George Walters is a Canadian columnist and author with more than forty years of writing experience. For over twenty years he has written a weekly column for Postmedia Network — Canada's largest newspaper chain — never missing a single week, publishing fifty-two stories a year. Combined with his work in Reader's Digest Community Voices, World News, Country Living, The Country Register, and farm and rural lifestyle magazines across Canada, he has published well over two thousand stories drawn from everyday life. He writes about farm work, fishing, old trucks, and the kind of people you only find in small towns — but just as likely he'll hand a voice to a weathered telephone pole, or turn his eye on something happening in the world today and tell you exactly what he thinks about it. No subject is off limits. If there's a story in it, George will find it. He has been called a philosopher of everyday life, a description that came up more than once during his television appearances over the years — and it's not hard to see why. His writing has a way of making the ordinary feel worth sitting with. He is the author of eleven books, including yearly short story collections and the Clay Moretti Files mystery series. Clay is a fifty-year-old private investigator who drives a 1967 Ford Galaxie, smokes cigars, and operates by a code the modern world gave up on a long time ago. The cases are present day. The man handling them is not. All titles are available in paperback and eBook on Amazon. Together, George and his wife Ruth have also created Elmer Finds His Way, the first in what he hopes will be a long series of children's books. Ruth did all the illustrations, as she has for every one of George's books — and beyond that she designed and painted the covers as well. Her work is woven into every page of everything he has published. A few words from readers: "I pulled up a kitchen chair and read your story three times." "You have a way of making a person homesick for a place they haven't been to." "Thank you for writing things that make old people and kids feel the same way at the same time." All my titles are available in paperback and eBook on Amazon.ca here.

Genetically Modified Seed Corn Now In The Food Chain

Boy these folks that do these things sure must think a lot of us humans are just plain dumb. Hmm … Thing is anyone in their right mind should be able to see exactly what has been happening.  And what would that be?  Simple, they are just using us for Ginny pigs and what better way than to just say.  Oh darn! We shipped the wrong product, sorry. Take a look at this article.

A Swiss company accidentally sold unapproved genetically modified seed corn in the US for four years. The mistake resulted in about 133 million kilograms of the corn making its way into the food chain.

Thing is folks, through my eyes no genetically modified anything is good for you, simple as that.  Just one more thing to add to the extinction of humans as we now know them.   My Opinion Only.

If You Don’t Take Care Of Your Body, The Alternative Isn’t Nice.

You know I have found that most folks look after their car more than they do their own body these days.  They make sure they faithfully change the oil and things, but when it comes to themselves, they throw anything into it.  I know it’s hard, as most folks today work 24-7, and when they get home at night or a weekend off, they just don’t feel like cooking. But thing is folks, you are going to have to make time, either that or get very sick.  Eating right in my eyes is about the best investment you can do in life and it’s never too late to start.  Take all the toxins and heavy metals, like aluminum, arsenic, cadmium, lead, mercury and uranium, just to name a few that finds their way into one’s body every day.  Not to forget all the pesticides and things the Powers That Be say isn’t going to hurt you, that is sprayed on your lawns, fruit and veggies.  Man, it’s sure no wonder why folks are getting sicker and sicker and sicker these days.  So … what should one do?? Well for one, you should be taking the time to cook your own.  Buy only food that is grown organic and make darn sure you also know where it comes from. Avoid all off shore things, or most, as their regulations are quite different from ours.  For myself I grow my own, but if I do buy from other places it will only be from the USA.  Reason being the earth, water and things they have there, are the closest things we have to our own here in Canada.  A few items one should be eating to rid your body of things that are hurting you, are, onions, tomatoes, broccoli, tomatoes, I said tomatoes twice on purpose, and the best I saved for last.  Good old Garlic, raw, grown here in Canada, or in your own garden.  There is nothing better. Garlic contains the antioxidant allicin, which is formed from alliin and allinase when the cloves are crushed. Garlic helps lower blood pressure and cholesterol while cleansing the liver. Offering health benefits when consumed in raw versus cooked or aged, Garlic has antiviral, antibacterial, antimicrobial and anti-fungal properties.  Doctors, Powers That Be, and Pharmaceutical companies aren’t the answer for good health, you are. So there you go, a bit of advice that I recommend, if you don’t, well the alternative isn’t good.

My Thoughts On The Atheist

I sure am asked some interesting questions these days.  This one comes from a lady in Northern Ontario, asking me my views on Atheism.  Well this here pretty well explains my thoughts on the subject.

Atheist are widely believed to not believe in anything, this is a popular misconception. Atheist usually use logical thinking and philosophy and research to find what they think to be the most reasonable theory and/or idea for the world around them until a more sensible idea comes along, instead of faith and belief like most religious party’s do.

Unlike people who are religious, most atheists are not atheist because they were taught it at a young age, fear, closed mindedness, or lack of the ability to ask why. But more because they can simply think on their own. Atheist prefer to go on reasonable evidence instead of merely faith.

Most Christians stereotype atheist as people who are afraid of religion and/or religious people and that they are afraid to speak about religion, But in fact atheists are more comfortable about what they are than anybody of religious faith and are also extremely more open to talking about religion.

Atheists are usually thought to hate god, but nobody can hate something they do not believe to be true.

Well that’s the best I can come up with, other than, isn’t it amazing that so many folks figure religion is right and the atheist is wrong. Its human nature to be like this, but don’t worry though, in the future we will all find out the TRUTH.  My Opinion Only

Firewood Poem

I know it’s a touch early but here is a bit on what wood is good for burning and an easy way to remember.  Take A Look

Beechwood fires are bright and clear
If the logs are kept a year,
Chestnut’s only good they say,
If for logs ’tis laid away.
Make a fire of Elder tree,
Death within your house will be;
But ash new or ash old,
Is fit for a queen with crown of gold.

Birch and fir logs burn too fast
Blaze up bright and do not last,
it is by the Irish said
Hawthorn bakes the sweetest bread.
Elm wood burns like churchyard mould,
Elm the very flames are cold
But Ash green or Ash brown
Is fit for a queen with golden crown.

Poplar gives a bitter smoke,
Fills your eyes and makes you choke,
Apple wood will scent your room
Pear wood smells like flowers in bloom
Oaken logs, if dry and old
keep away the winter’s cold
But Ash wet or Ash dry
A king shall warm his slippers by.
