Morning Report July 28/2020

Good Morning! Things are looking pretty darn nice here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada weather wise this morning. The sun is upon us without a cloud in the sky. I can’t rightly say that I have seen it so clear as it is this morning. The other good news is that the humidity has left us and temperatures have cooled down. Waking up they were sitting at 19.1 C | 66.38 F. Pretty hard to beat that. Highway 522 is very busy these days which is a norm for this time of year. Yesterday we worked in our cottage most of the day, but then it got so hot in the afternoon I decided to call it a day. Can’t seem to do the work I used to when I was twenty or so. I guess I am getting a wee bit old. My mind says go but my body says no, Whole up there a minute> LOL. Today I will be a bit of a challenge as we have to put the ceiling in, so lifting them 4×8 sheets of plywood up over our heads won’t be the nicest. But I have a plan LOL. So with that I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife. Since it is such a beautiful day we will head on out to the front porch. Seems like the thing to do. Take care and stay safe! Morning Report July 27/2020

Good Morning!. It’s a cloudy morning for us here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. We are also having some light showers. Yesterday was sure a hot one, more so with the Humidity. Which will be with us for most of today. Temperatures waking up were quite warm sitting at 22.3 C | 72.14 F. Tomorrow things should cool down somewhat with a wee bit of sunshine. Highway 522 was quite busy yesterday and I suspect it will be even busier nearing the end of this week. Knowing that, more care should be taken if out and about. Yesterday my wife and I did get a lot of work done inside our store that we are converting into a cottage. Today we will continue on. I have to say though yesterday being so hot wasn’t the nicest for working. Hoping today will be a bit better. On another note our vegetable gardens are growing really good. I might have to remove some Foliage on our Tomatoes, as things are getting a bit crowded. If that continues all we will have is leaves LOL Always something. But I do enjoy working in the gardens. So with that I am off for my morning cup of coffee, but we will have to give up our front porch this morning being that it is raining outside. Dam. LOL Take care, stay safe and double down now on taking care of yourselves, with the Stage 3 of things opening.

Morning Report Jan 26/2020

Good Morning!. Starting things off the weather outside is not too bad. The sun is shinning once again with just a few clouds helping out with the heat. There is a lot of humidity in the air this morning which could bring a thunderstorm to our area later on in the day, tonight and into tomorrow. So if there is something that needs to be done best do it early in the day. Being Sunday Highway 522 is quiet this morning but I suspect it will pick up as the day moves forward. At this point in time with so many people working from home and on vacation Sunday means nothing in the way of slowing them down. Can’t say I blame them as it is in reality, just another day. On another note my wife and I did get some new roof vent installed in our new cottage we are working on. Today we will continue working away. I have to admit it is nice working outdoors for a change. Time is sure flying by though as August is almost upon us. Once into September the cool weather slowly starts to return. Good in some ways but not so good in other ways. I have a feeling this virus will get even worse once the cold weather makes it’s return, especially with opening back up the stores, churches, bars, restaurants and things. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife and will then let the day unfold around me. Take care stay safe and do what’s right. More so look after yourselves.

Morning Report July 25/2020

Good Morning!. It is looking like another really nice day for us here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is shinning without hardly a cloud in the sky. Temperatures are sitting at 18.4 C | 65.12 F. This is the weather I enjoy. Highway 522 is busy these days, which is becoming a norm. It will likely remain this way for the remainder of the summer. I also see and hear that thousands of people are selling their homes in and around the large cities and moving to the country. I suspect it is the fear that this virus has more of a chance to get to them. I can’t say I blame them. Actually I think they are smart. Prices of homes say in our area and surrounding areas have always been on the low side, but now they are rising fast and I think they will continue to rise in price as time moves forward. I also think that people now are finding out that city life isn’t the place to be. Where there isn’t as many people is the place to be. On another note my veggie gardens are growing leaps and bounds and my wife is getting ready to do up some relish and sweet pickles for winter. Should be tasty. While she is doing that, I am going to be working in our store, as we are re-modifying it from a store to a cottage. We will still have a store, but in a different location on our property. But not this year, as we are keeping it closed. We might be closed to people coming in to see the store right now, but my wife is taking orders for signs and her paintings. Actually she has been quite busy this year with folks wanting her paintings and things. Nice to see. Also it is nice to see … that a few here in town are supporting us with our store being closed. Means a lot and helps a lot. The reason we are keeping the store itself closed is that it is small and there is no way we can do social distancing properly. Also we sell a lot of flutes and they need to be played and right now I don’t want anyone blowing into them. Not a good idea. But in saying that I still sell them out of the house but you can’t play them until you own them. I should also mention that if you want a flute, custom sign or a painting you can get in touch with us at [email protected] Or if in the area drop by and we can chat from a distance LOL. So with that, I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife on the front porch, and will then get to work. Take care and stay safe. GW

Morning Report July 24/2020

Good Morning!. Things looks like it is shaping up for a really nice day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is showing off with only a few clouds in the sky. Temperatures are about perfect sitting at 14.8 C | 58.64 F. It will warm up as the day progresses. Highway 522 is busy these days with lots of campers and things moving through our area. The LCBO is lined up with Trucks, Campers, Cars and even Riding Lawn Mowers these days. Only in Port Loring. Where there is a will there is a way. LOL Today my lovely wife and I will do a bit of mowing around the house here, and then take things a bit easy this afternoon. Yesterday we went to town to pick up our groceries which we enjoy. Gets us out of the house for a day. We did notice that a lot of folks this time going in and out of stores were wearing masks. Which is a good thing. They weren’t doing as much social distancing as they used to be doing though, which isn’t a bad thing. So hoping they come to their senses in the near future. We then picked up our groceries, visited our son in the parking lot for a bit, picked up our computer that our son fixed, ate our lunch in our car while chatting on the phone to our other son, and came on home. Great day. With that, I am off to the front porch for my morning cup of coffee and take in what Nature has to offer. Great time to be outside, weather is good and no bugs. What can be better than that! Take care, stay safe and “DO WHAT”S RIGHT!!

Morning Report July 22/2020

Good Morning! It’s a cloudy morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The clouds will remain with us for most of the day with some showers or a thunderstorm thrown in for good measure. Temperatures have cooled down a lot which makes things a lot nicer. Waking up they were sitting at 17.1 C | 62.78 F. Things will warm up a wee bit as the day moves forward. Highway 522 was busy once again yesterday, with campers and you name it moving in and around our area. As I have been saying, if people keep doing what they are doing, by not wearing a mask, going to parties, not social distancing and things like that, it is going to get a lot worse. It’s already started. I am not sure what these people are thinking, other than they think they are invincible. Trouble arises though when these people think this way, as they might not get it to where they are really sick, but they give it to others. What we need now is using common sense, but it seems to me a lot are lacking it. We need to hang in there for just a little longer, as we are so close to getting some help. Anyways … that is my rant for this morning LOL. Today I will do some inside work as it looks like rain. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife. Take care, stay safe and do what’s right?

Morning Report July 21/2020

Good Morning! It’s another great looking day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is shinning with just a few clouds in the sky. What could be better than that. Even the heat has left us. Waking up temperatures were sitting at 12.7 C | 54.86 F. Kind of nice for a change. It will warm up a wee bit as the day moves forward. But not to where it was before. This is my kind of weather. Not to hot, some sun and a few clouds with temperatures at the point you can open all your windows and let in some fresh air. And on top of that, hardly any of them blood sucking parasites to annoy ya. Highway 522 is quiet this morning, but it is early. Yesterday the highway was really busy with trucks, cars, campers, pick ups with ATV’s, and boats on the back, along with some that I have to scratch my head figuring out. Motorcycles galore, with even lawnmowers running up and down the highway. I even seen one riding lawn mower with a case of beer on the hood. Only in Port Loring. LOL Today I will do a bit of work in my shop, then finish up another Podcast I started yesterday. Oh and of course some front porch sittin’ is in order too. Too nice outside to be inside. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife on the front porch. Take care, stay safe an do what’s right. I don’t have to tell you what’s right. Do I? LOL

Good Morning! Weather wise things are looking pretty good for the next few days. Waking up it isn’t as warm and the sun is showing off. The winds are light and I suspect it will be a really nice day. We could possibly see a passing shower here or there, but nothing like what we had yesterday. The wind and heavy rain yesterday sure played havoc with my vegetable garden, knocking down my corn and tomatoes. I will see if I can ease them back into place in a bit. I would have to say yesterdays storm was about the worst I seen it here in the past fifteen years. It kind of makes me think our planet is changing. Highway 522 was very busy yesterday and I am sure it will be quite busy today too. But the good news is, with this rain we just had, things are sure looking healthy and green. Today I will be working on another Podcast for Friday, along with some front porch sitting with my lovely wife. We have to take advantage of these nice days when we can sit outside, as summer is moving along. So with that … I am off for my morning cup of coffee. Take care, stay safe and do what’s right.

Morning Report July 19/2020

Good Morning! It’s a cloudy, humid day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. We did have some rain through the night, and it will continue off and on for most of the day. We could have some severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 22.9 C | 73.22 F. So with that in mind, my wife and I will be doing some inside work. Which is okay with us, as we both have lots of things on the go. Highway 522 is slow this morning, but it is early and Sunday. Yesterday there was non stop traffic. I am not sure where they are all going, but one thing is for certain, they are out and about. Is it a good thing? Time will tell. Other than that, not much more to tell here this morning, so will head on off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife. Take care, stay safe and do what’s right. GW

Morning Report July 18/2020

Good Morning! It is looking like another really nice day is upon us here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is shinning with temperatures sitting at 18.5 C | 65.3 F. We could see a thunderstorm later on this afternoon and into tomorrow. So … if you have things to do, it might pay to get them done this morning. Highway 522 is busy these days with lots of campers and things coming in and through our area. It is nice to see folks enjoying themselves, and I am alright with them doing what they are doing … as long as they do what is right, like wearing a mask, distancing and things like that. But a lot aren’t. That’s the not so good part. On another note my lovely wife and I did manage to get the grass cut yesterday so things are looking good around our home. We even had some time to do some front porch sittin’ which we will do once again today, until the rain starts. I have to say right now this is about as good as it gets, weather wise for our area. Mosquitoes and Black-flies are pretty well all gone. But there are some pesky deer and horse flies here and there. They can bite let me tell ya, and the worst part of them suckers is, they don’t leave you alone. But not much you can do about that. I also had a look at my cucumbers and Zucchini yesterday, and I am thinking there is one of each ready to eat, which we will have for lunch today. Lots more are about ready. Also our lettuce is growing leaps and bounds, but I will soon have to remove some kinds and plant new. Man it is the middle of July already. Time sure moves by fast these days. Morning report July 17/2020

Good Morning! Looking outside a nice day is about to be upon us. Temperatures will get hot though, as the day progresses. Waking up they were sitting at 17.7 C | 63.86 F. Highway 522 is quiet this morning, but it is early. Yesterday my wife and I went to North Bay to pick up a few things we ordered, visited our son in the parking lot, had lunch in our car and enjoyed the trip home. We did have a wee bit of rain on the way in, but for most parts, it was a good trip all way round. We did notice a lot more folks wearing masks, which is a good thing. Around our area, there are a few wearing them including us if out and about, but a lot aren’t. Now as we are entering Stage 3 everyone thinks things are almost back to normal. That is the furthest thing from the truth, as this virus is as every bit as bad as it was a few months ago. It’s patient and the folks that think they are invincible, I am afraid will learn a hard lesson. My opinion only of course. On another note the gardens are still growing leaps and bounds. I have to say, they never looked so good. I would suspect with all the lock-downs the air is much cleaner and the rains are more nourishing. Today my lovely wife and I will do some mowing once the grass dries a wee bit. Then maybe we will do some front porch sitting and relax. With that take care of yourselves and have a great day. GW

We should see a bit of sunshine as the day progresses. Temperatures were sitting at18.9 C | 66.02 F. Highway 522 is quite busy these days with folks moving around. Interesting in part. On another note my lovely wife and I did manage to install a new cover over my lean-too where I keep my firewood yesterday. Took most the morning, but it should last for around five years or so. “Thanks to my fishing buddy Barry’ who got the new cover for me and dropped it off the other day. Good Morning! It’s another cloudy morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 15.7 C | 60.26 F. With the winds coming from the NNW. We could see a wee bit of sunshine later on along with a shower or two. Things will start to warm up once again as the week progresses. Highway 522 is busy these days with folks coming into our area, and yes a lot are moving around without wearing a mask or distancing themselves from others. Right now I would recommend that a mask should be worn at all times when out and about. Reason being, that this virus could have mutated to a more contagious form. It’s not proven yet, but it’s not looking good. With the opening up of things I wouldn’t hesitate to say that in a few weeks we will be seeing more people becoming infected. I hope I am wrong. At any rate, I feel we need to be more vigilant in protecting ourselves and others in the coming days, which won’t stop the virus, but it will slow things down. Every day we are finding more ways of treating it, and given enough time, we should be in position at the very least be able to help those that gets sick. We just need to do what is necessary to hold it back for a bit longer. Hard to do when some folks aren’t listening. But a lot are which is fantastic. With that, I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife, and then will see what the day has in store. You never know, as life is a mystery.

To start things off this morning we all woke up to clouds. But they will start to clear out of our area in awhile and we should see some sunshine later on today. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 17.9 C | 64.22 F. Temperatures and weather should be pretty good for the next few weeks now with the odd real warm day, but nothing like we have had it. Highway 522 is slow this morning but it is Sunday. On another note my gardens and things did get a much needed drink over the past two days which will help a lot. My tomatoes, pumpkins, zucchini and cucumbers are all out in blossom, with a few small ones starting to take shape. Won’t be long and we will be enjoying them with our meals. It sure is nice having a garden. Today I will work away on a Podcast I have in the works, and enjoy the day as it is given. Good Morning! Finally we are having a reprieve from this heat here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada.. Waking up it is still quite humid with some showers. It will continue what it is doing now for most the day. We could even see a thunderstorm here and there as the day progresses. Tomorrow we will get back to some sunshine. Highway 522 is slow this morning, but it will pick up as the day progresses. On another note yesterday in-spite of the heat, I did manage to get my grass cut around the house. Took a bit of doing but it’s done for another week. After that I kind of took it easy. My fishing buddy Barry dropped by for a visit, and we had a cool drink while sitting in the shade. From a distance. LOL So all and all a pretty good day. Today being that it is raining, I will work away here on another podcast for next Friday. With that take care, and stay safe. GW

Morning report July 9/2020

Good Morning! It looks like another warm one today here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is shinning once again without a cloud in the sky. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 20.9 C | 69.62 F. But it’s early. Things will get hot in a couple hours. The weekend should be much cooler which will make things nice for folks to do some outside work for a change. Looking forward to that. Highway 522 is a wee bit busy but slowing down a bit. I think some people understand that moving around isn’t the best thing to do at this time. Which is a good thing. Just because the government is slowly opening things up, doesn’t mean the virus is gone. It’s still there as strong as ever, maybe even stronger. But in saying that, it does amaze me that so many believe that things can go back to the way it was. Those are the ones I am naming the invisible ones LOL. Or so they think. Today I will do a bit of watering in my vegetable garden, as a few plants are drooping a wee bit. But in-spite of all the heat the plants are looking really good. My tomatoes are loaded this year, with blossoms, so I am thinking we should have a fantastic crop. I also notice our cucumbers out in blossom too and the zucchini is almost ready to blossom. So ya … no complaint in the vegetable end of things. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee on the front porch with my lovely wife, and then will see what develops. One never knows. Take care, stay safe and do what’s right. GW

morning Report July 8/2020

So how you all doing today? Good I hope. By the looks of things it is going to be another scorcher temperature wise, here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. And it will get even hotter tomorrow. So I would think it would be a good thing to find a cool spot for the next few days and relax. It doesn’t take much work to sap your energy with these temperatures. Waking up this morning temperatures were on the rise already sitting at 22 C | 71.6 F at the time of this post. The good part of this heat is that the grass has sure slowed down, which makes mowing day a lot better. Not that I mind mowing really, as it is nice to be outside getting fresh air and some exercise. Crazy year for sure. First the virus and then no end to the cold damp weather, then black-flies along with mosquitoes, and now this heat. We might live in the north, were everyone likes to visit, but it’s a challenge living here this year. But as I say, we are in the north and where anything and everything can happen. Highway 522 is still busy these days. We have been busy or should say my wife has been busy. We don’t have our store open this year because of the virus, but we are taking custom sign painting, or other painting orders … from a distance. Actually … this is the busiest year my wife has had. Locals along with out of town-ers are wanting her to do some paintings. Which helps us out a lot. So with that I am off for my morning cup of coffee once again with my lovely wife, and will then see what the day has in store. I defiantly will have to do some watering that’s for sure. Take care, stay safe, and do what’s right. GW

Morning Report July 7/2020

Good Morning! Today will be much the same as yesterday, but hotter. Hot muggy weather will be upon us for the next two weeks. I have noticed though that if your in the shade it isn’t all that bad. Actually it is quite nice. So knowing that our lawn chairs are set out in the shade. LOL. Highway 522 is very busy these days with folks moving through our area. Lot of folks from Toronto are in our area, so distancing yourselves from others is now more important than ever. Also wearing a mask would be a great asset. “Going to ‘church’, congregating in groups, going into stores when it isn’t necessary, isn’t a good thing. Doing this you are putting yourself in jeopardy along with others!!” Today I will pull some weeds in my vegetable garden until it gets hot. Then I have some work to do in the woodworking shop and after lunch I will get back to working on my Podcast for Friday. So … lots to do. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee on the front porch with my lovely wife, and then will see what develops. I make plans but sometimes the results doesn’t go as planned. LOL Take care, stay safe and do what’s right. GW

Good Morning! The good news is we did have a wee bit of rain yesterday which helped the plants a lot. Not enough but some is better than nothing. It will get even hotter nearing the weekend. Crazy weather for sure. I suspect we will see a lot of changes in the near future with the way the poles are shifting and things like that. I got a notion that this virus isn’t the only thing that we humans have to deal with. But I suspect we will get through it somehow. Maybe. Highway 522 is quiet this morning but it will pick up. It was really busy yesterday as there was an accident on Highway 69 and traffic was detoured through out town for a few hours. On another note the black flies and mosquitoes have eased off with this heat, which is nice. But now it is to hot to do any physical work outside for any length of time. The vegetable gardens are growing leaps and bounds and I noticed that our tomato plants are now out in blossom, which means we will be having fresh tomato sandwiches in a month or so. I have to admit I sure enjoy home grown tomatoes. Our lettuce is slowly dying off so in a couple weeks when it cools down some, I will plant some more. But we can’t complain as we have had some good eating so far. We still do have lots of romaine lettuce it seems to be able to tolerate the heat more than the leaf lettuce. So with that I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife and then maybe enjoy some front porch sitting before it gets to warm. Then I will work on another Podcast for Friday. Take care, stay safe and do what’s right. GW
