George Walters is a Canadian columnist and author with more than forty years of writing experience. For over twenty years he has written a weekly column for Postmedia Network — Canada's largest newspaper chain — never missing a single week, publishing fifty-two stories a year. Combined with his work in Reader's Digest Community Voices, World News, Country Living, The Country Register, and farm and rural lifestyle magazines across Canada, he has published well over two thousand stories drawn from everyday life. He writes about farm work, fishing, old trucks, and the kind of people you only find in small towns — but just as likely he'll hand a voice to a weathered telephone pole, or turn his eye on something happening in the world today and tell you exactly what he thinks about it. No subject is off limits. If there's a story in it, George will find it. He has been called a philosopher of everyday life, a description that came up more than once during his television appearances over the years — and it's not hard to see why. His writing has a way of making the ordinary feel worth sitting with. He is the author of eleven books, including yearly short story collections and the Clay Moretti Files mystery series. Clay is a fifty-year-old private investigator who drives a 1967 Ford Galaxie, smokes cigars, and operates by a code the modern world gave up on a long time ago. The cases are present day. The man handling them is not. All titles are available in paperback and eBook on Amazon. Together, George and his wife Ruth have also created Elmer Finds His Way, the first in what he hopes will be a long series of children's books. Ruth did all the illustrations, as she has for every one of George's books — and beyond that she designed and painted the covers as well. Her work is woven into every page of everything he has published. A few words from readers: "I pulled up a kitchen chair and read your story three times." "You have a way of making a person homesick for a place they haven't been to." "Thank you for writing things that make old people and kids feel the same way at the same time." All my titles are available in paperback and eBook on Amazon.ca here.

Contributors wanted!

Just a note to let you know, that I am looking for contributors, writers or what ever to help me out here at my Blog. If anyone is interested, drop me a line at [email protected]

For years, I have done it all on my own, but with my columns in newspapers and magazines, along with my podcasts, and this blog, it is becoming to be a bit much. Not that I am complaining, as I enjoy writing and sharing different things with you. I just thought it would be nice to have a few others share their views, pictures, advice or what ever. Which, I am sure, would make the Blog, that much more interesting.

You know, years ago I had a Woodworking group called the “Old Craftsman“. I started it, so woodworkers of all ages, be it professionals or wannabee’s, could come and share their ideas and learn. I didn’t know what to expect, but within one year I had over 500 Members in the group. They posted pictures of things they made, and shared their knowledge freely. I also made some great friends.

So that is what I would like to do here at my Blog. It would be a place that you can share your ideas or ask for advice.

I don’t want the Blog to be about just one topic, neither. I would like people to talk about all kinds of things. Be it writing, becoming a columnist, farming, gardening, natural health related issues, nature, country living, doesn’t matter, the more, the merrier. Pictures would also be a nice touch, as the old saying goes … “A Picture is worth a thousand words.” And one last thing. You don’t have to post on a daily basis, it will be up to you. No pressure. And, I am also open to new ideas that you might have on improving the Blog.

I should also mention that I use WordPress for my Blog, it’s a very easy platform to work with. Anyway, give it some thought, and if you’re interested let me know, and I will add you as a Moderator. Once that is done, you can pretty well do anything you want. George Walters

What’s happening? January 15/2022

Good Morning! It’s a down right cold morning here in Port Loring, Ontario, Canada. The temperature getting out of bed was sitting at -30.2 C | -22.36 F. It will warm up a bit as the day progresses, but not that much. We didn’t have any more snow overnight. Highway 522 is partially snow covered, with some icy sections throughout. So once again, care should be taken if out and about. In saying that, when we went to town the other day we found that even though we were going the speed limit, almost everyone was passing us. I guess they can’t wait to get to Tim Hortons. There are a lot of people ice fishing these days, as I see a lot of ice shacks out on the lakes. I am not into ice fishing anymore, as the real cold seems to bother me these days. Sign of the time, I suppose. On another note, I noticed we had a few deer overnight checking out our bird feeder. They clean up all the excess seed that the birds knock off the bird feeder throughout the day. One thing about living in the country, nothing much goes to waste. Yesterday being so cold, I stayed inside where it was warm. Today I will do the same. With that, I am off to put some more wood in our furnace and will then see what the day has in store. I haven’t made up my mind yet on what I want to do. Actually, it’s nice being able to do that. In closing,

I would also like to take a sec and thank all those that have taken the time to say hello, here on the BLog and through E-Mails, letting me know they are enjoying the Blog and my Podcasts. Makes it all worthwhile. Take care and stay safe.
