It’s another cloudy morning here in Northern Ontario, Canada. But the good news is it isn’t as cold as it was yesterday, with the temperature getting out of bed sitting at -7.4 C | 18.68 F. We didn’t have any snow overnight. However, later on today, we could see a mixed bag of things, like rain, freezing rain or some wet snow. Highway 522 is bare for most parts this morning.

On another note, we noticed the crows were back, as we had them come visit us the day before yesterday. Seems two of them comes every spring, stays the summer and raises usually 4 young ones. Then in the Fall they leave. We enjoy their company.

Yesterday I worked away here on my computer writing up a story that I had in mind. Today will do much the same. Once I am caught up story wise and the weather warms up a wee bit more, I will start working on some woodworking projects I have in mind. Kind of looking forward to it after being in the house for the past two months.

So with that I am off for a boiled egg this morning that my lovely wife is making for me and will then get to work. Have a great day. GW.

It started off sunny here in Northern Ontario, Canada. But at the moment the sun has left us. We should, however, see a wee bit more sunshine as the day moves forward. Highway 522 is still partially snow and ice covered, and we are having some light flurries at the moment. Today will be the last day of the real cold weather, and tomorrow things will start to warm up above the freezing mark. And the warmer temperatures should remain with us for about a week before it cools back down a wee bit. But by the looks of things, the coldest weather has left us for this year. Which is okay with me as I am looking forward to some front porch sittin”.

On another note, I steadily worked away here on some technical stuff on my computer yesterday. I think I am happy now with the way things are working. It has been a challenge. Today I should be able to get back to writing up some new stories for my newspaper columns. It will be nice to get them out of the way for summer. My wife is steadily working on her painting orders, which has been hard with all the other things she has to do. But she is making progress. It’s amazing how she gets all these things looked after.

With that I am off for a bowl of cereal that my lovely wife is making me and will then get to work. Have a great day. GW

So how you all doing this morning? Good I hope. Starting things off, we all woke up to sunshine here in Northern Ontario, Canada. It sure is nice to see, as it makes a person want to get out of bed. My old Dad used to holler up the stairs some mornings! “Get out of bed boy. We have to make hay while the sun shines.”

Actually, if my old Dad would be alive today, it would be his birthday. So Happy Birthday Dad. I miss ya!

Moving along, it is still down right cold outside this morning, with the temperature sitting at -18.3 C | -0.94 F. Highway 522 is mostly snow and ice covered at the moment, which won’t make travelling all that good for a couple of hours or so. It will warm up a touch as the day moves forward, The sunshine should remain with us for most of the day.

On another note, my wife and I had to clean our driveway and decks removing some snow yesterday, along with helping our neighbour. The good part is, it got us out of the house, some exercise, along with some fresh air. Can’t beat that. No exercise equipment in this house.

Today I will work away on my sound set up for podcasting, along with other things. Lots to learn getting things just right. Especially for an old feller. These young bucks know what is needed and how to do things, as they grew up with all these high-tech gadgets. But for us older folks, it’s a challenge. I do enjoy learning, though.

With that, I am off for a boiled egg that my lovely wife is preparing for me, along with a piece of toast. I might even have a touch of jam on one slice. Just because I can. Have a great day. GW

Who Owns Canada

The land of Canada is solely owned by Queen Elizabeth II, who is also the head of state. Only 9.7% of the total land is privately owned, while the rest is Crown Land. The land is administered on behalf of the Crown by various agencies or departments of the government of Canada. The Canadian Act has no provision for any Canadian to own physical land in Canada. Canadians can only own an interest in an estate. Of the land owned by the Queen, 50% is administered by the provincial governments and the rest by the federal government. The Crown Land administered by the federal and provincial governments can be defined as land not assigned in freehold tenure. The land in Canada is mainly used as national parks, forests, private homes, and agriculture.

Interesting.
