Cloudy morning for the last day of October here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. Today it will be colder with rain and drizzle this morning followed by a mix of snow and rain this afternoon. There is a warning up for our area for snow and icy conditions. Not the greatest day for the young ones that goes out for Halloween. But I suspect they will make the best of it. Temperatures were sitting at 2.3 C | 36.14 F. They will start to drop later on in the day. Yesterday turned out to be quite nice, and we even had some sunshine. Worked out just perfect for my wife and I to do some outside work for a very good friend of ours. Today being not so good we will stay in and I will work away on scanning pictures of the olden days. Never knew we had so many. But when all said and done it will make a nice gift for our boys. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and will bend my wife’s ear a wee bit, as we sure enjoy our chats … and our coffee. Have a great day!

Cloudy morning waking up here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. Today we might see a wee bit of sunshine breaking through them clouds. Tomorrow though snow and ice is in the forecast through Friday morning. They have warnings up for our area at the moment. But it is that time of year. Might not be a great Halloween night for the kids tomorrow. But we will see how it goes. Today I have to do some work for a friend and then maybe make a run to the dump. There is always something to do when owning a home. Temperatures waking up weren’t too bad sitting at 1.1 C | 33.98 F. Our weather station is also calling for possible snow later on tonight as temperatures drop. So with that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and will let the day unfold around me. Looking out our windows here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada this morning, the sun is shinning and looking good. How long will it last? Well … if things goes to plan, we should see some sunshine off and on till Thursday. That’s when things start to change with a bit of winter showing itself. But I figure every day I don’t have to put on my heavy coat, or shovel snow, things are pretty good. Yesterday I got some things done around the house here that needed doing, wrote up a story for my columns and Magazines I write for, and then enjoyed a drink on the front porch with my lovely wife, as it was quite nice outside. We might just get to do that again today. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and see what my wife has in mind. Seems we always have something to talk about. Which is what makes a happy life, wife? Well … what ever. LOL Have a great day.

We all woke up to a few clouds here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. At least it isn’t raining. Yesterday it rained for most the day. We should see some sunshine as the day moves forward, and if we are lucky tomorrow should be good too. But after that things aren’t looking to good weather wise. Yesterday I worked on a few stories in the morning and then got a lot of our old pictures of years ago put on my computer. Takes a lot of time to do that but when all said and done we will give a copy of them to our boys. I never realized just how many pictures we had. But each one is like taking a trip back memory lane. Today we will continue. On another note we have been getting a lot of different birds at our feeder these days. I even seen one lonesome Robin. It won’t be long and most of the summer birds will have left for warmer areas. But others take their place, which is nice. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife and then see what develops. Sometimes we make plans on doing things, but they don’t always pan out as planned. Have a great day. GW

It’s a rainy day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. It looks like the rain will continue on for most of the day. But if we are lucky we should see some sunshine tomorrow. The heat from the furnace is feeling good this morning. Not that it is really that cold with temperatures sitting at 8.6 C | 47.48 F, but the dampness is another story. My Dad when he was alive could tell exactly what the weather was going to be, by the aches and pains throughout his body. I have to admit he was usually correct with his predictions. On another note, I did manage to write up one story yesterday, I got distracted for a bit there chatting to my lovely wife. Seems we always have something to talk about, and you know? We are good at it too. Today I will work away here on the computer with the weather being as it is. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and will see what the day has in store for us. Not a bad day shaping up for us here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is shinning for a change, which makes things just that much better. Temperatures this morning are a touch cool sitting at -0.6 C | 30.92 F. It will warm up some as the day moves forward. Yesterday before the rain I managed to get my outside sensor lights installed and cleaned up my shop. I have to admit I can sure mess things up. The problem is that we do so many things in one day, and when I get going I don’t put things back where they belong. But I guess that is why I get so much done. LOL Not many vehicles on Highway 522 today. Now the tourists have left things are slowing down. Which is okay with me. We have had a busy summer with the store and things and a bit of a rest wouldn’t be all that bad. On another note the leaves are about 75% gone but the Tamarack are now changing colour, and they sure can put on a show. I would say that Mother Nature is one great Artist. My lovely wife says there is none better. Today I will work on some stories for my columns. I had a couple come to me through the night. So that will keep me busy for most the day. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and will see what the day has in store for me. One just never knows. Have a great day!

Temperatures this morning are sitting at, 0.1 C | 32.18 F. It should warm up as the day moves forward. Highway 522 is bare and dry with no traffic to speak of. Which is a norm for this time of year. Highway 522 is quiet. Darkness is upon us waking up these days and when we go to bed. Times like this a feller doesn’t feel like getting out of bed. Cloudy day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. Rain is still in the forecast for today, but tomorrow we should see some sunshine. We can only hope. LOL. Highway 522 is quiet these days with all the tourists gone for the year. There has been a lot of hunters roaming around though more so than last year. Is it a good thing? Depends on how you look at things I guess. The leaves have pretty well all fallen and most the birds of summer have left. Hate to see them go but I do understand their objective. If it was possible i would go with them as they know where it is warm. Yesterday I did a bunch of things around the house and today will be much the same. I see now they switched our Hydro over to Time of use for most of us here in Port Loring. Is it a good thing? Again, depends, in some ways it is nice knowing exactly what time you are using most of the hydro and how much. In other ways I don’t suspect it will make much difference in the cost of things. To me it was a huge expense setting it up where the money could have gone to better things … like lowering our rates. But such is that and in Canada the people doesn’t really have a say anymore. What can you do? Nothing. LOL With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife.

Temperatures waking up were sitting at 13 C | 55.4 F. Not too bad, but we still had to start up the oil furnace to take the dampness out of the house this morning. Today with it being kind of miserable weather wise I will work on some stories for my columns. Days like this I don’t mind being inside. Yesterday I did get a lot of work done around my shop which will make it nice for winter. On another note the Election is over with. Did it turn out okay? Well … I guess it depends on what side of the fence you were on. At any rate it will be interesting to see what develops, if anything in the next few years. Another really nice day here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The sun is shinning with hardly a cloud in the sky. It will cloud up some later on. Temperatures at the moment are a bit cool sitting at 4.2 C | 39.56 F. It will warm up a lot as the day moves forward. I am thinking it will be a great day to get the last of my outside work done. I did manage to touch up my roof on my shop yesterday, wash the car and blow some leaves around. Took me most the day. It was actually a really nice day. Today will be even better, but then we will have some rain entering into the picture tonight. But if we are lucky we will have another nice day tomorrow. Kind of up and down weather. Today is voting day for all of Canada. Will be interesting for sure. The trouble is that here in Canada if one party is low on the necessary seats to win another party can join up with them and bring them into power. Myself I don’t think that is right. But that is the way it is and as in every country not everything is correct. Today I will finish up some outside work and then if lucky my lovely wife and I will enjoy a bit of time on the front porch. Weather permitting of course. Our weather here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada is looking really nice here this morning. The sun is shinning with a few clouds. Temperatures were sitting at 5.9 C | 42.62 F. It will get a bit warmer as the day moves forward. Tomorrow though we are back to rain. Typical not so good weather for this time of year. Traffic is slow this morning on Highway 522, hardly a car or truck moving East or West. That will change in a bit with all the Church Goer’s LOL. Today I have some outside work to do on my woodworking shop. I figure I should fix it up while the sun is shinning. Then maybe I will clean it a bit getting it ready for the cold weather. I also need to clean the chimney. Once done I will finish up the day if lucky sitting outside taking in what Nature has to offer with my lovely wife. There won’t be many more days that one can sit outside without too many clothes on. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee.

Finally, we are seeing some sunshine waking up here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. We should have sunshine for most the day and into tomorrow. Temperatures though were a bit cool getting out of bed sitting at -0.2 C | 31.64 F. It will warm up as the day moves forward. Looking out the ground and grass is white with frost. I am happy I finish up my vegetable gardens and got my garlic planted for next year. Today we will do some work here in the house it being so cold outside, which will take most the day. More birds are coming to our bird feeder, a sign that colder weather is ending their food supply a bit. My wife and I enjoy watching them as they come to visit. Something to watch in this vast wilderness other than trees, snow, and snowplows going up and down the highway. Yesterday my lovely wife and I went to North Bay to take Karl our son to lunch for his birthday. Had a great lunch and visit. While there, we picked up a few groceries. Arrived back home around 4:00 PM. I have to admit it was a really nice trip, the sun came out and actually there for a few minutes … we did run into our first snow. Sign of what is to come I suspect. But for most parts the day was sunny. The leaves are about 80% gone, but it still was nice looking at what is left as we drove along. The Tamarack is out in full colour now too, which makes for another round of colours for a couple weeks or so. We enjoy watching them changing colours too. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee with my lovely wife.

Hunting won’t be too good today, but you never know. I give it a 1-Star Rating out of 5. On our trip to town yesterday we saw lots of trucks and trailers with ATV”s and camping gear heading our way, so one should take care while walking in the bush. Put guns or ?, in the hands of many humans, one needs to be careful. Not a good time to be pleasure walking around in the bush. If you do … wear bright colours so someone doesn’t mistake you for something your not. Good Luck and Stay Safe.
Cool morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. Waking up temperatures were sitting at 1.5 C | 34.7 F. Furnace is running for most the day now. Won’t be long, and we will be starting up the wood furnace. Today I have some work to do in the woodworking shop. I have a few sign orders along with some other small orders. Once that is done I should be pretty well set for winter. After that I will take some time for chatting with my lovely wife. Not that we don’t do any through the day. LOL Highway 522 is slow these days with the tourists all back home. Cottages have been closed up for another year. The trees have lost most of their leaves and the birds have migrated or at least half of them. The crows are still with us and I did see a few Robins drop by to say goodbye yesterday, but today they are gone. With that I am off for my morning coffee and will let the day unfold around me.

We all woke up to rain here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. Through the night we had some heavy rain with lots of thunder. Lasted so long it woke me up. The rain will continue on into tomorrow and the next day before the sun shows itself again. Yesterday it did clear up in the afternoon with a bit of sunshine. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 6 C | 42.8 F. My wife and I took advantage of the nice weather and got the vegetable garden cleaned up and covered it with leaves and then tilled it up. After that I planted our garlic for next year. While I did that, my lovely wife raked up the leaves. We then both closed the store for the winter and brought things inside where it is warm. Good Morning and Happy Thanksgiving! Today waking up here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada it is cloudy, a touch cool and rainy. But other than that it is a great day. Temperatures were sitting at 4.3 C | 39.74 F. It will warm up a bit as the day moves forward. We could see some breaks in the sky and a bit of sunshine if we are lucky. Tomorrow and Wednesday we will have more rain. I am hoping it holds off for a day, so I can rake some leaves for our garden and get it tilled up. Then I would like a day to plant my garlic for next year. I don’t think that is asking much. On another note I noticed this morning at our bird feeder the black birds are back. They are here usually in the spring and throughout the winter months. I guess their food supply is dwindling and our feeder looks inviting. We enjoy watching them. Today my lovely wife is cooking us a turkey with home made dressing. I am looking forward to that. I started the shop stove earlier and today I will finish up some shop work. A little heat feels pretty good these days. Yesterday was another busy day in our store but I suspect after Thanksgiving it will slow down. It’s a rainy day here for us in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. Not the greatest weather to start off a Thanksgiving Weekend. But not much we can do about it other than make the best of it. Yesterday my lovely wife and I went to North Bay and had supper at Lott 88 with our son Karl. Had a great meal a bottle of fine wine and to top things off a piece of Baileys cheesecake. Can’t get much better than that. After supper, we picked up a few things at the grocery store and came home arriving back in Port Loring around 7:00 PM. Seems no matter how we try going to North Bay takes a full day. Today I have a bit of shop work to do with a few people dropping by to pick up orders. It will be a full day. On another note we had to turn the oil furnace on this morning to take the dampness out of the house. Feels good too. I don’t like to start the wood furnace till it gets freezing. I still have to till up my veggie garden yet, but I am waiting till the leaves are all down as I like to put them in the garden before tilling. Makes for a really nice fertilizer and soil rejuvenater come spring. Temperatures waking up were sitting at 9.8 C | 49.64 F. With that I am off for my morning cup of coffee and a bite to eat.
