Happenings In & Around Port Loring

Good Morning:  Cloudy day here in Port Loring.  Temperatures waking up were sitting at 16.6 C | 61.88 F.

Forecast For Today: Unsettled, probably improving as the day moves forward.  Sunshine will re-enter into the picture tomorrow.  Might see a wee  bit of sunshine later on in the day if we are lucky.  Thinking more clouds than sunshine along with a few showers.  Temperatures will also remain a touch cooler. Makes it nice for sleeping and working if the urge hits.

Highway Report:  Highway 522 is bare and wet from east to west.  Lots of deer and moose roaming the highway  so care should be taken.  Also seen a few turtles.   They like to lay their eggs along side of the highway as the pavement when hot keeps their eggs warm.  So please if you see one trying to cross the road slow down and go around.

Bug Report:  Lots of blackflies these days irritating folks along with the mosquitoes.   It’s a norm for this time of year.  Good idea to brush yourself off before going into the house as they like to hide in ones clothing.  Don’t need them biting you in the night while trying to sleep.

Fishing Report:  This morning the old weather stick along with my Grandfathers formula says that the best times to be out there with pole in hand will be from 7:00 AM – 9:30 AM.  Then once again later on this afternoon from 2:00 PM – 4:30 PM.  I give it a 4 fish rating out of 5 for catching a few.   Winds this morning are quite breezy coming in from the North West at around 5 mph with gusts up to 15 mph.  Good Luck!

Around Town:  Stores and other places are a touch slow.  But that is to be expected this time of year.  Resorts are getting things cleaned up readying for the upcoming season.  Lots of work goes into keeping them suitable for folks to stay in.  Myself I have been busy working away on my boat getting things cleaned up for the fishing season.  Looking forward to getting out there once the blackflies have had their way with us humans and critters.   Few more weeks to go yet then should be rid of them for another year.  Gardens I planted a week ago are slowly edging upwards.  Thinking we had enough rain now for a spell which will speed them along a bit.  Nice to watch things mature through the first few months after planting.  Then to be rewarded with vegetables you know are safe to eat.  So with that, enjoy your day,  You an reach George Walters if you so wish at [email protected]
