Weather, Fishing Times & Things

Good Morning & Happy New Year.  Well we are starting off the new year here in Port Loring with around 6 inches of snow which fell over night.  Winter wonderland out there this morning.  Just beautiful. Temperatures did warm up a touch through the night and at the moment it is sitting at   -5.6 C | 21.92 F.  Will remain there most of the day.

Forecast For Today: Stormy, much snow.  We also will have some high winds which will make things much more challenging if out driving.  I suspect after looking at things we will get another 2-4 inches; drifts will be also a major factor.   Especially for those with long driveways.

Highway Report:  Highway 522 is snow covered in all areas.  From Highway 11 straight through to Highway 69.  Not a great day to be out driving.  But for the snowmobiles it is a dream come true.

Fishing Times: This morning the old weather stick and gathered data is saying that the best times to be out there will be from 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM.  Then a bit later on from 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM.  I give it a 3 fish rating out of 5 for catching a few.  Winds this morning are coming in from the West at around 10 MPH.

Around Town:  Well this morning I haven’t seen one car moving up and down the Highway.  With this weather I can’t say I blame anyone neither.  For my wife and I we are going to sit back and let nature take her course.  Nice to be able to do that at this time in life.  But it wasn’t always that way.  We were like most working from 6 in the morning to after dark at night.  Never letting up for a minute.  Pretty well all my life I have been self employed which in my mind is a great life style.  Never took one cent from the government no matter how sick or injured I was.  Not in me to do that.  At any rate we all choose our own roads.  Some are wrong some are right. For you my friends I hope you take the right road and what better time of year to start things off.   Happy New Years my friends.  Stay safe and keep warm.  You can reach me George Walters at [email protected]
