George’s Daily Post Nov. 22/2015

Good Morning:  Well snow made its appearance yesterday and through the night.   Looks like a winter wonderland out their waking up.  Temperatures were sitting at -3.7 C | 25.34 F.  Will warm up a touch later on.  Today’s forecast is saying it will be a touch unsettled but improving as the day moves forward.  We are having some light flurries as I type.

Body Pain, Flu’s & Colds Related To Weather:  Today the weather will neither help nor hinder any of the above.  Which in some ways is a good thing.

Snow Report:  This morning waking up we have around 6 – 8 inches of the white stuff.  Winter in Port Loring has arrived.

Highway Report:  Highway 522 is snow covered for most parts but the snowplough has been through a few times over night.  Travelling will be touch and go today till things get melted off.  If out and about care should be taken.

Hunting Information:  Be it Bow or Camera today the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 7:30 AM – 10:30 AM.  Then once again from 3:30 PM  – 7:00 PM.  I give it a 2 Buck Rating our of 5 for seeing a few.   Not the greatest day for hunting.  Good Luck though!

Around Town: Well this morning most folks will be cleaning out their driveways.  I also will have to get to cleaning as we have a bit of travelling to do.  So had better get moving.  Have a great day and stay safe.  Make it a great day.   Only you can do that.

George’s Daily Post Nov. 21/2015

Good Morning: Cloudy morning here in Port Loring.  Got a storm front moving into our area this afternoon, 5 cm are expected by early evening with another 10 to 15 cm tonight. The snow will taper off on Sunday.  I hope so.  I like snow but I don’t like a whole mess of it. But we do live in the snow belt.  If anyone gets it we do.  Also could see some high winds associated with the storm.

Pain, Colds & Flu’s Related To Weather:   Today the weather will protect us from colds and flu’s.  For aches and pains it will do nothing, neither hinder nor help.  Kind of just going to sit there and let things happen.

Highway Report: As of 9:30 AM, Highway 522 is bare and dry.  That will change as the day moves forward.  Travelling will be good this morning deteriorating this afternoon.  So care should be taken if out and about.  Tomorrow will be a better day, I hope.

Snow Report:  Nothing to speak of at the moment.

Hunting Information;  For those that want to do some scouting with a camera or a Bow the best times to be out there will be from 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM.  A fair day for hunting.  I give it a 3 out of 5 Buck Rating for seeing a few.  Good Luck!

Around Town: Not too much happening in and around our small community.  We did head on into North Bay yesterday and most stores were doing a brisk business.  Good to see.  Our son Karl took us for supper at the Montana’s 1899 Algonquin Ave, North Bay, ON P1B 4Y8
Phone:(705) 840-2087.  New place that opened up in the Bay and I have to say it was excellent.  We all ordered something different and all was really tasty.  Prices weren’t all that bad either.  I don’t mind paying a bit more if things are good.  Also the waitress’s were kind and helpful.  So on a score of 1 to 10 I would give it a 8 as of now.  Why only a 8.  Simple, nothing is perfect in life and they still have to do some fixing up on the inside here and their.  All and all no complaints.  With that heading off for my morning tea.  Dandelion this morning.  Good for all kinds of things.  Enjoy your day an stay safe.

George’s Daily Post For Nov. 20/2015

Good Morning:  Cloudy morning waking up here in Port Loring Ontario.  Also got a few flurries taking place.  Still a bit to warm for it to stay, but it is a sign of what’s to come.  Temperatures were sitting at 1.3 C | 34.34 F.  Won’t warm up much more than that.  Could see a bit of sunshine off and on.  Tomorrow though we could see some accumulation of snow for the first time, as there is a system going through our area that has some white stuff tied to it.

Pain, Colds & Flu Related To Weather:  Today the weather won’t help or will it hinder.  It’s just going to set there and let things look after their-selves.   Kind of different in some respects.

Road Report:  Highway 522 is wet with a bit of ice forming in certain areas.  Travelling will still be good but care should be taken.

Hunting Information:  Today isn’t the greatest day for hunting. Be it camera or Bow.  I give it a 2 Buck rating out of 5 for seeing a few.  Good Luck and stay safe.  Especially if out there alone.

Snow Report; We are having some flurries as I stated above.  They will become more pronounced as the temperatures drop through the night and into tomorrow.   Colder weather is moving into our area.

Around Town:  Not to much to report here on this fine Friday morning.  Most folks are looking forward to the weekend which is the way folks has been programmed over the years by our Powers To Be.   Amazing how some believe everything that these so called Powers say is correct.  I myself listen but go my own way.  I know about their deviousness and won’t be subjected to what they are trying to say or do.  Something to think about my friends.  With that tea time here Chaga mixed with a touch of Dandelion is on the menu this morning.  Great drink to increase appetite and strength, physically and mentally.  Enjoy your day!

Forecast For Today: Showery early, improving as the day moves forward.  Should see some sunshine later on and into tomorrow.  Things will warm up later on this morning.

Bug Report:  Mosquitoes are annoying folks the most these days.  Few black flies and deer flies as well.  We need some dry days with sunshine to slow them down.

Highway Report:  Highway 522 is bare and wet this morning.  Travelling will be good.

Fishing Report: This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best time to be out there will be from 7:30 AM – 10:30 AM.  Then once again from 3:00 PM – 6:30 PM.  I give it a 2 fish rating out of 5 for catching a few this morning and a 4 fish rating for catching a few this afternoon.  Good Luck.

Around Town: Quiet is the word at the moment.  Things will change in the coming days with the summer holidays for the children entering into the picture.  Vegetable gardens are growing great these days with tomato plants and others showing now what they can do.  Lots of fresh lettuce is on our plates every day.   I did pick up a few more herbs yesterday while we were away.  Got some good deals on them too being so late in the season.  Still, there is lots of time for them to get growing so don’t hesitate if you come upon a few that you haven’t got.  Tea time here.  English Breakfast with a touch of violet pedals.  Good for what ails you along with tasting great.   Have a great day and stay safe.

Forecast For Today: Cloudy with rain off and on throughout the day.

Snow Report: No Snow overnight.

Highway Report:  Highway 522 is bare and dry.  Should be no problem for those that want to travel.

Around Town:  Things are quiet these days.  When the sun is upon us folks are out and about though. Which is a good thing.  Our bird feeder is being visited by all different kinds these days, with their migration north in full swing.  Great so see, and they are so entertaining to watch.  The grass is slowly being uncovered from its winters rest and in some places even turning green in colour.  Some spring flowers are starting to push through the hard soil where the sun meets up with them, giving what is needed for growth in the coming days.  Nature is something to watch and take in, even in its smallest occurrences.  Most pass it by, which is a shame.  I am off for a cup of tea and then will see what the day has planned for me. Watching the Masters Golf will be my priority for the next four days starting this afternoon.  The beauty that course holds is something in itself. If you get a chance and are able to get it on your TV take a look.  Enjoy your day and stay safe.  You can reach me if you so wish at [email protected]

Highway Report:  Highway 522 is snow covered with some icy sections throughout.  Not a good day for travelling.  I would recommend staying home if possible.

Snow Report:  No snow accumulations over night.  It is coming down quite rapidly though this morning.  Blowing snow makes things worse which it is doing at this time.  Winter wonderland out there today.

Ice Fishing Times:  I hear the ice huts are being taken off the lakes in Nippising as the ice is melting quite rapidly these days.  I would think we should follow their example.  Its not worth some one getting hurt for the sake of a few fish.  There will be plenty of time for fishing sitting in a boat.in the near future.  Tomorrow will be the last day for the Ice Fishing Times for this season.  Today though the old weather stick is saying that the best time to be out there will be from 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM.  Then again from 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM. I give it a 5 fish rating out of 5 for catching a few.  If unsure of the ice thickness stay off it.  Good luck and stay safe.

Forecast For Today:  Some sunshine along with some clouds.  Later on we will have some mixed precipitation coming our way.  Could be snow, could be rain could be freezing rain.  This will continue through the night and into tomorrow.

Around Town:  I see in the news the wind farm has been stopped in Mattawa.  My own personal opinion is that it’s for the best.  I can’t see our money, taxpayers money, being paid out for something that costs us money.  Not to forget the effects it would have had on Nature. There are a lot better avenues out there where our money should be going.  That’s the problem today, so much waste. Big ideas never being thought out.  As I say, my opinion only.  So with that it’s tea time here.  Corn Silk tea is my choice this morning.  Great for bringing on happiness, strength and contentment.   In reality what more could a person ask for?  Enjoy your day.  You can reach me at [email protected]

Around Town:  Few cars moving up and down the highway this morning.  Good to see folks out and about for a change.  Warm weather and sunshine has a way of bringing out the best in people.  For most any-ways.

Tea time here.  Rose petals are steeping as I type.

Recipe;

2 tbs of rose petals
1 cup of water
Drop petals in hot water and let steep for 10 minutes
Strain and drink.
Organic Sweetener can be added for taste. (No White Sugar) Why? Depletes all the goodness that is in the petals.

This tea helps with numerous health related problems. It also helps with restoring the skin back to what it was in your teens.   On top of that it tastes good too.  What could be better.  Remember though never use the petals from roses that have been sprayed with chemicals of any kind.  Most store bought roses and garden roses have been sprayed with something.  Do not use.   I only recommend wild roses in good locations. Enjoy your day.  You can reach me George Walters at gw@keepingnote

Forecast For Today:  Could see a few inches of snow this morning, tonight and into tomorrow.  But it will be short lived with warmer weather moving in for  next week.  Could even get up to 10 C / 50 F next week for a few days.  That should take away a lot of the snow that has accumulated over the winter.

Snow Report:  No snow accumulations over night.

Highway Report:  As of now Highway 522 is pretty well bare and dry throughout.  Travelling should be pretty good for part of the day.  Could deteriorate depending on how much snow hits our area.  As I say it will be short lived.

Around Town:  Yesterday my wife and I managed to get the driveway cleaned out.  Took some doing as the wind I guess caused it to drift in quite deep in some spots.  But it got done and we didn’t need any more exercise for the remainder of the day.  Today will stay in looking out being so cold.  Great to have a warm house, along with lots to keep ones mind active.  The main thing in life is to have something to look forward to each morning which we do.  Also one shouldn’t let other folks bother them.  When some one plays on my nerves I just smile and walk away and forget about them, as in reality they don’t mean anything to me.  My grandfather had a good saying which I have used many times throughout my life.  Here it is.  Why should the way I feel be dependent on what you think?  Have to say I have used it many times over the years with good results.  You can reach George Walters at [email protected]

Forecast For Today: Unsettled, probably improving as the day progresses. It will become quite cold tonight and into tomorrow.

Snow Report:  Over night we had around 2 inches. With the winds we had yesterday there is some drifting in certain areas.

Around Town:  Quiet and not much happening in and around our District.  This morning it looks like our driveway needs to be cleaned once again.  Seems to be the trend these days.  But it does give one the exercise they need to stay fit.  Coming in from the cold the wood heat immediately makes you feel warm all over.  Nothing can beat it when it comes to getting warm. For most of my life I have heated with wood and will continue to do so till, well, lets not think on them lines.  This year I had a whole house humidifier installed onto my wood furnace and what a difference.  One now can keep a smaller fire going as with the humidity in the air you feel just that much warmer.  So often I see homes with out it and folks complaining about being cold.  With all forced air furnaces I would say in this country it is a must.  It is also very healthy for you relieving all kinds of conditions that can irritate a person.  So think on that for a bit and if you can wrangle it through your financial situation get it done.  You will enjoy winter just that much more.  What you safe on your heating fuel will more than pay for it.  Oh just make sure it is installed properly.  Very important.  Tea time here, Chaga is on the menu with a touch of chicory.  Good for what ails a person along with giving one the energy they need to enjoy their day.  You can reach George Walters at [email protected]

About all one can do on days like this, as it is just to cold to be outside doing anything.  But it is nice and warm in this old house of ours. New wood furnace we had installed last fall is working like a charm.  Have to say it is one of the best investments I have I made over the years.  So guess that is about it for this morning.  Dress warm if out and about and enjoy your day.  It’s all what you make it. Around Town:  For myself our driveway is in need of cleaning. But thinking should wait till tomorrow with more snow coming.  Also being so cold makes a feller kind of want to stay inside where it’s warm.  So have a great day, and if you are going outside keep your face covered with a scarf till your lungs gets adjusted to the cold temperatures.  Don’t need anyone getting sick. And wear a hat!!! You can reach George Walters at [email protected]

Around Town:  Well our Winterfest is in the works starting today.   Scroll down to one of my former posts for all the times and information of what is taking place.  Should make for a fun weekend.  Yesterday we took a drive to North Bay to visit our son Karl.  Also picked up some groceries and things which we were in need of.  Had a great time and a nice meal out too.  Good to get away now and then.   I have noticed over the past few months more organic items are becoming more popular. Which is fantastic. The more that folks buy in Organic, the cheaper they will become. For years the Powers that be said that the world is growing so fast they couldn’t do with out all the chemicals or GMO that they use on and in our veggies and things. It was a necessity. Well that is now proven to be not true. Being a farmer I have fought most my life to eliminate all the pesticides and things as my father before me. I am not blaming these folks as in reality they just didn’t know any better. With the new generation now coming into the picture things have been changing and will change even more. Reason being is that they, the younger ones can’t be fooled. They know what is going on and now they are demanding things change to a more healthy state. Which is a great thing. So again remember, this is my opinion only.  In Closing, I Would Like To Wish You Well.  You can reach George Walters at; [email protected]
