News For Port Loring.

Well busy weekend here in Port Loring. Lots happening at the corn fest.  Here is a News Letter From Jake the president of the Argyle Riders.  It tells it all.  Weather for tomorrows event is looking good. Today a bit of rain but clearing through the nice will produce nice sunny skies for tomorrow with temperatures in the upper 70s.  Laying out just perfect I would say.  Enjoy your day my friends.

ARGYLE RIDERS NEWS LETTER
Hello to All:
The Argyle Riders will be holding our 19TH Annual Cornfest  on September 1st, 2012 – starting at 2:00 p.m. once again at the Arnstein Community Center.  Special thanks to our Local Services Board for allowing us the use of the Community Park.  Our usual fabulous fare of beef on a bun, beans and corn on the cob and a well stocked bar will be available.
We are HOPING to have the helicopter back again this year – IF they can be available, for those of you who are interested in a Helicopter ride – they will be at the Community Center at 12:00 noon – so come early to book your flight.  Last year the helicopter rides ended early when black clouds and rain threatened the safety – lets hope for a perfect day this year.  We will know closer to the date whether or not the helicopter will be available – so feel free to call Jake (705) 7275-2012 to check.
We will be offering local vendors the opportunity to set up displays for goods and services at the site.  We will be offering shuttle service to and from the Cornfest.  Arrangements can be made for pickup and return trips by calling Kerry Booth at (705) 757-3450 (bus) or (705) 757-2290 (home).
We will have our usual games of chance (50/50 raffle) and our famous Pegboard (lots of nice prizes this year).  Last year the silent auction went over so well that we have decided to focus on another one for this year and hope to have some fantastic prizes.
Entertainment will be provided by the Cats & Jammers through the afternoon until 10 pm or until they get tired !!  lots of fun guaranteed with this gang.
The price of admission is the same as before $12.00 at the gate and $10.00 advance with advance tickets available until Aug 25th at Argyle Fuels, Jakes Place or by contacting Betty Webb at (705) 757- 2504.  Those buying advance tickets will be entered into an early bird draw for a prize valued at $200.00 so get your tickets early.   Enclosed are raffle tickets for a BBQ and second prize is a gazebo – thank you to Rob at Port Loring Home Hardware.

You can fill out your raffle tickets and mail them to us with the money if you cannot attend the Cornfest – by August 26th – or bring them with you to enter in the draw at the gate.
Note:  No pets , weapons or coolers please

On the snowmobile scene there has been an increase of $10 in the cost for permits  – to $210.00 if purchased before Dec1st and $260.00 after Dec 1st.  Permits will be available some time in September – so buy early and save – just get it out of the way so you don’t forget.  The Snow insurance Guarantee has been scrapped , wonder why ?

The Argyle Riders are in the process of re-decking the bridge at Wellers Folly.  This is a major undertaking and will involve considerable expense, however,  this is a scenic part of our trail system and we will endeavor to make this a success.

Jake (President)  A.R.S.C.
