George Walters is a Canadian columnist and author with more than forty years of writing experience. For over twenty years he has written a weekly column for Postmedia Network — Canada's largest newspaper chain — never missing a single week, publishing fifty-two stories a year. Combined with his work in Reader's Digest Community Voices, World News, Country Living, The Country Register, and farm and rural lifestyle magazines across Canada, he has published well over two thousand stories drawn from everyday life. He writes about farm work, fishing, old trucks, and the kind of people you only find in small towns — but just as likely he'll hand a voice to a weathered telephone pole, or turn his eye on something happening in the world today and tell you exactly what he thinks about it. No subject is off limits. If there's a story in it, George will find it. He has been called a philosopher of everyday life, a description that came up more than once during his television appearances over the years — and it's not hard to see why. His writing has a way of making the ordinary feel worth sitting with. He is the author of eleven books, including yearly short story collections and the Clay Moretti Files mystery series. Clay is a fifty-year-old private investigator who drives a 1967 Ford Galaxie, smokes cigars, and operates by a code the modern world gave up on a long time ago. The cases are present day. The man handling them is not. All titles are available in paperback and eBook on Amazon. Together, George and his wife Ruth have also created Elmer Finds His Way, the first in what he hopes will be a long series of children's books. Ruth did all the illustrations, as she has for every one of George's books — and beyond that she designed and painted the covers as well. Her work is woven into every page of everything he has published. A few words from readers: "I pulled up a kitchen chair and read your story three times." "You have a way of making a person homesick for a place they haven't been to." "Thank you for writing things that make old people and kids feel the same way at the same time." All my titles are available in paperback and eBook on Amazon.ca here.

It’s a cloudy morning here in Port Loring, Ontario. We are also having some freezing rain mixed with some wet snow. There is a storm warning up for our area until 9:00 PM tonight. Highway 522 is snow and ice covered throughout. My advice if possible stay home today, as by the way things are looking travelling isn’t going to be good. It’s a mess out there at the moment.

For my wife and I we are staying put today, actually we have been staying put for the past week or so now. With the price of gas and things, we don’t feel like going anywhere. In a country that has more natural resources than most other countries, and we are charging our own people outrageous prices. And the thing is our Powers That Be has dug themselves in so deep with spending money they don’t have, it’s only going to get worse. They have it in their minds that they can keep on printing more money, but they are wrong, as you can only do that for so long before it catches up to you. I think the Bubble is about to burst!

Anyway, I think we are going to have a rough road for awhile before it gets better, that is if it does get better.

With that I am off for some waffels that my lovely wife is making me and will then get to work on a story I have in mind. Have a great day. GW

What’s Happening on February 21/2022

So how you all doing this morning? Good I hope. It’s a cloudy morning here in Port Loring, Ontario. The temperature getting out of bed was sitting at -12.4 C | 9.68 F. Not too bad, this time of year. But we are heading into March with most of the winter behind us. Which is okay with me as I am ready for some front porch sittin’ in the sunshine.

But in saying that, we could see some more snow later on this afternoon and through the night … and tomorrow we could have a mixed bag of weather. Snow, rain, and freezing rain. So care will have to be taken if out and about. Highway 522 is bare at the moment, with a few icy sections throughout.

Yesterday I wrote up a story and today will do the same. With that, I am off for a bowl of cereal with my lovely wife, and will then see what the day has in store … other than what I have planned. Usually something comes along I am not expecting. Take care and have a great day. GW

Vitamin D3

You know, my wife son and I have been saying that Vitamin D3, plays a huge part in staying healthy now for over five years. Some have listened, some have not.

Now more evidence has been made showing that we were right. But it isn’t just good for helping out with this virus, it is also can help out with the normal cold and flu’s that are out there today. You could say that Vitamin D3 is like wearing an invisible mask.

Here is what they are saying;

Vitamin D’s role in the prevention of the spread of COVID-19 has been long disputed by some experts for a long time now. But new research is saying that there is a possibility that Vitamin D3 levels has the ability to fend off severe COVID-19 symptoms, particularly associated with the Omicron variant. Furthermore, a new study suggest that those who were lacking vitamin D3 were a lot more likely to experience severe COVID-19 complications,

Food For Thought.

Where It All comes together

Some have asked where do I write my stories and if I would share my set-up. Well, truth be told, it isn’t anything special. It also should be noted that it isn’t always this clean, as usually I have notes and things all over the place.
