Happenings In & Around Port Loring Ontario Canada

Good Morning:  Bit cloudy and cool waking up.  Temperatures were sitting at -16.9 C | 1.58 F.

Forecast For Today: Stormy and very cold. Will stay very cold over night and into Friday.

Snow Report:  No accumulations over night.

Highway Report:  Highway 522 does have some bare areas but does have some hard packed icy sections.  Care should be taken if out travelling.

Ice Fishing Times:  This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 6:30 AM – 9:00 AM.  Then again from 2:00 PM – 4:30 PM.  I give it a 4 fish rating out of 5 for catching a few.  Good Luck.

Around Town: All is quiet.  For my wife and I we have been steadily enjoying our home made preserves from last years crops.  Preserving is a great way of getting the much needed vitamins and nourishment  this time of year.  We do up around 80 jars of tomatoes from our gardens along with other veggies and come summer of the following year they are pretty well all gone.  Along with them our dried herbs make a great additive to the different dishes my wife makes.  Seems to bring the body into a state that keeps asking for more.  Tea time here, English Breakfast with a leave or two of Dandelion.  Great way to start ones day.  In Closing, I Would Like To Wish You Well.  You can reach George Walters at [email protected]

Good Morning:  Not quite as cold this morning.  Temperatures waking up were sitting at -19.1 C | -2.38 F.

Forecast For Today: Cloudy, cold along with a few flurries off an on.

Highway Report:  Highway 522 is still covered with hard packed snow along with some icy sections throughout.   Extra care should be taken if travelling.

Snow Report:  No accumulations over night.

Ice Fishing Times:  This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 8:30 AM – 10:45 AM.  Then again later on from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM.  I give it a 5 fish rating out of 5 for catching a few.  Great day for fishing.

Around Town.  Not to much to report here this morning. Business’s are slow which is to be expected this time of year.  Things though will pick up in a few weeks with spring entering into the picture.  I see the seed catalogues are out for spring, been getting a few in the mail.  Nothing can take ones mind of the hash winter days more than browsing through one of the catalogues.  Just the pictures of the flowers and vegetables seems to brighten ones day.  Words and pictures have a way of doing that to ones mind.  Tea time here, Chaga is tea of choice this morning.  Enjoy your day, stay warm and safe.  You can reach George Walters at [email protected]

Happenings In & Around Port Loring Ontario Canada

Good Morning:  Very cold morning here in Port Loring.  Waking up temperatures were sitting at -34.6 C | -30.28.

Forecast For Today: A bit of sun early, Snow, very unsettled.

Highway Report:  Highway 522 is covered with hard packed snow and ice.  To cold to melt.  Travelling should be OK this morning but care should be taken.

Snow Report:  No new accumulations over night.

Ice Fishing Times:  This morning the old weather stick is just a shivering out there.  But it still is giving off the report saying that the best times to be out there will be from 7:00 AM -9:00 AM.  Then again in the afternoon from 2:30 PM – 4:00 PM.  I give it a 3 fish rating out of 5 for catching a few this morning and a 4 fish rating out of 5 this afternoon.  Good luck.

Around Town:  Hardly a car or truck moving up and down the highway.  Folks are staying home where it is warm feeding their furnaces and stoves. About all one can do on days like this, as it is just to cold to be outside doing anything.  But it is nice and warm in this old house of ours. New wood furnace we had installed last fall is working like a charm.  Have to say it is one of the best investments I have I made over the years.  So guess that is about it for this morning.  Dress warm if out and about and enjoy your day.  It’s all what you make it. Dandelion Tea here this morning.  You can reach George Walters at [email protected]

Good Morning:  Very cold morning once again here in Port Loring. Waking up temperatures were sitting at -29.9 C | -21.82 F.

Forecast For Today: Fairly fine, improving.

Highway Report:  Highway 522 is covered with hard packed snow along with some icy sections through out.  Travelling should be good today if care is taken.

Snow Report:  Nothing much over night other than a 1/2 inch.

Ice Fishing Times:  This morning the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM.  Then once again a bit later from 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM.  I give it a 2 fish rating out of 5 for catching a few.  Good Luck.

Around Town:  Not much to report here this morning.  Managed to get my driveway cleaned up after being gone a week. Luckily the old snow blower started right up.  Made things a lot easier.  So with that out of the way I can now get back to finishing up this new Natural Health Book and then on to some more renovations in this old house of ours.  Time now for a cup of Chaga, sit back and see where the day brings us.  Enjoy your day, stay warm and safe.  You can reach George Walters at [email protected]

Happenings In & Around Port Loring Ontario Canada

Good Morning:  Well this morning temperatures were sitting at -14.9 C | 5.18 F.  Not as cold which is OK by me.  I am ready for spring.

Forecast For Today:  Stormy with some snow.  It will become very cold later on this afternoon and through the night.

Road Report. Highway 522 is covered with hard packed snow and ice throughout.  Care should be taken if travelling.

Snow Report.  About 1 inch has fallen from yesterday to this this morning.  Nothing much new happening there..  Still lots of snow though for the snowmobiles.  In total I would say we have close to 2 feet in some areas.

Ice Fishing:  Today the old weather stick is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 7:30 AM – 9:30 AM.  Then again a bit later on from 2:00 PM – 4:45 PM.  I give it a 3 fish rating out of 5 for catching them this morning and a 4 fish rating out of 5 this afternoon.  Good Luck!

Around Town:  Quiet here for a Saturday morning.  My wife and I was away for a week visiting our son in St Catharines Ontario.  They have almost the same amount of snow as we do.  Getting out of bed down there looking out the window I thought I was back home here in Port Loring.  But had a good time.  Took in the new Bass Pro Shop the built just on the other side of the canal.  Amazing place to say the least.  I spent a half a day browsing around and still didn’t see it all.  Will be heading back there next time down you can bet on that.  So heading off for a dandelion tea and will see where the day takes us.  Great day to just take things easy.  Stay safe.  You can reach George Walters at; [email protected]
