Good Morning:  Hope all had a great Fathers Day Weekend. My wife and I had a busy weekend with our small store. Folks from all over stopped by purchasing flutes, my lovely wife’s paintings and our books. Shaping up to be a great summer. On another note the vegetable garden is doing real well this year in spite of the heat we been having. I managed to get it hoed up along with hilling the tomatoes, potatoes and celery. Main thing in this heat is water. Enjoy Your Day!

Words Of Wisdom: Everyone who is successful must have dreamed of something.

Weather Forecast: Could see a thunderstorm in certain areas or a shower. Which we need as things are pretty dry. We will also see some sunshine too. It will also remain quite warm today but cooler than the past few days. Tomorrow things will start to cool down even more.

Rain Accumulations:  No Rain Overnight.

Bug Report: Most of the black flies for this year has left us. Mosquitoes are now annoying folks in the evening hours, in buildings or near the water, with a few horse and deer flies through the day.

Fishing Report:  Today the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 12:07 PM – 3:07 PM. I give it a 5 fish rating out of 5 for catching a few. Good Luck!

Highway Report:  Highway 522 is bare and dry.  Great day to do some traveling.

Notice Of Annual Meeting.  Also they will be there will be talk on Proxy Voting.  What does that mean?  Here is the definition.  Make sure you know what is taking place folks.

Proxy voting is a form of voting whereby some members of a decision-making body may delegate their voting power to other members of the same body to vote in their absence, and/or to select additional representatives. A person so designated is called a “proxy” and the person designating him or her is called a “principal”. Proxy appointments can be used to form a voting bloc that can exercise greater influence in deliberations or negotiations.

Good Morning:  Been quite busy around the old house here the past week or so. So busy I haven’t had time to be sitting in front of this screen. Seems lots has to be done come spring getting ready for tourists along with caring for our gardens and things. Great time of year though with no complaints.  Also our small store has had a steady stream of customers so far this year picking up items of choice. Health is good, sun is looking down and warm temperatures are heading our way. Thinking some front porch sittin’ is in order. Enjoy your day.

Weather Forecast: Cloudy and warmer with a bit of sunshine. Will see more sun with warmer temperatures tomorrow.

Rain Accumulations:  No Rain Overnight.

Bug Report: Black Flies are pretty well gone for most areas. Mosquitoes are now entering into the picture which will stay with us till fall.

Fishing Report:  Today the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 7:29 AM – 10:29 AM. Then once again, later from 1:33 PM – 3:33 PM. I give it a 3 fish rating out of 5 for catching a few. Good Luck!

French’s to open new Canadian plant

This is also good news for all my farmer friends that are still growing tomatoes.  How this all came about is that some of the people here in Canada took a notion to stand up for what is right. We do have the power to change things, just most choose to sit back and do nothing.

French’s says all the ketchup it sells in Canada will now be bottled here as well as being made from local tomatoes.

The U-S-based company has partnered with Toronto’s Select Food Products to build a new manufacturing plant that’s expected to be up and running early next year.

It is also expanding its partnership with Highbury Canco, which sources and packages the tomatoes used in French’s Canadian ketchup at its facility in Leamington.

French’s ketchup has soared in popularity in Canada after its competitor, Heinz, closed its Leamington plant and put about 750 people out of work.

Salt Is Good For You

I have been saying this for years that salt is a good thing in ones diet not a bad thing.  As our body needs salt to survive.  Years ago we used to have salt tablet dispensers in the work place for those that worked hard.  Reason being that when one sweats he looses salt at a drastic rate. Loosing salt one gets weak and opens up the door for other problems.  I will say this though that one should eat only good raw salt not the white salt that most find in the stores today.  Pink Sea Salt is a good choice. When bought it is moist and needs to be dried and ground.  Here is the article that came out today.

Headlines declared the news this week that low-sodium diets don’t benefit health. The stories were based on a new study in the Lancet that concluded cutting back on sodium doesn’t improve health for most and that it may, in fact, increase the risk of cardiovascular problems. The findings run counter to messages repeated for years by groups like the World Health Organization and the Heart and Stroke Foundation: that the vast majority of us consume too much sodium and it’s contributing to high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke and other health problems. They also highlight an increasingly contentious battle between the health experts who advocate for sodium reduction and the small but vocal group of researchers who say big decreases aren’t a good idea.

Good Morning:  Cloudy morning here waking up in Port Loring Ontario.  On another note I did manage to get the vegetable gardens planted for another year.  Sure is nice to see all done up.  I get more pleasure working in the garden than one could imagine. Relaxes me.  My garlic this year is doing well, over a foot tall already.  Will be a great year for gardens I am thinking, that is if you have a good source of water for irrigation.  As I do think we could have a very dry warm summer.  Hoping not too warm.  With that enjoy your day, make it a good day.  Only you can make it happen.

Weather Forecast:  Cloudy starting off, then the sun will break through with warmer temperatures.    Weather Station Home:

Rain Accumulations:  We had 70 mm of rain yesterday and through the night.  Just in time for those that have planted their gardens.  Couldn’t be better.

Bug Report:  Black Flies are annoying now and will remain with us for a few weeks. Mosquitoes are just starting.

Fishing Report:  Today the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 9:56 AM – 11:56 AM.  Then once again, later from 4:44 PM – 7:44 PM.  I give it a 3 fish rating out of 5 for catching a few.  Good Luck!

Highway Report:  Highway 522 is bare and dry.  Traveling will be good today. Wife and I took a trip to Mattawa on Wednesday and seen a car hit a moose on Highway 11 just before North Bay.  Not a pretty sight.  Care should be taken as the black flies puts these critters into a disoriented state this time of year.

Information For Port Loring Ontario May 20/2016

Good Morning:  Nice looking day is taking place here in Port Loring Ontario. Other than the black-flies. But one can put up with them if a bit of care is taken. My wife and I have been really busy these past few days cleaning out the under brush in our bushes around the house. Also took down quite a few dead pines. Been bothering us some for the past few years. But finished up yesterday and I have to say it sure looks nice now. Shows just how beautiful our property really is. Also will be better come summer as the cool breezes from under the red pines will be able to reach our house. On another note today is the day if your interested, to read the Hydro Meter here in Port Loring. We do it every month as nothing bothers me more than to get an estimated bill. Reason being if you don’t read it, one month is estimated usually low, then the following month is high which of course puts you into a higher bracket and costs you a lot more.  So solution, read the meter and call it in. Also you can ask as we did for the dates to call it in every month.  With that will head on out to the front porch and admire all our hard work that has taken place over the past couple weeks. Enjoy your day.

Weather Forecast: Waking up temperatures were sitting at 8 C | 46.4 F. Very nice and warmer with sunshine and a few clouds.    Weather Station Home:

Bug Report: Black Flies are annoying now and will remain with us for a few weeks. Mosquitoes haven’t entered into the picture as of yet. Okay by me.

Fishing Report:  Today the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 6:38 PM – 8:38 PM. Might hook on a few nice ones this morning from 8:00 AM – 11.00 AM.  I give it a 3 fish rating out of 5 for catching a few. Good Luck!

Good Morning:  A few clouds this morning but looking like a nice day. Almost time to think about planting the veggie garden.  Will head off to town on the weekend and see what is available this year.  Hard to find good quality plants these days, especially up here in the North. With that I am heading off outside to do some mowing.  Busy time for my wife and I but we are enjoying life to the fullest.  Could say every day is full of new beginnings.  Enjoy your day.

Weather Forecast:  Waking up temperatures were sitting at 10.9 C | 51.62 F. Today a few clouds and sunshine with a possible shower.    Weather Station Home:

Rain Accumulations:  No Rain overnight.

Bug Report:  Black Flies are with us now. Was a challenge working outside yesterday.  No mosquitoes as of yet but with the warmer temperatures heading our way they will make their appearance shortly.

Fishing Report:  Today the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 5:40 PM – 7:40 PM. I give it a 4 fish rating out of 5 for catching a few.  Great day to do some fishing if you don’t mind swatting black-flies.  Good Luck!

Highway Report:  Highway 522 is bare and dry  Traveling will be just perfect. No reason to sit around the house this afternoon, unless some front porch sitting is on your mind, soaking up some sunshine with maybe a Budweiser or two. Decisions decisions.
