Cool morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. And as you can see in the picture above, we had a touch of snow through the night. But with the temperature getting out of bed sitting at 2.1 C | 35.78 F it won’t last long. Highway 522 is wet, and travelling will be okay. But with gas prices sitting at $1.73 a litre, it makes a person think twice before going anywhere. Least for my wife and I.

On another note, my wife and I did a lot of work yesterday taking down some cherry trees out by the highway, that were broken off by a wind storm we had through winter. Took us most of the day. I have to tell you, my old body was sure sore last night. Kind of shows a feller how out of shape he really is, caused from being in the house all winter. Ha Ha. But the more outside work I do, the better I feel.

Today I am going to be working in the old woodworking shop on some orders and a few projects my wife lined up for me to make for our gift shop. Which we hope to open by the end of next month. We will see how that goes. Anyway, I have enough to keep me busy for the day.

With that bit of info under your hat … I am off for a bowl of cereal that my lovely wife is preparing for me, along with a piece of toast. Take care and stay safe. There are a lot of people out there at the moment that are pretty sick with this virus. GW

What’s Happening On April 18/2022

Good Morning! Not too much is happening in and around our community these days. With the weather being the way it has been, the virus, the price of food, lumber and things, along with the gas prices, people are staying at home. And it will only get worse in that department as, simply put, most won’t be able to afford to go anywhere. With all our government spending money in other countries, and on things that aren’t needed, our country is slowly deteriorating. I am thinking it will only get worse, as we are no longer are a country that thinks for ourselves. And what a shame that is. We are a bunch of sheep being herded in the direction that our powers that be want us to follow.

Anyway … it’s a sunny, cool morning here in Northern Ontario. But the sunshine will leave us shortly, with some light rain moving into our area later on today. The temperature waking up was sitting at 2.6 C | 36.68 F. It will warm up a touch, but not much as the day moves forward. Highway 522 is bare and dry for those wanting to do some travelling.

On another note, yesterday our oldest son left for home and made it safely back to the big city, and my lovely wife and I kind of took things easy for the remainder of the day. Today she is going to do some outside work raking and things, and I am going to get busy on some projects I have waiting in the old woodworking shop.

With that, I am off for a bowl of cereal and will then get to work. Hmm … maybe I will start the wood stove in the shop first. It will make things more comfortable working. Take care and stay safe.

It’s a cold morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada, The temperature feels more like winter than spring, sitting at -4 C | 24.8 F. However it will warm up a lot as the day moves forward. And on top of that, the sun should remain with us pretty well all day before the clouds roll in for tonight. Temperature wise it will now start to rise every day which is okay with us as we both are looking forward to some front porch sittin’ Highway 522 is bare and dry this morning. We did have a pretty good frost overnight, with everything being white this morning.

For the past three days, my wife and I have been enjoying the company of our oldest son and his fiancé. They are leaving to go back home this morning. We only get to see them once or twice a year. Hopefully this virus will mellow out for the summer, which I am sure it will, and we will get to see them more often.

Our cottage worked out nice for them, and the electric heater we bought awhile back kept them nice and warm. Today we will say our goodbyes for a spell and will then get things back to normal, getting things ready for our grand re-opening for our small gift shop around the end of May. We will see how things are working out with this virus.

With that I am off for a bacon and tomato sandwich my lovely wife is making for me and will then see what the day has in store other than what we have planned. Stay safe and have a great day. GW

The Walters Post, always striving to bring out the truth.

A glass of wine.

To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine and those who don’t and are always seen with a bottle of water in their hand:

As Ben Franklin said:
In wine there is wisdom,
In beer there is freedom,
In water there is bacteria.
In a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists have demonstrated that if we drink 1 liter of water each day, at the end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. Coli) – bacteria found in feces. In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop annually.
However, we do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer (or rum, whiskey or other liquor) because alcohol has to go through a purification process of boiling, filtering and fermenting.
Remember:
Water = Poop,
Wine = Health
Therefore, it’s better to drink wine and talk stupid, than to drink water and be full of …..

There is no need to thank me for this valuable information: I’m doing it as a public service.

It’s a wild, crazy morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada, weather wise. At the moment we are having some heavy rain along with some very high winds. It blew my hat off walking to my woodworking shop this morning. I would have lost it if it didn’t get hooked up in a bush behind my house. The temperature though isn’t all that bad, sitting at 13.3 C | 55.94 F. And it will warm up a wee bit more as the day moves forward. Highway 522 is bare and wet and care will have to be taken if out and about with this wind we are having.

The snow is completely gone now, and the ice is melting fast on the lakes. But in saying that, there is still a ways to go before anyone could put their boat in the water.

Yesterday my wife was busy getting things together for our son and his fiancé who are coming up for the Easter Weekend. Will be nice to see them, but we will have to be careful as with this virus you never know who might be carrying it. We have our cottage that they can stay in, which will make things a lot nicer and safer. We are just hoping the weather cooperates and warms up some. We do have a small electric heater in the cottage as it is insulated good with good windows, which I am thinking should keep them warm if need be. We will see how that goes. I have been entertaining on buying a propane wall heater, but not sure how they are for keeping things warm, or if they are any more cost-efficient, than electric heat. Always something to play on a fellers mind.

With that, I am off for a boiled egg and a piece of toast that my lovely wife is preparing for me, and will then see about doing a few things around the house here. Take care and stay safe.
