one this year, not that I didn’t try that’s for sure, as I was out there almost every day.  Couldn’t do much walking and things being a touch sore, but I did give it my best shot. Or so to speak.  First week not even a track around where I was situated.  Second week it got colder and tracks were showing up everywhere.  Just they weren’t moving when I was hunting.  But all and all I had a good time taking in what nature had to offer.  Sometimes one just needs a bit of solitude to bring things into prospective.  At least it is that way for me.  Also another friend of mine that owns some property over on Caribou Lake got a nice Buck, day before yesterday. More reports now coming in, so…. there was a lot of folks that did quite well this year.  So my friends, stay warm and enjoy your day.  You can reach me George Walters at  [email protected]
