Morning Report June 28/2020

Good Morning! It’s a really nice looking day waking up here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is shinning and at the moment it isn’t that hot yet with temperatures sitting at 17.9 C | 64.22 F. It will warm up a lot though and remain hot for all of next week. If the humidity stays away it won’t be so bad. Time will tell how that works out. Yesterday my lovely wife and I took things a bit easy. Today I will do some work in my gardens tilling it up a wee bit, which will get rid of a few weeds that are trying to take over. Then once that is finished I might just do some more front porch sitting along with working on another Podcast. Lots to do around a home. The only issue is … if I want to do it LOL. Highway 522 was really busy yesterday with folks coming in from other towns and cities. The black-flies I found are still with us a wee bit, but not so bad that it stops a person from being outside. The mosquitoes are quite bad if your in certain areas that are shaded a wee bit. The horseflies and deer flies aren’t that bad yet, but once things heat up a bit they will be around annoying folks. With that … I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife and will let the day do as it wants. Have a great day, and stay safe. GW

Good Morning! Hope you are all well this morning. The sun is shinning this morning in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. It will continue to do so with a few clouds thrown in for good measure. We could possibly get a shower too later today. Temperatures will rise and it will become quite hot for the next two weeks, with lots of sunshine. Good job the price of hydro is down a wee bit, as I suspect a lot of folks will be cranking up their air-conditioner. At least for those that have one. Highway 522 is busy this morning with more folks moving into our area. Some do what they are suppose to do, others don’t care at all. So we that are taking precautions … will have to take extra care. Not much we can do. On another note my vegetable gardens are growing leaps and bounds these days. No shortage of greens for the supper table that’s for sure. Today I will work on another podcast. I got my exercise yesterday mowing. My old mower made it through another cut. LOL. It sure looks nice though when all said and done. I could sit outside on the front porch looking at things all day. We have a great piece of property to say the least. But it didn’t get this way by doing nothing. It took my lovely wife and I a lot of work to get it to where it is. So with that, I am off for my morning cup of coffee and then will see what develops as the day moves forward. Have a great day, stay safe and don’t go into places that are unnecessary. Well … I can’t tell you what to do, but it is a good suggestion LOL. GW

Good Morning. Well … to start things off we are in the midst of a few clouds this morning. Temperatures were sitting at 16.1 C | 60.98 F. It will warm up as the day moves forward. Then tonight we could see a few showers off and on and into tomorrow. But I don’t suspect we will get too much. Highway 522 is a bit busy this morning but it is Friday and everyone is out an about picking up things for the weekend. I suspect the LCBO will be booming today. LOL. The black-flies are all but gone, but the mosquitoes are quite bad. We need some sunshine to slow them down some. For ourselves we will be mowing some grass around the house here. I will be able to see if all my work fixing my rider paid off. Hope so, as them new riders can get expensive. With that I am off for my morning cup of tea and will then see what develops. Take care and stay safe. GW

So how you all doing this morning? Good I hope. Here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada we all woke up to some clouds with the sun trying to make an appearance. It will show itself in awhile and temperatures should get warmer. Which in turn should make it a really nice day. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 13.9 C | 57.02 F. Highway 522 is a touch busy this morning and will get even more so as the day progresses … as it is nearing the weekend. On another note my vegetable garden sure perked up with this rain, and the lettuce is amazing. I should mention that if anyone would like some, let me know as I have lots and it’s a shame for it to go to waste. There is no way my lovely wife and I can eat it all. It’s all organic, various kinds and virus free LOL No charge. With that I am off to have a coffee with my lovely wife and will then see what the day has in store for us. Take care, stay safe and do what is right. GW

Good Morning! We all woke up to some showers this morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. I hope it continues for most of the day and into this evening as the trees and plants needs it. Although … looking out at my vegetable garden this morning even with a wee bit of rain, it sure has spruced things up a lot. Never ceases to amaze me how a simple shower can make things grow. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 13.8 C | 56.84 F. I have to say I enjoy the cooler temperatures throughout the summer months. But we have to take what we get. Next week things will start to warm up again. Highway 522 is slow this morning, but it is early in the week and these gloomy days slow things down some. Today I will do a bit more work in my shop as I have a few things on the go out there. Then later on I will finish up the Podcast I am working on for Friday. After that I might do some more practising on my Guitar LOL I got it a few years ago and never got around to learning how to play it. So another challenge for me. I am slowly getting my fingers going to three cords E-A-D LOL. Not as easy as some would think. Those that play a guitar make it look easy LOL. I am open for any tips someone might have. I did have a lady offer to help me, but we were so busy when she offered with orders and things I didn’t take her up on it and now with this virus going around we are not able to get together. So if there is any help out there it will have to be done from a distance. LOL With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and then will see what the day has in store. You just never know what might take place. With that take care and stay safe. GW

Hi Folks. It’s showery cloudy morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. We should see some showers off and on for most of the day. We could see a bit of a thunderstorm too if it tracks in our direction. At the moment we are having some light rain. We need it though as things are quite dry. My vegetable gardens are in need of a good drink. You can water as much as you like, but nothing is as good as Mother Nature. Temperatures waking up have cooled down with it sitting at 19.1 C | 66.38 F. Which is okay with me as I don’t like the real hot temperatures. The mid 70s is fine with me. The black-flies are pretty well all gone now but the mosquitoes are still with us, and will remain with us in part for most of the summer … along with the horse flies and deer flies. I have to admit them deer flies and horse flies can be annoying too. If they find you they don’t leave you alone. Highway 522 is quiet this morning which is a good thing. But I suspect it will pick up once the rain eases off and we near the weekend. With that I am off once again for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife and will then see what I can get myself into. I do have another Podcast in the works, so maybe I will finish that up for Friday. Take care, stay safe, social distance, do what’s right and stay out of stores if you don’t need to be in them. GW

Morning Report June 22/2020

Good Morning!. We are in the midst of some clouds here this morning, in Port Loring Ontario Canada. There is a slight chance of some rain today later on. However it will remain warm for most of the day. Tomorrow things cool down with more rain or even a Thunderstorm in the forecast. Which is needed in our area. Highway 522 is kind of busy this morning with a few cars moving up and down the highway. Lots of trucks, so looks like construction is still going strong. Temperatures waking up at the time of this post was sitting at20.1 C | 68.18 F. The grass isn’t growing as fast these days so that makes things easier for my wife and I. Not that we really mind mowing, as it is exercise. The firewood we piled earlier with this heat is sure drying nice, which will be really nice to burn come winter. Although … we might not burn as much this year, using oil in its place. Seems every year our bodies get a touch tireder LOL But we will see how it goes. On another note, I did manage to get my mower fixed the other day. Took me most of the day removing the deck fixing things and installing it back on. How long will it last? Hard to tell, but this I know for sure. If it breaks down again I will be buying a new one. Can’t complain though as it is well over thirty years old. It would be very hard to find a new one today that would last that long. Today I will do some work in my shop as it is one heck of a mess. With painting decks, fixing things and me not putting things back where they are suppose to go …. well it needs some attention. The Black Flies have all but gone now, which makes us smile. The mosquitoes are still with us and this hot humid weather will keep them around for awhile longer. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife, do some chatting and then get on with our day. Take care, stay safe and do what is right when it comes to this virus. GW

Morning Report June 21/2020

Happy Fathers day to all you Fathers. Once again here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada the sun is shinning and it is quite warm. Temperatures getting out of bed were sitting at 22 C | 71.6 F. The humidity outside is sitting at 78 %. Quite high. You put that with the hot temperatures and it makes being outside feel extra warm. It will warm up even more as the day progress. A cold front will move through Monday bringing an end to the heat. If we are lucky we will have a bit of rain late in the day tomorrow and into Tuesday. It would be nice as the trees and plants are in need of a good drink. Highway 522 is slow this morning which is a good thing. You know with all that is going on in the world today, I kind of like the way things are going. Folks working from home, giving their children more quality time, working around the house getting things done where as before they paid others to do things, staying away from people that are sick … and right now if you look at things, there isn’t hardly a cold or regular flu anywhere. Operations in hospitals is down to a crawl. Treatments for a lot of diseases are being healed without modern medicine and the list goes on an on. Not to forget how Nature is healing itself. Things have never been so green or the air so clean. You know, looking at things it is one of the best Fathers day’s I have ever had. LOL. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife on the front porch before the heat really sets in, and then I will enjoy taking it easy today. What am I having for Fathers day for supper. Glad you asked. Today my wife is making me a turkey with home made dressing,, cranberry sauce, and mashed potatoes with her special gravy thrown in for good measure. Then for desert we are having a strawberry cheese cake with whip cream and a drizzle of home made dark chocolate. Yep I’ll tell you …. life is sure rough here these days. LOL Have a great day, stay safe and do what is right.

Good Morning! It’s another really nice day for us here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is making its appearance with no clouds to hinder its heat. It will be quite warm today, about the same as yesterday, maybe a touch warmer. There is heat warnings up for our area. Highway 522 is quiet, but it is early. It will pick up as the day moves forward and being Saturday the LCBO will be busy once again. Actually …. it’s busy every day but more so with the heat. I can’t blame folks for wanting a bit of an escape. Today I will be working on my old Riding Lawn mower as a part broke on it yesterday while mowing. I am hoping I can fix it without to much trouble. Always something. But it is an oldie and has a lot of miles on her. It’s an old Roper LOL. I have to say … it turns more heads when I get to mowing out by the road … than a brand new one would. Ha Ha. But it runs and gets the job done. After I fix it I will then give my vegetable garden a drink, as the plants are in need. If we are lucky we should see some rain and cooler temperatures moving into our area Tuesday or Wednesday. So with that I am off for my morning cup of coffee on the front porch with my lovely wife, and will then see what mischief I can get myself into. Take care, wear a mask when around people, and keep your distance …. and on top of that don’t go into places unless it is absolutely necessary. And then … think twice about it. GW

Morning Report June 19/2020

Good Morning! Well it is looking like another really nice day shaping up for us here in Port, Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is shinning once again without a cloud in the sky. Highway 522 is getting busy these days with more folks coming into our area daily. The only thing wit that is that most aren’t wearing a mask or social distancing. Amazing to say the least. The thing I keep on telling folks is that the virus is still there and just as dangerous as it was when it started. The only reason the numbers are down is because of the precautions we were doing. For us here in Port Loring it is because we live so far off the beaten track and not many folks are here. But that could change at any given moment. But not much a few people can do about it, other than protect yourselves from those that don’t give a dam. So there you have it my rant for a Friday morning LOL. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and then will do some mowing before it gets to hot … which it is going to do later on. Take care, stay safe and do what is right. GW

Good Morning! Well … we are in the midst of another really nice day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is shinning once again without a cloud in the sky. What can be better than that? Highway 522 is slow at the time of this post, but it is early. Things will pick up as the day moves forward being so close to the weekend. The grass is slowing down somewhat so mowing day will be a bit easier. The vegetable gardens are growing leaps and bounds with fresh lettuce being eaten every day. I planted some spiced lettuce this year for the first time to see how it tastes, and I have to tell you it is really tasty. We have been enjoy it a lot. You don’t taste the spice that much and the leaves are mostly like a baby spinach in type. So with that … I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife and will then see what I can get into. That’s the nice thing about slowing down in ones old age. I do what I want … when I want. Take care and stay safe. GW

Good Morning!. It’s another really nice day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is shinning an there is hardly a cloud in the sky. Temperatures were sitting at 14.1 C | 57.38 F. Things will warm up substantially in an hour or so. It will actually be kind of a hot day. But that is what we were waiting for. The Black Flies have pretty well left us and the Mosquitoes are slowing down. This year I fixed the suns-a-guns as I bought an indoor Mosquito Zapper.. I was hesitant in buying one not knowing how they would work … but I have to say it is doing a great job. No more buzzing around my ears while trying to sleep. Ha Ha. Today I will be doing some work around the house here, then this afternoon I will work on a Podcast I have in the works for this Friday. Later on I will do some front porch sittin’ with my lovely wife. Highway 522 is getting busier every day with more folks coming in from the big cities. So knowing that we need to take extra precautions for sure. A lot of folks aren’t wearing a mask or social distancing anymore. Crazy thinking, but then again … they are human. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and then will see what the day has in store. You just never know. LOL Have a great day, stay safe and do what’s right.

Good Morning! Well, it’s another great looking day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is shinning and temperatures are starting to warm up. At the time of this post things were sitting at 10.9 C | 51.62 F. It will warm up quite a bit today and for the remainder of the week. Summer weather has finally arrived. Highway 522 is quiet but will pick up some as the day moves forward. The black Flies are still with us but not as bad. The Mosquitoes are enjoying themselves, feeding on us humans when ever they get at chance. Today I will do some work on a new Podcast for Friday and then will maybe take in some front porch sitting. The grass has slowed down some which makes things easier and the vegetable gardens are looking good. The lettuce this year is fantastic and my wife and I are enjoying it daily. The tomatoes are starting to really grow so should be seeing some tomatoes on them shortly. Not to eat yet but you have to start somewhere LOL. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife and then will let the day unfold around me. Take care and stay safe. GW

Morning Report June 14/2020

Good Morning! It’s another great looking day for us here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is shinning, not to hot and the black-flies and mosquitoes aren’t all that bad either. The winds are coming in from the North East which will keep it on the cool side of things for today, but still very nice. Tomorrow things start to warm up once again. We did have a touch of frost last night in certain parts of our property, but nothing that would cause any damage. I did however cover things up before retiring for the evening as a precaution. I could have probably did without it but better be safe than sorry. Highway 522 is quiet but it is Sunday. The Churches will be back in business soon, but I am hoping folks will still stay at home. Will they? Not likely. This social bubble they are talking about, to me is crazy thinking right now. I feel it will just make things that much worse. They say a limited amount of people will be allowed in your circle LOL Now you have more people that are going, where ever visiting you. Yep that makes sense. Oh well … we will see how it goes. For my wife and I we will continue to stay away from out sons, protecting them and us as parents should be doing, talking on the phone, and from a distance while chatting. At any rate … the powers that be will do what they want’ as always, and people will do what they want too. Be it right or wrong. It’s just human nature. But remember this … the Virus is still there, and if you keep on taking chances … it will find you. Good Luck With That! Take care, stay safe and do what you feel is right … not what others are telling you. Have a great day. GW

Morning Report June 13/2020

Good Morning! Waking up here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada the sun has made an appearance, and if things goes to plan it should remain with us for most of the day and all next week. Over night we did have a wee bit of frost. Thinking we might be going to have some along with my son Karl mentioning it to me on the phone last night, I covered my plants in my vegetable gardens. I am glad I did. Takes a bit of work, but it’s better than loosing everything. Tonight there is a possible chance of some more frost so I am thinking I will cover it one more time just in case. I have to admit in all the 17 Years I have lived where we are now, this is the weirdest spring of them all. But it is to be expected with the earth healing herself. Which is a good thing. That is one good thing that is coming out of this virus. Will people realize this and do more to protect our environment? Not likely. Heck … there are a lot of them out there that won’t protect themselves … or others. And it isn’t just some of the young that are doing this … it is a lot of the older folks too. Being a Senior I have to say that I am ashamed of some of our seniors these days. As they should know better. On another note my wife and I did get our grass cut yesterday, so our property is looking good. The black-flies weren’t all that bad … I never seen hardly a one. The mosquitoes were not so bad either which was nice. They were out there last night though … when I was covering my plants before going to bed. Today I will take it a bit easy, maybe work on another Podcast for next Friday, and if things warm up my wife and I will do some front porch sitting. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and will let the day unfold around me. Take care, stay safe and do ………. what’s right.

Good Morning!. It’s a cloudy morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. And along with that it is a touch cool too with temperatures sitting at 6.3 C | 43.34 F. It won’t warm up much more than it is now. We actually have the oil furnace going this morning to take the dampness and coolness out of the house. Tomorrow however things will start to improve and we should be in for some really nice weather for all of next week with lots of sunshine. Highway 522 is slow this morning and I suspect it will stay that way for most of the day, with the weather being as it is. The Black-flies are still with us but slowing down. The Mosquitoes are another story as they are annoying. They love this damp wet weather. But once the sun returns they should ease off a bit too. The vegetable gardens are thriving since the rain we had. Lettuce is growing leaps and bounds and we are eating it daily. Sure is tasty this year. Today is mowing day for us, so that will keep us out of trouble for the day. Usually takes most the day to complete. The grass is slowing down some comparing it to last week. Which is okay by me. So with that I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife and then get to work. Should be not so bad being a touch cool this morning be good for working. Take care and stay safe.

Morning Report June 11/2020

Good morning!. Weather wise here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada is not looking too good this morning. At the moment we are having light showers, windy conditions and it is quite cool. It will stay this way up till Saturday. Yesterday we had our share of rain and it continued through the night.. Temperatures have dropped down to 10.6 C | 51.08 F. It won’t rise much more than it is now. Highway 522 is slow this morning with the weather keeping people at home. Which is a good thing right at the moment. I would also like to say that is my opinion that we keep our boarders closed for awhile longer yet, as if we do open them things will defiantly turn for the worse. Right now in the USA the virus is spreading like crazy and will continue to do so with all the opening of business’s. I don’t have any problems with them opening, but it should be done in a responsible manner. The next problem is that there are so many people out there now that doesn’t care, and these protesters are making it even worse. Sure it is their right, we all know that … but this isn’t the time. We have enough to worry about, without a bunch of people swarming together spreading this virus further. A Quote for one of the major health experts says: And in fact, the evidence that we have, given the percentage of people, which is about 25 – 45 percent of the totality of infected people, likely are without symptom,” he said. “And we know from epidemiological studies that they can transmit to someone who is uninfected, even when they’re without symptoms.” So that should tell you, that some of these folks that are out there protesting or not social distancing, can and is going to make things a lot worse than they are now. For my wife and I we are putting extra precautions in motion, for us and family, and will continue to do so, in spite of what others are saying. That’s my rant for this morning. LOL I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife and then will see what the day has in store. You just never know. Take care, Stay Safe, and do …… what’s right.

Morning Report June 10/2020

Good Morning. Rainy day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. We are even having a bit of lightning and thunder. We are in need of some rain as my vegetable gardens were getting a bit dry. Saves me watering. I do have my water barrels filling which I have hooked up to my eve-troughs. Seems to work out about right. By the time they are empty we get some more rain to refill things LOL Highway 522 is quiet but as always it is early when I do this post. It does however pick up a lot throughout the day with out-of- townees travelling through and staying at cottages. I don’t really mind truth be told, as long as they do what they are suppose to do. Like keep their distance and take the precautions necessary. Some do …. but a lot doesn’t. Knowing that my wife and I have to take extra safety measures. Not much more a person can do. At any rate since it is raining here quite hard this morning, I will work on a new podcast for Friday. Take care and stay safe. GW

Morning report June 9/2020

Good Morning!. Things are looking mighty nice for us here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada this morning. The sun his burning off the moisture in the air and I have to say with the shadows from the trees laying across the grass it sure looks nice. Makes a fellow want to do nothing but sit and enjoy it. Highway522 is slow this morning as it always is this time of day, but it will pick up as the day moves forward. Temperatures this morning were sitting at 14.9 C | 58.82 F warmer than yesterday morning. We didn’t need the furnace on. It will warm up a lot as the day progresses. On another note I did get a lot of outside work done yesterday. Painted two of my decks and today will paint the two outside doors. Once all said and done should be looking good around here. The black-flies weren’t bad at all yesterday, and the mosquitoes stayed away too. The only place they bothered me was in my shop. They seem to like to get in where it is darker out of the sun. But I did notice a few deer flies making an appearance. Them things are really annoying, as they just don’t let you alone no matter what you do. LOL Joys of summer in the north. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife, and then will get to work. Have a great day and stay safe. The virus hasn’t left us it’s still there as it has been. Don’t let this opening up of business’s and places fool you.

Morning Report June 8/2020

Good Morning! Things were a bit cloudy waking up here in Port Loring Ontario, Canada. It’s not the warmest with temperatures sitting at8.5 C | 47.3 F. It will however warm up and the sun should make an appearance shortly. Highway 522 is quiet as it should be being so early in the morning. The black-flies are still with us, but everyday we see less. Usually they are here from Mothers Day to Fathers Day. The mosquitoes on the other hand are annoying, but if we get some sunshine it will help eliminate a lot of them too. And with the Dragon Flies here now they will help too. On another note my vegetable gardens are starting to take shape, and yesterday we had our first fresh lettuce for supper. That’s nice for sure. This year we planted all different kinds so that we can try something different from time to time. Actually I even planted a half a row of spice lettuce. LOL I am not sure what that will taste like, but we will see in a couple days as it is almost ready to eat. My tomatoes are also looking good, it was touch and go there for a wee bit. Being so cold when I planted them slowed them down some. But they are okay now. Today I will do some things around the house here, maybe work on a story or two for my columns. Then if the sunshine comes out I will venture out to the front porch with my lovely wife, and see how our rocking chairs are holding up. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and will let the day unfold around me. Take care … and stay safe. GW
