Morning Report Sep 13/19

You can feel the changing of seasons in the air here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. Sign of what lies ahead I suppose. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 11.9 C | 53.42 F. It will warm up as the day moves forward. At moment, the sun hasn’t made an appearance, but we might see some later on. There is also a chance of some more rain throughout the day. It’s kind of a mixed day weather wise. Yesterday I worked on an old table I had in the back porch. Amazing what can take place with a bit of sanding, glue and some stain. Looks like brand-new now, or will once my lovely wife puts her mark on the top. With that I am off for my morning cup of tea, and will see what the day has in store. GW

Morning Report Sep 12/19

A bit cool here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. Cloudy with temperatures sitting at 10.9 C | 51.62 F. It will warm up some as the day progresses. We should also see some sunshine today giving away tomorrow to more rain. But after that we should see a lot more sunshine. I had to turn the oil furnace on this morning to take the coolness out of the house. Feels good. Just I hate burning oil so early in the season. Not much you can do though. Yesterday we went to North Bay to purchase a few things, got home late in the day. Today I will finish up some painting around the house here and do some work in my shop. With that I am off for a cup of tea, and will see what the day has in store, other than what want to do. Have a great day.

Another cloudy, rainy morning waking up here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. Not as cold with temperatures sitting at 17.6 C | 63.68 F. We could see a bit of sunshine later on with more showers this evening. Today I will finish up some work around the house here now that the firewood is in for winter. Then I guess it will be time to clean out my vegetable gardens of things that aren’t producing anymore. It’s been a short summer, as it seems I just planted it. With that I am off for a cup of tea. Have a great day. Even though it’s raining, doesn’t make it a day that should be wasted.

It should be a fair day for hunting, which will make the bear hunters happy. Quite a few have dropped by our store to say hi and pick up a few gifts to take home with them. They come from all over. One bunch came from Sweden. Another came from Poland. Nice to see them out and about enjoying life. Today I give it a 4-Star Rating out of 5 for seeing a few. Getting one or two … well, that is up to you. Good Luck and stay safe. Remember, bears can be crafty sometimes, switching the tables on hunters.

Morning Report Sep 10/19

A bit of a change this morning for us here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. It’s raining, a touch cool and breezy. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 11.2 C | 52.16 F. It will warm up as the day moves forward. Rain will continue till Thursday. Then more rain or a thunderstorm on Friday. Crazy weather for sure. On the good side of the coin we did get all our firewood in while it was nice and dry. Not that it matters, as my wood is stored outside under a lean-to which I built fifteen years ago. Best move I ever made. But hauling it around on wet grass isn’t fun and makes a mess. Yesterday and the day before was perfect weather for getting it done. Nice to see it all piled high and dry in the basement. Today I will do a bit more painting inside the house as my lovely wife would like one of our doors painted. Then I might write up a story or two if the light of ideas strikes me. With that I am off for my morning cup of tea and a bite to eat, and will let the day unfold around me. Have a great day!

Morning Report Sep 9/2019

One again, it is a cool morning waking up here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. This morning temperatures were sitting at 1.3 C | 34.34 F. It will warm up as the day progresses. Tonight shouldn’t be as cold and the rest of the week should warm up. I did cover a few things in my vegetable garden last night, which was a good thing as we did have frost, but hardly any close to the ground. But I am glad I did, as I do have some plants that grow high in nature. Yesterday we started bringing in our firewood for winter and today should finish it. Makes me smile when it is all in piled high and dry. The main elements in life are: Water, Heat and Food. With them we can survive quite nicely. I have always made sure our cupboards were full come winter and enough fuel to keep us warm. Luckily so far water is not an issue, at least not in our area. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and a bite to eat, and then will let the day do what it is going to do. Have a great day!

Nice morning here waking up in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. It is a touch cool with temperatures sitting at 7.8 C | 46.04 F. Tonight it will get down to 3 C/38 F. We could see some frost. Sign of the times I suppose. Yesterday I got a lot done around the place here, putting the old boat to bed for winter, cleaning up some gardens and also managed to almost finish painting the inside of the back porch. Now it is time to fix my old mower which I was planning on doing yesterday but didn’t get to it. Make plans but never plan the results. Then I guess we will be putting in firewood for winter. Takes us around two or three days, but when done it will keep our house warm for most the winter. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and a bite to eat, and then will see what develops. Have a great day!

It looks like a really nice day here waking up in Port Loring Ontario Canada. The sun is shinning, hardly any wind to speak off, no bugs of any amount, what could be better. Temperatures getting out of bed were sitting at 10C/49F. It will warm up a touch and there is a chance of some showers entering into the picture later on in the day. Not that we need any more. Today I will finish up my painting and then get to fixing my old riding mower one of my wheels came off the deck. I guess I can’t complain it is over 30 years old. Still runs like a top though. Morning Report Sep 6/2019

It’s a cloudy morning waking up here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. By the looks of the sky in the west we are in for some rain, as it is black. I suspect showers off and on throughout the day. Temperatures through the night were cool which made it nice for sleeping. This morning they are sitting at 10.8 C | 51.44 F. Not to bad. Yesterday I manged to mow the grass around our property and then in the afternoon went fishing with my fishing buddy Barry. It was a fantastic day on the water, and we did catch a few for supper. Mostly small mouth bass. I did miss netting a huge pike that got unhooked right up side of the boat. They are crafty let me tell you. You never want to think you have them for certain until they are in the boat. Today I have some repair work to do on my old mower and then will see what the day has in store. You never know.

Nice looking day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is shinning which makes things that much better. Temperatures were a bit cool getting out of bed 8.4 C | 47.12 F. It will warm up some as the day moves forward. We did have to put the oil furnace on for a wee bit this morning to take the dampness out of the house. Nice to have these things. Some take them for granted but when you’re without you soon learn to appreciate them. I sometimes think we all should be in need once in a while, if for nothing else to keep things in perspective. Today I have some mowing to do which should keep my lovely wife and I busy for most the day. Then I will finish up my painting on the outside of our porch. Rain held me back a bit. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and a bite to eat. Have a great day.

Morning Report Sep 4/2019

Another cloudy day here waking up in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. We should see some sunshine a bit later. Not as cold with temperatures sitting at 11 C/51F. But you sure can see things are changing with the leaves turning colour and falling. Just certain trees take on colour, then they all follow suit, so to speak. It’s a nice time of year, but a sad time too, as we all know what lies ahead. Such is life. Today I will work away on my painting the inside of my back porch. That should take up most of the day. Our vegetable gardens are winding down but the tomatoes are ripening every day. My wife freezes them as they ripen, which makes for some nice eating later on when they aren’t available. With that I am off for my morning cup of tea and will see what the day has in store, other than work.

Cool morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada, with cloudy skies and showers. There also is quite a breeze which makes things feel that much colder. I stared my furnace this morning to take the dampness out of the house. It won’t be long and it will be running daily I am thinking. Leaves are dropping now all around my shop. Today I will get to work painting my back porch. Since the weather isn’t the greatest I will paint the inside. I am hoping we have some more nice warm weather to finish the outside work. It’s a really nice morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. Sun is shinning and temperatures were sitting at 11.9 C | 53.42 F. The long weekend is looking good. On another note we did have a great rain through the night. My garden is smiling. You can water all you want but Mother Nature has her own way of doing things. Yesterday I managed to get my shop cleaned up. It was in dire need after all the things I have been doing through the summer. It will be nice to move around in there now come winter. Today I will work up my vegetable garden a bit and plant some lettuce. What I did have is all but gone now. If I plant it now we will have fresh lettuce in about two to three weeks, which should last till Fall. With that I am off for a cup of coffee and some bacon and eggs. That should get me motivated. Not to bad, of a day waking up here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. At the moment we are all clouds, but we should see some sunshine as the day progresses. Tonight we will have some more rain and maybe a shower or two tomorrow. But for most parts some really nice weather. Temperatures were sitting at 14.8 C | 58.64 F. It will warm up in a bit. On another note my wife and I took a drive to North Bay yesterday for some supplies, and while there we met our son and had lunch with him. It’s always nice to see him. After that we picked up some items and groceries and arrived back home around 5:30 PM. Long day. You can say what you want, but going to North Bay from Port Loring when all said and done, the day is shot. Along the way we noticed the trees are turning colours. In some areas I would say they are 20% Changed already. Nature is ready for a rest this year I am thinking. Maybe it is trying to tell us something, like maybe we had better get prepared? With that I am off for my breakfast and a cup of coffee with my lovely wife. I then will see what mischief I can get into, or so the wife says. Have a great day.

We finally got a bit of rain we were in need of here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. Not as much as I would have liked, but a little is better than nothing. The trees and things were in dire need of a drink. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 17.2 C | 62.96 F. It is possible we might see a shower throughout the day. But for most parts the sun and a few clouds will be upon us. The long weekend is looking mighty fine. Hard to believe we are coming into September already. Today I will do some work in my gardens, maybe plant a bit more lettuce as what I planted in the spring is about had it. But we still have lots of blackberries just starting and zucchini is producing leaps and bounds. Our small store has seen a steady stream of customers this summer, which keeps my wife busy. With that I am off for some breakfast and then I will have a cup of coffee on the front porch with my lovely wife.
