What’s Happening In Port Loring, Ontario, Ontario, Canada on Feb 25/2023

I have to admit, there is a lot of it being sold these days in the big cities. But I also don’t suspect it is all that bad for you if you use it in moderation. Not that I use it internally, mind ya. I’m just saying….

Good Morning!

It’s a cloudy morning here, waking up. It is also a touch cool, with the temperature sitting at -17.3 C | 0.86 F. It will warm up a bit as the day moves forward, but not much, Yesterday was sure cold and stayed cold all day. We didn’t have any more snow overnight, but we are having a bit now, and we could see another 2 or 3 inches throughout the day. So I am thinking I will wait for a bit before cleaning out my driveway. I still haven’t cleaned it from the last bit we had, which was the day before yesterday, which was another 3 inches. Highway 522 is snow covered with a lot of icy sections throughout.

On another note, my lovely wife and I decided to take a trip to town, North Bay, yesterday. Since it was sunny. The trip there and back was good weather and road wise. There was a bit of snow on the roads on the way in, but on the way home they were all clear. However, our poor car looked white when we returned home, covered with salt and slush. So I will see about washing it as soon as it warms up a bit. Too cold out there to do that at the moment. I feel bad for it sitting out there looking a mess.

In town, we got our groceries at Metro, had our lunch in our car while people watching and then drove home chatting to each other. Great day all in all, and sure felt good to get out of the house for a few hours. Gas prices are still up there, sitting at $1.51 a Litre. And food, well let’s say … it makes a feller cringe at the cash register. The thing is, the grocery stores are charging us outrageous prices and their profits have never been so high. I don’t know about you, but that sure raises my eyebrows a bit.

With that, I am off for a bowl of cereal and will then see what the day has in store. You never know, these days. Stay safe, still a lot of sickness around town and in the big cities.

But before I go, while we’re on the subject of illness.
Cancer is affecting an increasing number of people in Port Loring these days.
I’m not sure what’s going on.
I’m not sure if it’s the mines farther north, the water, what we eat, or our air.
But one thing is certain: things aren’t looking good in that department.
