News For Port Loring

Still quiet around town, see  a few folks heading off to their favorite church this morning being Sunday.  For my wife and I we take each day as it comes to us and treat it no different than any other.  With nature all around us what more could a fellow or gal ask for.  New years resolutions are being made today in hopes to better ones self, but there again my wife and I let things lie where they want.  Old saying is that you can make plans for the future, just don’t plan the results.  I like that one and has worked for us for many a years.  I also like another one, not a saying really, but words of wisdom my old Dad told me many years ago. “George,  If your unsure of what to do in life pertaining to a certain item, do the research, then ask as many folks as you can of how they think on the subject, then if say, 80 % like it one way, you then take the other.  Reason being that 80% of the world is wrong in their thinking.”  You know for four generations our family has used them words or most of us and the ones that has looking at them today, are pretty well off.  Maybe not with a lot of money, but well off enough with their meaning of life, food on the table, a warm home and values that are in abundance.    Have a great day my friends and “Happy New Years to ya.”

Well still pretty quiet around town.  Most folks are just taking it easy I suspect.   Yesterday we went to town to pick up a few things and I have to say the stores were packed full.  Thing is most were carrying packages and things, so that is a sign folks are spending.  Which is what we need to keep this old economy perkin’ away as it should be. Not what the Powers That Be would like you to think, but don’t take much to look through their shenanigans LOL So my friends have a great day an will be back here when a new day dawns.

Not much to report, stores are quiet here in town, not many trucks or cars for that matter running up and down the roads.  Hardly even see anyone walking, other than my wife and I as we love to get out for some air every day. Most folks I would think will have their shopping all done up for the year.  But in saying that…..my wife and I was into North Bay yesterday and it was hard to even find a parking spot at the Mall.  So might just be a few last minute shoppers floating around.  For my wife and I we go in every year when it’s busy like that, not to buy much, but mostly for the spirit of things.  Just seeing folks laughing and having fun in picking out their presents sure is a sight to see.  Great time of year to say the least.  Gets us in the spirit of things you could say.   Well today just going to take it easy some and enjoy what the day brings us.  Have a great day folks.

Well not much to report.  The senior’s dinner in Arnstein last Thursday went well, with a lot of folks attending.  Nice to see so many out an about.  I figure anything that can get folks outside is just great.  My wife and I missed the event as other things were on our menu but maybe next year.  Well suppose I should head on down stairs and put another log in the old wood furnace.  Sure is nice though feeling that warm air coming up through the vents.  Nothing like wood heat let me tell ya.  I know, for some it is a real challenge, but for most parts it keeps one fit and I will keep it up as long as I can.  Take care my friends.

News For Port Loring

Still quiet around town, not many cars or trucks even going up and down the highway. But that is to be expected this time of year.  The only real active place in town would be the Legion as it has different events happening every week.  Lucky to have them, as it gets folks out of the house.  I have found the worse thing one can do is sit around.  The old body I have found needs lots of exercise , the more the better.  If one just sits around, I can guarantee problems will arise.  So get outside, go for walks and put yourself on a rigorous exercise program and do it faithfully every day.  Doesn’t matter how old you are neither, so no excuses.  Also make sure you get your sunshine, and through out the winter months take a drop or two of Vitamin D each day, best medicine you could ever take, bar none. Have a great day my friends.

Again not much happening.  Did go for a lunch with the members of our Local Service’s Board yesterday, had a great couple hours together.  Would like to wish them all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy Hew Years.  Looking outside, we got a bit of sunshine peaking through them clouds, so thinking I will head on outside and see if I can catch a bit of Vitamin D.  Hope you all do the same.  Stay well my friends and will be back here tomorrow morning.

Flu Shots Your Choice Make The Right One.

Every year, Powers that be and its pawns  get a little bit more aggressive in their push for full compliance with the flu vaccine agenda. And this year, they are targeting faith-based groups and the leaders of such groups, which include pastors, priests, rabbis, and imams — to promote flu vaccines to their members during religious services, and even to partner with local drug stores to hold flu vaccine clinics.

It is simply amazing that so many folks are still willing to go out and subject their body to a vaccine that is far from being proven to doing what they suggest it is dong.  I wouldn’t hesitate  to say that there is more behind these folks wanting you to get the shot than just concerns about your health.  I believe that the folks that have taken the flu shots over the past few years will in turn pay dearly.  The body can handle the modern day flu and colds all on its own. It always has and always will.   The more we keep putting these drugs into our system the weaker our body becomes and in turn we all become more sicker.  My opinion only.

Again quiet out there.  But here at our home we been busy.  Yesterday my wife and I went for a drive and cut down our yearly Christmas tree.  Got a nice one this year and will look really nice when all decorated up.  Got it sitting outside by the shop at the moment, till we get things prepared for its grand entrance.  Nothing more entices me than watching the tree being decorated by my lovely wife, while sipping hot chocolate and listening to some soft Christmas music.  The real tree has been a tradition here at our home and our boys even into today still, looks forward to waking up Christmas morning to the tree, surrounded by gifts that Santa brought through out the night.  Some years presents were scarce I can remember, but no matter what, even if I had to make things myself, there was always some gifts in the offering come Christmas morning.  Well have a great day my friends.  Enjoy your day and for those that aren’t in the Christmas spirit yet, just think of that movie Scrooge and a whole new meaning of how Christmas should be, will open up, right before your eyes.  Talk soon.

Nothing Much to speak of is happening. Most folks are out shopping taking in the sights of what lies ahead, buying up all the sales that happen to be on their lists.  I am thinking even though our economy isn’t the greatest at the moment folks are still spending on gifts this year.  Stores are full of folks buying which is a good sign.  Thing one has to remember, is that for most parts our media of today is something that sways folks minds.  For myself I know my limits, what to spend, what not to and never take what they are saying  to heart.  If more folks did that our economy would be right up there with the best of others.  My Opinion Only. Have a great day and if that sun happens to show itself, get out there, roll up your sleeves and get a bit on your skin.  Much needed this time of year.  Have a great day my friends.

Well with Christmas now not to far off I see a lot of store are having sales.  For myself I have to admit I like looking at the flyers that comes out once a week.  Not that we buy a lot of stuff anymore, but interesting just the same, to see what they can drop the prices of things down too.  Kind of makes a fellow wonder if they can sell these things once a week at half the price, or lower, why they couldn’t just drop it a touch all the time.  I know, it’s Christmas and these sales on certain items are put in place for a reason.  Reason being, to get you into their store in the hope you will buy more.  Good idea in theory I suppose.   One has to have the will power to just go in and buy the sales and come home.  My wife and I still buy presents for out boys, well guess I shouldn’t call them boys as they are both are getting up there and now our new Grandson Cole whom came into the picture last summer.  Cute little feller let me tell ya, and right at the moment into everything.  Just a going concern.  My wife’s and I’s presents are ourselves and kind of has been that way for most of all our married life together, which as a matter of fact is over thirty six years.  Picked her up when she was only a spring chicken and decided to keep her.  Well probably the other way around.  Putting up with this old feller all these years hasn’t been the easiest I suspect.  We still put up a real tree every year and I look forward in watching my wife decorate it.  Seems Christmas isn’t really here, till the tree is sittin’ in the corner surrounded with presents with the lights just a twinkling away.  Kind of makes me feel sad and happy all in one.  I guess I shouldn’t say my wife and I have never bought presents for each other as we have.  Only thing was that when we did have enough money back on the farm, the present usually would be something that we could use to make us money like a tractor, disc, plow, some different tools things like that. I guess you could  say it was the gift that keeps on giving.    Well guess I should go, I lit the old wood stove in the shop so it warms up some for some work I want to do, so should go and check that out.  Then have a tea or two and see what the day brings me.  Enjoy your day my friends and cya all back here tomorrow morning.

News For Port Loring & District

Nothing much to report other than lots of snow.  Not many cars or trucks moving around out there that’s for sure. Haven’t seen one go by our house here on Highway 522 all morning.  Even the snow plow today is having a hard time in making an appearance.  The snow is heavy though with lots of ice under it.  So taking all them things into consideration folks, best if at all possible to curl up with a good book today and stay home.  That’s what my lovely wife and I are going to do.  For myself the first snow fall is the nicest and from any window in our home the view is fantastic.  Nature can be beautiful my friends, if one allows it to enter our minds of what it wants us to see.  Have a great day.
