Hunting Times:    This morning Data is saying that the best times to be out there hunting will be from 8:45 AM – 11:45 AM,  Then a bit later from…3:30 PM – 5:30 PM.  Exact times will be  9:00 AM, 11:00 AM & 4:30 PM.   Winds are coming in from the…North West at   1.3 m/s | 4.68 km/h | 2.91 mph.  I give it a 3 Buck Rating out of 5 for seeing a few. Deer as of now are in Pre Rut Season.  Their main feeding time today will be at dusk.  Good Luck!

Around Town:  Not too much to report on this Sunday morning.  Folks are enjoying their day off work.  Or should say a lot are as some do have to work.  Seems money these days oversees the balance of nature. But that is what us humans have put forth so who am I to judge.  Moving into this old house of ours I came upon a picture with detailed instructions on how to set up an old water pump.  Figured I would let you all have a look see. Even got the manual for it which is amazing. Also a letter dated back to 1955 with George Lee asking for instructions.  Quite interesting to say the least.  Letter with old pump and dated Old PUmp 1955 Click Pictures To Enlarge…   Have a great Day!

Around Town:  Quiet is a norm for our area this time of year. But with rifle season for deer slowly moving closer there will be a lot more folks added to our population in a couple more weeks.   Last year I managed to get a really nice buck for the freezer and it was so nice I had it mounted.  Takes about a year to do when all said and done.  Here is a picture of it now hanging in our living room.   IMG_8626Click To Enlarge.  The fellow that does them up does a fantastic job and I would highly recommend him if you are thinking of maybe having one done.  Here is his E-Mail for future reference.  His name is Keith.  E-Mail…[email protected]    Great fellow for sure as he takes the care needed to bring perfection to the mount itself.  We sure are enjoying ours with folks dropping in from all over to take it in.  I know it isn’t some folks cup of tea, but if one really sits down an thinks on it, I am sure they will see the value and I don’t mean in money but in having one done up.  I don’t hunt for the pleasure in killing I hunt for the means to eat as does many others in our area.  When this Buck came along it was so beautiful I just didn’t have the heart to throw the hide or head away, never to be seen again.  Kind of figured I gave it remembrance for the coming of time.  The hide I also got done up and it will be ready for Christmas.  Another great added piece for us to enjoy hanging on the back of our sofa.  Enjoy your day my friends, stay warm and dry.  George Walters  [email protected]

Colder Weather For Port Loring George’s Prediction

Well we had a few days of warmer weather now we will have about four days of colder weather.  Tonight and tomorrow and maybe the next day the temperatures will go down to below 0 old scale. Then look for a warm up a bit.  Ok with me as I don’t have to stoke the old wood furnace as much when it warms up some. But for the next few days, up through the night is going to be called for.  Have  a great day.

Warmer Weather For Port Loring Ontario

Just thought I would take a look for weather signs while out for a walk the other day and all point to a few days of nice weather starting tomorrow, so no reason now not to get out there and go for a walk yourselves.  Don’t plant your tomatoes yet though.    Enjoy.

Few Winter Tips

Keep your headlights clear with car wax! Just wipe ordinary car wax on your headlights. It contains special water repellents that will prevent that messy mixture from accumulating on your lights – lasts 6 weeks.

Squeak-proof your wipers with rubbing alcohol! Wipe the wipers with a cloth saturated with rubbing alcohol or ammonia. This one trick can make badly streaking & squeaking wipers change to near perfect silence & clarity.

Ice-proof your windows with vinegar! Frost on it’s way? Just fill a spray bottle with three parts vinegar to one part water & spritz it on all your windows at night. In the morning, they’ll be clear of icy mess. Vinegar contains acetic acid, which raises the melting point of water—preventing water from freezing!

Prevent car doors from freezing shut with cooking spray! Spritz cooking oil on the rubber seals around car doors & rub it in with a paper towel.  The cooking spray prevents water from melting into the rubber

Fog-proof your windshield with shaving cream! Spray some shaving cream on the inside of your windshield & wipe if off with paper towels. Shaving cream has many of the same ingredients found in commercial defoggers.

De-ice your lock in seconds with hand sanitiser! Just put some hand sanitiser gel on the key & the lock & the problems solved!
